Unconscious

Janna

I felt the desperation welling up within me, my tears streaming down as I clutched onto Alpha Jake's feet. "Please, Alpha Jake, don't do this. I love you. I can't live without you," I begged, my voice choked with emotion.

Alpha Jake attempted to gently disentangle himself, his expression a mix of sympathy and discomfort. "Janna, you need to let go. This isn't helping either of us," he implored, his tone firm.

But I couldn't relent. The fear of losing him, of being replaced, gripped me like a vise. "I'll do anything, Alpha Jake. I'll be the Luna you need. Please, don't push me away," I cried, my grip on him tightening.

Rico, the beta, approached, concern etched on his face. "Alpha Jake, we should get her off the floor. This isn't the way to handle things," he advised, glancing at me with a mixture of empathy and skepticism.

Alpha Jake nodded, attempting to pry me away gently. "Janna, I don't want to see you like this. Please, let me go," he urged, his voice laced with a sense of helplessness.

Refusing to release my hold, I suddenly slumped forward, my body seemingly losing strength. Alpha Jake's eyes widened with alarm. "Janna? Janna, what's happening?" he exclaimed, kneeling beside me.

"I—I can't go on like this," I gasped, feigning unconsciousness, all the while maintaining my grip on Alpha Jake's legs. The subtle satisfaction of my plan working played on my features, hidden beneath the façade of distress.

Alpha Jake, now visibly concerned, exchanged a worried look with Rico. "We need to get her to the guest room and call the pack doctor. Something's not right," he declared, taking charge of the situation.

Rico nodded, helping to lift me from the floor. "Let's get her settled, and I'll make the call," he said, shooting me a scrutinizing glance.

As they carried me towards the guest room, I continued to feign unconsciousness, my mind working overtime. The plan was in motion, and I couldn't help but revel in the satisfaction that Alpha Jake's attention was once again solely focused on me.

Inside the guest room, Alpha Jake carefully laid me on the bed while Rico made the call for the pack doctor. My eyes remained closed, my breathing shallow, as I awaited the next step of my calculated strategy.

I lay on the bed, pretending to be oblivious to the discussions happening around me. The muffled voices of Alpha Jake, Rico, and the pack doctor, Doctor Alvin, reached my ears. I peeked through barely opened eyes, catching glimpses of them huddled near the door.

Doctor Alvin, a middle-aged man with a calm demeanor, spoke first. "She seems physically fine. Perhaps it's just stress or emotional strain," he suggested, his eyes glancing towards me as they spoke.

Alpha Jake's brow furrowed in concern. "But she fainted out of nowhere. Are you sure there's nothing more serious going on?"

Rico chimed in, "Could it be related to the news about the new woman and the child, Alpha Jake?"

Doctor Alvin considered their questions before responding, "Well, stress can manifest in various ways, and emotional turmoil can certainly lead to physical symptoms. I recommend giving her some time to rest, and if the issue persists, we can conduct further examinations."

Alpha Jake sighed, his worry evident. "Alright, let her rest. We'll keep an eye on her."

As the trio left the room, I couldn't help but grin inwardly. The plan was working seamlessly. They believed my act, and now, left alone, I could revel in the success of my manipulation.

With the coast clear, I opened my eyes fully and sat up. The room was empty, and I took a moment to collect myself. This was my chance to solidify my presence in the pack, to ensure that Alpha Jake would choose me over the other woman.

Determined, I got off the bed and walked towards the mirror. I needed to appear weak and frail, as if the news about Alpha Jake's new family had taken a toll on my health. I adjusted my disheveled hair and practiced a pitiful expression.

As I heard footsteps approaching, I quickly returned to my position on the bed, looking as helpless as possible.

Alpha Jake, Rico, and Doctor Alvin reentered the room, their expressions a mix of concern and care. Doctor Alvin approached me, checking my vitals once again. "How are you feeling now?" he inquired.

I summoned the best semblance of weakness I could muster. "I—I'm still a bit dizzy," I stammered, casting a glance at Alpha Jake, whose worry seemed to deepen.

Doctor Alvin nodded. "It might take some time. Rest is essential. If there's any change, don't hesitate to call."

As they left the room once more, I allowed myself another satisfied smile. The game was on, and I was determined to play it to the end.

I felt the heaviness in my eyelids as I lay on the bed, still maintaining my façade of slumber. The room had grown dimmer, indicating that several hours had passed since my little performance. Despite my hunger, I resisted the urge to open my eyes immediately when I heard the door creak open.

Through my nearly closed lids, I could discern a servant entering the room, carrying a tray laden with food. The aroma wafted through the air, triggering my stomach to grumble in protest. Yet, I knew the importance of continuing the act.

The servant moved silently, setting the tray on the bedside table. I could hear the clink of utensils and the soft rustle of napkins. It seemed they were being meticulous in arranging the meal. I remained still, my breathing steady, feigning a deep slumber.

As the servant completed the arrangement, I heard a gentle sigh, perhaps one of sympathy or concern. "Poor thing," the servant whispered softly, mistakenly thinking I couldn't hear. "Alpha Jake should have never caused her so much distress."

I suppressed a triumphant smile. It appeared my act was convincing enough to garner sympathy from the pack members. With the tray meticulously arranged, the servant exited the room, leaving me alone with the tantalizing scent of the untouched food.

I waited a moment, ensuring the servant had truly left, before slowly opening my eyes. The room was empty once more, and my gaze immediately fell on the tray beside me. The spread looked delicious—fresh fruits, warm bread, and a bowl of soup. My stomach growled loudly in response.

The temptation was strong, but I knew I couldn't break character. Taking a deep breath, I continued my charade, remaining in a position of feigned slumber. The scent of the food, however, became increasingly irresistible, teasing my senses.

I could almost taste the warm soup and feel the juiciness of the fruits on my tongue. My stomach, a traitor to the act, grumbled louder as if urging me to abandon the pretense and indulge in the nourishment before me.

Closing my eyes once more, I focused on maintaining the illusion. The footsteps of passing pack members echoed outside the door, indicating that life in the pack mansion continued despite my fabricated ordeal.

The hunger persisted, but so did my determination. This act was crucial in securing my place in Alpha Jake's life. The hunger pangs would be a small sacrifice if it meant achieving my ultimate goal.

And so, I waited, my senses heightened by the aroma of the untouched meal, biding my time until the next phase of my plan unfolded.
