Chapter 7 Disappointed
Brian's POV
They were all chatting when they heard Lionel, the butler, announce, "Dinner is ready!"
Everyone merged into the dining room. Bonnie and Nathan sat opposite Elise and me. Our parents sat opposite each other, While Louis sat opposite Nanna, who sat beside Bonnie.
Nathan and Bonnie seemed to get along very well, like a house on fire. He asked Bonnie about her life in Scotland, and told her all the anecdotal stories of his childhood and early teens. He was laughing so hard. The chemistry between these two was great, and they were joking around and laughing like two easy-going siblings. Looking at the two of them, no one else who didn't know that, would assume that the relationship was more than siblings. Nathan busily placed food on Bonnie's plate, ensuring she had enough ribs, prawns, mutton, and potatoes on her plate to eat. They seemed to enjoy each other's company.
My parents looked on with approval at Bonnie and Nathan with smiles on their faces as they observed them. They seem to think that they are well suited, especially after observing them chatting and laughing. I could believe they were predicting another engagement soon.
All of a sudden, Elise whispered to me, "Why aren't you taking care of me like Nathan is taking care of Bonnie."
I was furious when she mentioned this and can't wait for dinner to be over. I was getting worried about Bonnie ignoring me. I tried several times to engage her in conversation, and every time I did, Elise or my mom tried to get his attention. It seemed as if they were tag-teaming me. While I, on the other hand, kept on thinking, would I die when my fated mate rejected me? Why was my brother behaving so recklessly, making the parents think there was something romantic going on with him and Bonnie? In the meantime, Damian was walking back and forth restlessly in my mind. I tried to mind-talk Damian to settle down, reassuring him that Nathan knew Bonnie was my fated mate.
After a lengthy discussion, our parents decided to hold off my engagement until December, when Nathan will be returning to the USA to attend this auspicious family event.
I was happy with this decision. It would give him enough time to figure out how to claim my fated mate and convince my parents to give me permission to let Elise know I had found my fated mate without drama. Yet, I wondered if Elise would try to get even with Bonnie for being my fated mate.
After laughing so hard, Bonnie excused herself to the washroom. She went to the powder room that was next to the cloakroom in the foyer. I can't wait to follow up and wait for her at the corner beside the cloakroom. Expectedly, she bumped into me.
As Bonnie left the room, the irresistible pull of the mate bond drew me closer to her. Her alluring scent acted as a guide, leading me to the powder room. It was a rare opportunity to finally speak with her, and I couldn't let it slip away.
I patiently waited for her to emerge from the powder room, and when she did, our paths collided. I heard approaching footsteps, and instinctively, she dashed into the nearby cloakroom. Without hesitation, I followed her inside.
The confined space offered little room to maneuver, and I watched as she began to search in the darkness. To my surprise, her hand brushed against my manhood, causing me to inhale sharply. I gently captured her hands, placing them beneath her arms. She trembled with fear, slowly backing away. With limited space, I pinned her to the wall.
She gasped with embarrassment, shook her head, and apologized. She said, "I. I am so sorry for touching you inappropriately.
Then I lowered my head and was about to touch her lips, but I froze in the back of the room as someone opened the door. It was cousin Louis who had a hot date with his girlfriend.
We stood still, feeling the sizzling body heat arising out of desire surrounding us.
After Louis' exited, I grabbed her and pulled her to his chest. After a soft touch on her lips and tongue licking her lips, as soon as she was let loose, she ran from the room and went upstairs to her room.
I drank in Bonnie's heavenly fragrance of vanilla and honey in that cloakroom. I could stand in that cloakroom for eternity if she was with me. I was convinced that I didn't only want her but needed her. When she groped my manhood, I felt my entire body react to her presence and her hands. I was on fire. My manly organs responded to her exceptionally well. I was more aware now that we were made for each other and would do everything in my power to make that happen.
The full moon was only three weeks away, and Bonnie would be eighteen by that time. This would be the full moon for her to shift on her eighteenth birthday, and I want to be there to help her shift, so she will know I was her fated mate and accept him.
I thought after the kiss, Bonnie would feel the mate bond too. But obviously, she did not. I cannot wait for the shift to happen.
Finally, with disappointment, I returned to the group of people who were in the sitting room having coffee. I thought it would be time to go, so I made an excuse to leave.
The families were now discussing Nathan's new assignment, and Nathan asked Cameron to convince Bonnie to take his place in the Walters New York company. Uncle Cameron said, "I will convince her since this was a great opportunity for Bonnie. Plus, Bonnie's family business was connected to both the Rossens and the Walters."
Elise, on the other hand, disagreed with this and said, "Since Bonnie is still a student, she should seek employment with a smaller company. "Everyone ignored Elise and agreed that Bonnie must work within this pack, and Walters New York is the best company for her to get her to practice her managerial skills.
Elise was not happy with this decision. She was frowning throughout this decision process.
Bonnie's POV
I couldn't stop laughing, my belly aching as I felt my bladder pleading for relief. Excusing myself from the lively gathering, I made my way to the powder room adjacent to the foyer's cloakroom.
After a quick hand wash, I stepped out of the powder room, turning the corner beside the cloakroom when I collided with someone. My face broke into a friendly smile, assuming it was one of the ladies. But when I looked up into those piercing blue eyes, my heart skipped a beat. The man standing before me had an inexplicable hold on me, my heart racing with each passing second. My smile faltered, and I took a step back.
Simultaneously, I heard approaching footsteps, and panic surged within me. What if it was Elise? Without a second thought, I darted into the cloakroom, plunged into pitch darkness, and began to feel around. My hands brushed against something warm and firm, making my heart pound even harder. I was trapped in this dark space with someone else, and a low groan confirmed my worst fear. My breath quickened, and I contemplated whether to scream.
Gradually, my eyes adjusted to the darkness, and my cheeks turned crimson. I realized my hands were on the front of my tight, dark pants, dangerously close to my groin. Mortified, I gasped, shook my head, and stammered an apology. "I...I am so sorry for touching you inappropriately."
Suddenly, two hands gripped me beneath my arms, pinning me against the wall and a solid chest. I gazed up into those light iris-blue eyes, now dangerously close to mine.
As he lowered his head, about to kiss me, the sound of the door opening froze us in place. We stood in silence, feeling the intense desire radiating between us.
I stood still, torn between running and screaming. Fortunately, it was only cousin Louis, reaching for his coat as he exited the cloakroom.
When Louis left, I decided to follow suit, but Brian grabbed me and pulled me close. His lips crashed into mine, and I felt a soft touch of his tongue. As soon as he released me, I fled the room and rushed upstairs to my room, my heart pounding and my breath erratic.
Reflecting on my luck, I realized that it was only Louis who had come for his jacket. If it had been Elise, it would have been a disaster, and I would have had nowhere to go. I knew Elise would stop at nothing to get rid of me.
