Chapter 5
It seemed what Carter had said before was true—that the 54 Club did offer certain services to some clients. He'd never run into it before and didn't expect to get tricked on his first night back in the country.
At this point, there was no use dwelling on it.
He started heading to his private room, noticing Selena still following. He turned to her. "Carter said your services are pricey but guaranteed to satisfy?"
Selena had dealt with many clients over the years. Most rich folks were generous, but there were always a few tough ones.
Hearing Raymond's words, she instinctively responded formally, "Mr. Montague, Pricey is relative."
Raymond's eyes flashed with dissatisfaction, and he sneered, "Really? Because I'm very dissatisfied with your service."
During sex, Selena's reactions were very inexperienced, and he had to take control the entire time. Since it was a business transaction, wasn't user experience important?
Especially when the fee was in the millions. Besides her body and face, what else was worth that price?
This line of work really was lucrative.
With the professional attitude of "the customer is always right," Selena responded good-naturedly, "Mr. Montague, you can first tell me what style you prefer, and I will accommodate according to the client's preferences."
Selena's cool face wore a polite and appropriate smile. The wall lamp cast a soft glow on Selena's cool face, highlighting a polite smile that somehow made her even more charming.
Raymond's expression sniffed, inexplicably reminded of the end of the night when she seemed unable to bear it, her lips slightly parted, eyes unfocused, only able to weakly cling to him.
Her eyes were shimmering, with long, slender corners, a gaze that was extremely alluring.
Selena raised her face, confident. "Among my clients, there are many repeat customers who are very satisfied with me."
Those apartments or villas she designed? They could sell for way more, even as second-hand properties. So far, no one had ever complained.
"You have other clients?" Raymond's brow furrowed, a hint of displeasure creeping in. "Wasn't this your first time?"
"How could it be? I've been in this line of work for three years," Selena said, looking genuinely surprised. What had Carter told him?
As soon as she finished speaking, Raymond's face turned cold.
He couldn't quite put his finger on it, but it was irritating, and his chest felt tight. "Alright, stop following me. The transaction is complete, don't expect anything more."
Selena paused, confused by his sudden anger. "Then should I go find Mr. Ashford?"
Her confusion seemed like fake ignorance to Raymond. His eyes narrowed, and his expression turned even more displeased. "He's also your client?"
"In a way," Selena nodded. Future clients were still clients.
Raymond's face grew even darker, and he left without hesitation.
Selena stood there, trying to figure out what she had said that might have upset Raymond. They hadn't talked much, and she hadn't made any mistakes. Why was he still dissatisfied?
He probably didn't know her true identity yet.
Just then, Matthew called her, "Did you get in?"
Selena replied, "Mr. Clark, I think I messed up."
Matthew was taken aback. He had a lot of confidence in Selena. She had a special talent for design, and since entering this field, she had never said she messed up.
Matthew spoke, "Come to room 1402 first."
"Okay," Selena hung up the phone and asked a server for the location of the room.
Matthew looked up at Carter, who was sitting with his legs crossed. "Mr. Ashford, the designer will be here soon."
Carter had a very striking appearance, exuding a vibrant energy. He smiled, "No rush, Raymond will be here soon too. Let's have them talk face-to-face; it will definitely work out."
With Carter's assurance, Matthew relaxed and began to smile, "By the way, Raymond and I were high school classmates, but he probably doesn't remember me."
With such a family background and appearance, Raymond had never lacked people trying to please him.
Moreover, although they were in the same class back then, Raymond had actually spent less than half a year at school.
Just as he finished speaking, the door to the room was pushed open, and Selena walked in.
She wasn't wearing professional attire today. Her light-colored casual outfit looked elegant, paired with a matching handbag. Her hair was loosely tied, giving her a very clean and fresh appearance.
She smiled at Carter, "Hello."
Carter's eyes lit up instantly. "I didn't expect Ms. Fair to be not only talented but also so beautiful."
Seeing her come in alone, he was a bit puzzled. "Didn't I ask my cousin Raymond to pick you up? Where is he?"
Selena paused. Raymond was his cousin?
Selena was only caught off guard for a second; she wasn't too worried about being recognized.
Why? Well, besides visiting William during the holidays, Selena hardly ever showed up around the Montague Family. Raymond never really paid attention to her, and the rest of the family cared even less about someone as low-key as her.
Thinking about Raymond's reaction, Selena smirked with a touch of regret, "Maybe I did something to tick off Mr. Montague."
Carter had a thing for good-looking people, no matter their job or background. Looking at Selena, his tone softened without him even realizing it. "No way. Your design is super artistic. Even though Raymond's in business, he didn't start out in finance. He double-majored, one of which was in art. He can appreciate good work. He's probably just in a bad mood because of his recent divorce."
Selena stayed quiet, but Matthew, who was next to her, was shocked. "Raymond was married?"
