CHAPTER 3
"What is it?" She asked him. He appeared to be worried about it, and she could almost instantly tell that there was something that wasn't entirely adding up.
"The west is down. We have to do something about it." He said to her. She looked at him in confusion. Before her eyes widened as the realization of what was going on came to her.
"Dont ." She said to him calmly. "I don't have another choice. He is the only one who can help. The south is all that we have left, and we have to take action before that too is taken down." He said, and before she could say anything towards him in confusion.
He moved out of their chambers after he had managed to slip on his robe. He made his way out of the corridor and began to head towards the staircase. He had always kept him hidden away, and he knew that was the wrong move. He spiraled down the staircase as he could feel the fast beating of his heart against his chest. He could tell that there was something very wrong, and he needed to act fast.
Soon enough, he came to a stop down in the cellars as he pulled up to the very last door. He pounded his fist against it as he waited patiently for him to open up. He watched as he made his way outside, and he rubbed his eyes.
He had smoke around them but cleared them when he saw the king standing at his door. "Your highness". He spoke as he bowed his head down at him slightly.
"We must speak." He said it to him in a cold tone. He nodded his head at him in response before moving aside and allowing him to pass.
"What can I do for you?" He asked him unsurely. He looked around the room, where there were several tables lined with jars and test tubes, as well as several other types of glassware. He looked at them in confusion.
"I know that you have been banished here for your past misdeeds, but I believe now that it is time for us to make use of your talents once more." He spoke, and he watched as he struggled to find the words to say to him as he looked towards him with a guilty expression.
"Have a seat, but I assure you, sir, that I have stopped doing that." He said to him, but he could see the glint that was in his eyes.
"I know, and you know that I know that it is a lie, so how about we stop presuming and face the fact that you have been up to something. You should know that I am not here to arrest you. In fact, quite the opposite, I am looking forward to making use of some of your talents." The King spoke.
He looked at him in confusion. "What do you mean?" He asked him with concern. "I don't know if you have heard, but the darkness has returned."
He said as he watched Ranar carefully.
He could sense that there was no sense of shock on his face, and in that moment, he knew that he was already aware of it.
"Yes, I have heard. What do you need from me?" He asked him with clear excitement in his tone. "As the servant of the darkness, I need to know if there is a way that we can stop him for good." He said to him.
He almost scoffed as he looked at him with his eyes wide open. "You captured me a good five hundred years ago. You have held me as a prisoner and not allowed me any other contact with the outside world. So why would you think that I would be willing to help you?" He said to him.
The King remained silent, as he was well aware of what he had done. Ranar was a complicated person. He had been one of the agents of darkness and had helped in his previous conquest. It was only after the successful defeat of the darkness that he surrendered. He had been kept prisoner down here since then, and it was supposed to remain the case that he would stay there for the rest of his days, but it appeared that circumstances had changed and that was no longer the case. Like a sense of deja vu, they were once again put in a situation where his services were required, only this time he would be serving a different master. The one who had put in effort to take him down.
The king had known this was coming. "I will grant you your freedom. I will give you the same privilege that I gave her. You will be decorated and no longer have to be a slave to anyone. What I offer you right here and right now is your freedom." He said to him, and he could sense that he was willing to agree to that as she took in the glint in his eyes.
"I will be willing to consider it." He said as he allowed him to move further into the room.
"Now tell me what you have planned." He asked him in a demanding tone.
He watched as he scrambled away from him, letting out a sigh from his lips. As he made his way to the corner of the room, he pulled out a test tube from one of the cabinets that appeared to contain a bright blue liquid.
He made his way towards the king, who appeared to look at him with great caution. "This is what you need. It is called an atomizer. It is said to break apart the cells of one's body bit by bit. Until it is nothing more than atoms that are invisible." He said to him, and he widened his eyes at him.
He was handed the tube, and he looked it over as he turned it around in his hand. "And you are sure that this is going to work. " he asked him.
He watched as he looked at him with a bright smirk. "I assure you that something within a five mile radius of this thing will be shattered." He spoke to him.
He looked over it once more as he tried to think about whether or not there would be any negatives to it.
The south was scanty and had few settlements. There was a thick forest between it and the capital. He almost smiled as he realized it would be the perfect opportunity to attack.
"And how would you plan on releasing it into the air?" He asked as he looked over the vile. "Well, we have bombs that are designed for this very purpose. We can coat them in the atomizer and drop them . They will shatter and ricochet through the place." he spoke.
"How long will it take for you to make enough of this to be able to destroy it once and for all?" He asked him. "I will need two weeks". He said that, and he felt death come over him. He didn't have a week; he needed to be able to put a stop to it all now.
"That isn't good enough. I need it brought to an end right now." He spat. "That isn't a good idea". He warned him.
The king grabbed a hold of his collar, pulling him close. "I don't care if it is safe or not; get it done in a week." He roared.
He didn't allow him to say anything to him in response as he watched the king leave. Rozan froze as he felt her presence behind him.
"What have you done?" She whispered.
