Chapter 2 Mr. Howard

As soon as Sierra entered the room, she saw Olivia sitting on the sofa lost in thought. Her eyes were red, as if she had been crying.

Sierra looked around and couldn't help but ask, "What happened to Olivia? Where's Dad?"

Olivia was Warm's second wife. Upon hearing Sierra's question, Olivia couldn't help but curse bitterly.

"Roger is a Monster! He's too ruthless! A few years ago when the Harris family was struggling, you stood by him through thick and thin. Now that he has recovered his strength, not only did he dump you but he also wants to send your father to jail."

"Sierra, I told you before that Roger wasn't right for you but you didn't listen."

Olivia kept complaining while Sierra was stunned for a moment before saying: "Don't worry Olivia; let me talk to Roger about this."

Sierra thought that since they used to be together there must still be some feelings between them and Roger wouldn't go so far as to ruin everything completely.

She dialed his number and he answered quickly.

Sierra lowered her tone and said: "Roger we've already broken up; please don’t take it out on my dad."

Roger sneered at her request. "Someone has got to take responsibility for that debt loss," he said.

Sierra tried pleading with him again but Roger cut her off mid-sentence with an offer: "There is another way out of this mess if you're willing. If you become my mistress for five years then I'll release Mr. Adler.”

Sierra never expected Roger would stoop so low - not only did he want support from her influential family member Eric Howard (Mr. Howard), but now he wanted control over her body too!

Angry beyond words Sierra trembled with rage: “You make me sick!”

But Roger didn't care and laughed it off: "You know what kind of person I am, don't you?"

Sierra gritted her teeth and said: “I won’t be your mistress! Roger, forget about it!”

Roger's tone turned cold as he warned her: "Then get ready to hire a lawyer for Mr. Adler. Don't blame me if you end up with at least ten years in prison."

Sierra sneered back at him: “I'll hire the best lawyer there is!”

"You mean Eric?" Roger calmly replied with a smile on his face. "Don't forget that he's going to be my future brother-in-law; do you really think he will help you fight this case?"

Sierra was left speechless.

Roger ended the call by saying lightly, "Sierra, I'm waiting for your plea!"

As soon as Sierra hung up the phone Olivia cursed again.

"That bastard!" she exclaimed. "He must be dreaming!"

Olivia started crying while saying: “That Mr. Howard is this monster’s big brother-in-law; how can we possibly ask him for help? Sierra, please think of something.”

After a moment of silence Sierra spoke softly: “Mr.Howard and I have met before; let me try.”

It wasn’t easy to meet Eric Howard.

At Howard LLP headquarters, the receptionist politely refused Sierra entry without an appointment.

Regretting not taking his business card last night she asked instead, “If I make an appointment now when can I see Mr. Howard?”

The receptionist checked their schedule and replied, “At least half a month from now."

Feeling anxious Sierra suddenly saw Eric walking out of the elevator with another woman just around the corner from where they were standing.

Eric was dressed in classic black-and-white suit looking like an elite businessman while his companion was a hot-bodied woman in her thirties who looked like someone no man could resist.

As soon as Eric stepped out of the elevator, he saw Sierra but acted like he didn't recognize her and walked his client to the door without a word.

Sierra noticed that Eric was very tactful. He shook hands with his client and said goodbye while she talked about how grateful she was for his help in getting her divorce settlement. She went on to say how stingy her ex-husband had become since finding a new lover...

Eric smiled faintly and replied: "It's my pleasure."

The woman then made an advance towards him by asking if they could have drinks together later that evening.

Sierra couldn’t help but notice this woman’s figure which would be hard for any man to resist, but Eric wasn't just any man.

He checked his watch politely before declining: “I'm sorry; I already have plans tonight.”

The woman knew when it was time to leave gracefully so she bid farewell and left in her car.

After seeing off his client, Eric stopped at the reception desk for a moment. He looked at Sierra and said, "Changed your mind?"
