Chapter 2 Blood Draw

Eleanor pushed open the door and saw her husband,Sebastian Hastings, looking at her with a stern expression.

"Where did you go? Why didn't you answer the phone?"

"My phone died. Is there an emergency?"

"Victoria is injured and has lost too much blood. Come with me to the hospital."

Victoria Sinclair had a severe coagulation disorder and had a rare blood type that only Eleanor could match.

The hospital where Victoria was staying was nearby, just a ten-minute walk away. But Sebastian was anxious and forcibly threw Eleanor into the back seat of the car.

As Sebastian drove, his eyes fixed on the road ahead. He glanced at the rearview mirror by chance and saw Eleanor's pale face without any color. He couldn't help but furrow his brows: "Why is your face as white as a ghost?"

Eleanor sarcastically curled her lips and opened the car window to look at the rain outside getting heavier and heavier. Her body froze into a ball,an exhaling mist that turned into ice fog while her eyelashes trembled lightly.

Sebastian gave her a cold glance when she remained silent for some time, feeling inexplicably annoyed about something being off about Eleanor today.

But after thinking it over,he realized that whatever happened to Eleanor wasn't relevant now; what mattered most was Victoria's health. With this in mind,he accelerated his speed.

When they arrived at the hospital,Sebastian dragged Eleanor out of the car by hand before she could even stand firmly on her feet. She stumbled behind him awkwardly like an unsteady toddler.

Sebastian took Eleanor directly to draw blood in one of their rooms and said coldly to one nurse: "Draw her blood without checking anything right away."

A bitter smile appeared on Eleanor's lips; Sebastian trusted his blood more than he trusted people like herself - not even bothering with checks or worrying about cancer cells entering Victoria's body.

"Sebastian,I don't feel well today. Can we not do this...?"

Sebastian narrowed his pupils and shot a dangerous light from within them. He bent down to clamp Eleanor's chin with one hand and said coldly: "What right do you have to say no? We signed the contract four years ago, clearly stating your responsibilities."

Four years ago, they signed a contract where Eleanor would donate blood for free in case of excessive bleeding in Victoria.

That year,Victoria had a car accident in Los Angeles that caused her to lose too much blood due to delayed hospitalization. She urgently needed Rh-negative blood type which only Eleanor could provide.

Sebastian was extremely anxious and begged her for help. But Eleanor proposed an exchange condition: "I will save Victoria if you marry me."

Born into the prestigious Hastings family,Sebastian enjoyed everything since birth and was always at the forefront of everyone around him. It was his first time being threatened like this by someone who didn't even take his words seriously.

Eleanor knew that Sebastian hated being forced to do things he didn't want to do; so when she saw him sign the contract without hesitation, she knew she had lost.

Seeing how far he went for Victoria made her heart ache unbearably; but later on,she comforted herself saying that love grows over time . Maybe someday Sebastian would treat her as kindly as he did towards Victoria.

Unfortunately,she lost again.

As she watched the needle pierce through her skin and slowly draw out crimson plasma from inside it while feeling increasingly pale due to pain-more painful than when undergoing gastroscopy-the nurse drawing blood hadn't seen such a weak woman before staring at that fair wrist segment asked softly: "Can you hold on?"

Eleanor shook her head dizzily with a hoarse voice: "Go ahead; I'm fine."

The nurse drew a total of 600cc and dared not continue.

Just before Eleanor lost consciousness, she heard Sebastian ask the nurse: "Is that enough? If it's not enough, you can keep drawing."

How did Sebastian become so heartless over these years?
