Chapter 5

"She doesn't get it, why are you even arguing with her?" The male doctor was getting anxious, hell-bent on saving Ryan's life.

Ryan couldn't die here, or everyone would be in deep trouble.

They couldn't do surgery right now, but they also couldn't let Ryan die. So, they had to go with sedatives and Comfortable Heart and Smooth Vessel Capsules.

"Who did you just call a quack?" Aurora stepped up to Abella, challenging her.

"Who else but you?" Abella shot back, not even bothering to hide her disdain.

Aurora was fuming.

Abella crossed her arms and said coolly, "In his condition, surgery is the only option."

"Surgery? You make it sound so simple," Aurora scoffed. "This old man has had five heart surgeries already. His heart is a mess. No doctor in the country, not even at NYU Medical Center, would dare attempt a sixth surgery on him!"

"Let it go, Aurora," the male director tried to calm things down, but Aurora wasn't having it.

"There's no case like his in any medical literature, anywhere!" Aurora's voice was firm. "We've consulted top cardiac surgeons from all over, and no one has a better solution!"

Abella just raised an eyebrow, "That's because you're all incompetent."

"You think you can do it?" Aurora sneered. "Be my guest!"

Abella glanced at the old man on the bed, an unconcerned glint in her eyes, and said casually, "You can't afford me."

Aurora laughed, "This old man isn't just anyone. Money's no object. If you can save him, forget about money, I'll do whatever you say from now on!"

Abella raised an eyebrow, "Deal."

"You're so full of yourself!" Aurora didn't take her seriously. "Have you even graduated high school? Do you even know where the heart is? Surgery isn't just about brandishing a knife. It's not like slicing steak at a restaurant. I don't care where you came from. Apologize and leave quietly, and I'll pretend this never happened!"

Abella glanced at her work badge and said indifferently, "A deputy chief cardiac surgeon who can't even perform a valve replacement surgery, and you want me to apologize?"

"Calling you a quack is just the nice way to put it," Abella added.

"Can you believe this girl?" Aurora was livid.

A female doctor nearby muttered, "She actually knows about valve replacement surgery."

Saying such a professional term from a young girl, could she really know medicine?

The male doctor also noticed, looking at Abella with surprise. He whispered to Aurora, "Why not let her try? Maybe she knows something."

"Dr. Aaron, are you serious? Trusting a young girl?" Before Aurora could finish, another doctor muttered, "If something goes wrong, we can just blame it on her."

"She's not even a doctor here!" Aurora hissed. "Do you know who Mr. Bourbon is? If something goes wrong, we're all on the hook! You think bringing in some young girl to take the fall will work?"

Aurora shot Abella a disdainful look. "If she really knew her stuff, she'd be the attending physician here, not us!"

The male doctor sighed, "But we don't have any other options right now."

"How about..." The female doctor suggested, "We call Dr. Smith?"

Randy was known as a genius around here, but he was also a bit of a jerk.

"Dr. Smith is too proud. If it's not his patient, he won't even bother," Aurora said, rolling her eyes. She knew Randy's temper all too well; he'd probably just kick them out.

"So what now?" The female doctor asked, looking worried.

Their voices must've been louder than they thought because a small crowd had gathered outside the ward, whispering.

Zachary, trying to keep things from getting worse, said, "Young lady, this surgery is incredibly tough. Even with my decades of experience, I'm not confident. Given Ryan's condition, except for the late medical expert Mr. Wilson, no one can guarantee a cure. It's not that we don't want to do the surgery, but our skills are limited."

They could buy time with sedatives and Comfortable Heart and Smooth Vessel Capsules until the family could sign the consent forms. They were all in fear of Mr. Bourbon's power and didn't want to take the risk.

"Did you say there'd be a reward for doing the surgery?" Abella suddenly asked.

Zachary was taken aback but quickly nodded, "Of course."

Ryan wasn't just anyone. If his life could be saved, money was no issue.

Abella had helped the Wilson family make a lot of money before, but with Vilma's illness, she'd almost spent all her savings. Doing a small surgery for some cash didn't sound bad.

Seeing the confidence in Abella's eyes, Zachary couldn't help but ask, "Young lady, are you really a doctor?"

Abella smirked, "Handling a scalpel is no problem."

"So how do you plan to save him?" Zachary asked.

"By doing a valve replacement surgery, but I need Randy as my assistant," Abella replied.

Aurora thought Abella was out of her mind. "Who do you think you are? Do you know who Randy is? I can call him, but do you really think he'd assist you? I don't believe it."

She turned to Zachary, "Dr. Brown, let's not waste time. Let's give the sedatives and Comfortable Heart and Smooth Vessel Capsules first!"

She told a nearby nurse, "Go get the meds and inform security there's a lunatic here."

The nurse ran out and accidentally bumped into Randy, quickly explaining the situation.

Soon, a familiar voice echoed in the ward. "Who is looking for me?"

Everyone looked up, shocked to see Randy standing there.

How did the nurse manage to get Randy here? Such an important figure, how did she pull that off?
