Chapter 6 The attack!

Sonnet POV

The breeze of the city blows through my long hair, causing it to scatter all over my face, but I didn't bulge; my mind is in deep thought about what happened today.

After the shocking kiss from the masked stranger, he simply pulled away and walked away without giving an explanation or telling who he was, and the funniest part is that after he left, I began to feel a type of loneliness and longing for him.

I gazed at my watch and noticed it was almost midnight and curfew time.

Oh yes, Waxx Town has a curfew. Since the city is ruled and controlled by werewolves and other supernatural creatures, humans have become limited to certain rights.

I gazed at my phone screen, which was displaying a threat message from my father. I know he is worried about me not getting home at this time, but he always displays it in an aggressive way.

"Miss, don't you think you need to find a hotel to spend the night? It's almost midnight, and it will be illegal to find you out in the night." The taxi driver proclaimed it to me, and I sighed.

"What about you?" I asked, feeling worried for him too.

"You don't need to worry; I belong to the werewolvs race," he informed me, and I grasped in realization.

I never knew I had boarded a werewolf car! I was so engrossed in my thoughts that I didn't study first before entering. Besides, this is my first time being in close contact with a werewolf. I really don't like them; they are too arrogant and ruthless, always feeling like they are the gods of everybody just because they are our supreme leaders.

"So?" The driver's voice caught me back to reality, and I inhaled.

"I really don't have much money for such a service; don't worry, my house is close by; just keep on driving." I said to him:

"Miss, you know it's election period; it's very risky. I don't mind lending you money to go and spend the night in the hotel; safety first." He mouthed slightly rising his voice, you see? They are all fucking arrogant!

"Mr. Wolf, will you take me to my home?" I declared in annoyance, and I heard him hiss before increasing the speed of the car.

"Easy!" I hissed when my head hit the car glass.

FEW MINUTES LATER____

I felt the hard stop of the car, and I glared at the driver in anger before saying," Are you planning to kill me?"

"Please, ma'am, you have to come down here; I can't go inside your street." His nonchalant words came, and I sighed before handing over his money. Besides, I'm not scared; my house is just a few kilometers away. It's not like I will get killed at such close range to my house, right?

I slide out of the car and pick up my handbag, and I slam the door of the passenger seat hardly in annoyance before resuming my steps.

I clutched my handbag tightly to my body, and I walked through the quiet and dim street that was illuminated by a dim gaslight.

I decided to become engrossed in thought so that the lonely street would not look scary to me.

However, I have been debating about Becky's offer, and I think I will give it a try. Beside, what's the essence of behaving or acting like all saints and letting myself be married off?

I know my stepmother very well; if I don't prove my worth to the family, I will end up being forced to do their bidding.

"Argh!" I cringe in shock when a rustling sound coming from a nearby bush hits my ear. I gawked my eyes around to make sure I wasn't being followed.

"It's fine, not dangerous." I encourage myself and resume my steps, but this time I walked faster as I have become wary of my environment.

"Wooohoo!" I heard a sharp howl, and the next thing I knew, three big furry animals landed in front of me, thereby blocking my way.

I stepped back in fear; my chest was thuddering loudly, accompanied by a sudden heavy sweat as if I had been placed in a sea of water.

I haven't encountered any life-threatening moments in my life, and I wish I never did. It's such a terrible feeling.

"Please don't kill me!" I cried and attempted to race back, but their howling rooted me in place, and I shivered.

"Oh Lord! I would have just listened to the wolf driver; now I will be a dinner for these hungry creatures," I cried in my head as I retreated my steps gradually.

After getting a little distance from there, I turned and started to sprint backwards, but I saw two other furry animals sprout to my front.

My front, back, left, and right sides were surrounded by the creature, and I sensed them communicating with each other. I don't really know much about the wolves race, but I know some basic information.

"Please!" Tears began to fall down my cheeks because I knew my ignorance would be the cause of my death tonight.

"Woohoo!" Then came the large growl, and the next thing I knew, they began to race towards me.

I stumbled backwards and missed a foot, which made me land barely on the gravel ground.

"Arrghh!!" I screamed out in pain due to the sharp objects that pressed through my skin, but that didn't stop the wolves.

I felt my hair being pulled to the side by a paw, and a blazing blue eyes came into view.

I felt a type of terrible fear, a dark one that I couldn't fathom: is this how I will die?

"Argh!" I cried out more when numerous claws started scratching my skin here and there; they were jumping and heading each other, fighting for who had me first.

"Woohoo!" I heard a sharp and commanding roar from a distance, and everything froze in place at the big, dark wolf! "Who is this?" I mumbled, as I felt really dizzy and couldn't keep up.
