Chapter 2

Kelly tried to stay calm after hearing everything the disembodied voice said. She finally sighed and got up from the bed before walking towards the bathroom as she had to be at W company in an hour for an interview after applying for a job there half a month ago.

Showered and ready, Kelly dressed formally in a white shirt and black knee-length skirt. She tousled her hair, then looked down at her makeup-polished face.

"I can get this job," she muttered with a smile. "At least the position is a receptionist in the CEO's office. Let's hope this is my lucky break."

It wasn't long before Kelly got up and grabbed her bag and the CV she had prepared. She walked out of the room and found a man walking towards her.

"Are you going for a job interview at W Company? Let me take you," he said with a dazed look.

"Are you drunk, Kyle? With a hangover like that, are you sure you can drive me to the company? We'll get a ticket from the traffic police." Kelly said flatly and walked away while the man held her hand.

"I'll take a quick shower and then drop you off, wait in front. If you dare to leave, I won't let you go." Kyle said threateningly, which made Kelly feel annoyed.

"Go shower. I'll be waiting for you in 20 minutes, or I'll be late if it takes too long."

Kyle smiled, then walked towards his room with a stagger. Kelly could only sigh, lazy to find trouble, and could only silently wait for him to finish bathing in the house courtyard with the wind blowing.

Sitting in a chair alone, her parents had gone abroad to take care of business, so now she only lived alone with Kyle, her step-brother—a rather grumpy, arrogant, and pushy man. Kelly wasn't afraid to fight him; she was just lazy; she knew he was a little crazy, so she thought again to do anything with him.

"When will you accept me?"

Kelly didn't say anything to answer her stepbrother's question. She just stared outside and sighed.

"I like you; we're just half-brothers. Why are you still afraid to do all that? Mom and Dad also approve of us getting married," Kyle babbled as he continued driving.

"I'm stopping here," Kelly said as she looked at her brother's face. "It's about to go in; I must line up first."

Kyle sighed, stopping where Kelly wanted before looking deeply into Kyle's face.

"Tonight, if you get into this company, I'll treat you at the bar. Don't forget to let me know the results," Kyle said, making Kelly silent momentarily.

Kelly remembered her dream, almost the same as what her stepbrother did. Kelly remembered her dream from last night, where her stepbrother tricked her with stimulants and then ended up sleeping with a man she didn't recognize.

Was that the way it was going to go? Would she meet her Alpha when her brother framed her later that night? Kelly did feel that she wasn't human with the powers she had, but did she need to be prepared first? Wasn't last night supposed to be last night? Because she was going to a job interview now if, in her dream, it was tomorrow.

"What are you thinking about? Why don't you answer me?"

Kelly gasped in surprise, then looked at her brother's face and smiled stiffly. "Well, just pray that I manage to get a position here," she said and put on her bag.

"Hmm." Kyle smiled and looked at her with a deep gaze. "I'll pick you up later this afternoon."

Kelly smiled and nodded; she got out of the car and took a deep breath before finally walking towards the company and reassuring herself that what would happen tonight was something she could deal with. She also wanted to know that she had another life; she wanted to get away from her ambitious stepbrother.

Before long, she was gathered with some of the same new hires as her; she and they were asked to wait until they were asked to come in to start the interview.

Soon, only two people were accepted: Kelly and Summer, who was one of the candidates and applied to be an employee in a different division. Kelly was invited by a senior receptionist of the CEO's office to get acquainted with her coworkers. Finally, she was invited to greet the boss because she had to recognize the CEO she would serve.

"Take care of your attitude before the CEO later; don't offend him. The CEO is very private and does not like to be disturbed unless there is something significant. So you don't have to quit just because you offended him," said Elly, her senior.

"Okay."

Kelly walked behind the woman with her body made as graceful and elegant as possible. She was used to walking well like this because her father was also a businessman; it was just that she worked in her father's company because he was her stepfather.

If she worked there, then she would have to agree to marry her brother, Kyle. That was something Kelly didn't want, so she tried to stay as far away from them as possible, especially her mother, who didn't care much for her since she remarried.

"Sir... I brought the Receptionist of the new CEO's office." Elly said politely as they walked into the room of the CEO, who was the highest-ranking boss here.

Kelly smiled politely, bowing correctly to the man who was reading a file. The man had his back to them and made his face invisible.

"Hmm, ask him to make coffee for me. You go back to work." The man's heavy voice made Elly nod obediently.

Kelly was immediately directed to the pantry table; she immediately made coffee the way she knew how. This was not the first time she had made coffee because she had made it numerous times in college; when she stayed up late to finish her assignments, she had to drink coffee first, and coffee had also been a part of her life since she was an adult.

"I don't know his taste; I hope it's appropriate." Kelly nodded and walked towards the table where the CEO was.

She bowed politely beforehand, placed the coffee on the table's edge, and smiled politely before speaking.

"Please, sir. Your coffee is ready," Kelly said politely and took her hand.

However, before she could pull it, the man had already caught her wrist and raised his head from the file.

"Kelly Flora..."

Kelly looked up at him and rounded her eyes. "You?!"

The man smiled, then rose from his seat before confining Kelly between his desks and looking deeply into the face of the girl before him.

"I am your Alpha... Alan Wolfmes."

"Wh-what?!"

The man, who claimed to be named Alan, smiled, then cupped one side of her face and rubbed it gently. "I need you to settle the war in Klanku. You must be willing to come with me, Baby."
