Chapter 2 Harassing Phone Call

Shelley pressed her lips, feeling a little hesitant.

She never thought about being a real couple with Adrian. After all, Shelley just wanted to fulfill Sienna's wish. She wasn't really ready to live with a stranger.

But...

If Sienna woke up and found out that Shelley was married but left apart from her husband, how was she going to explain it to Sienna?

So after hesitating for a few seconds, she accepted the money.

Then she replied, [Okay.]

Shelley would try to get used to the fact that she had a husband.

She decided to use the money Adrian had transferred to her to buy some things he could use. Shelley would buy what she needed with her own money.

Although they would live together, it was better to be clear about some things.

After figuring it out, Shelley hurried home by e-bike.

Shelley packed her things, then went to the underground parking lot with her suitcase, planning to drive there.

But looking at a row of flashy cars in the parking lot, Shelley fell silent.

She couldn't help but doubt the tastes of her professors and seniors.

Any one of their designs would be adored by thousands of people. But why they had such a unique taste in choosing cars?!

Shelley shook her head and chose to take a taxi.

Standing at the door of the apartment with a suitcase, Shelley fell silent again.

Adrian didn't tell her his door password.

Shelley was speechless. She sent Adrian a WhatsApp message.

[Mr. Layton, may I have the door password?]

After waiting for five minutes, she didn't get Adrian's reply. Shelley tentatively called him.

But the phone was hung up after two rings.

Shelley raised her eyebrows, guessing that Adrian should be busy. So she chose not to bother him.

She turned around and left the villa with her suitcase, ready to take a taxi back home.

Adrian hung up the phone, frowned, and threw the phone at the assistant, Michael Hall. "Deal with it. And check out why I got the harassing call."

"Yes, Mr. Layton."

Michael took the phone and turned around to leave the conference room.

Adrian turned to look at everyone in the conference room, "How far with Ella's whereabouts?"

"It has been confirmed that Ella is in Sea City, but the specific identity and location have not been found. Ella is so mysterious that we couldn't even be sure whether he was a man or a woman."

"Continue to check," Adrian tapped the table with his fingers and said, "The resort is an important key to the transformation of the hotel of Universe Inc. Ella's design style fits well with our future development plan, so we must convince her to join Universe Inc."

"Yes, Mr. Layton. We will find her as soon as possible." Adrian nodded and moved on to the next topic.

In the hallway, Michael blocked the "harassing caller" and was about to contact the communication company.

But he saw an unread WhatsApp message at a glance. Michael checked it.

Michael was familiar with the contact, who used Ella's first big hit work "Dream" as her profile picture.

It was Adrian's savior, Shelley, Mrs. Layton.

It was because of that profile picture that Adrian wanted to find Ella to cooperate with.

Michael glanced at Shelley's message, then replied.

L: [906386. You can enroll your fingerprints after unlocking.]

After promising to marry Shelley, Adrian asked Michael to buy an apartment in Astoria Villas to hide Adrian's true identity.

Therefore, Michael took care of everything in the apartment. So he knew the password by heart.

When the WhatsApp message popped up, Shelley just opened the ride-hailing app.

Seeing the message, she could only turn around and go back.

She opened the door of Adrian's apartment, and a room decorated with a cold tone came into her view.

She took off her shoes. After a short tour of the house, she concluded: The decoration fit Adrian's character well!

It looked good but cold, not like a home.

It rather looked like...

Thinking of the huge study room in black and white, Shelley smiled. It looked like an office.

Shelley walked around and got to know the apartment. Then, she put on her shoes and scanned her fingerprint on the door, then closed the door and left.

Adrian had been working until almost nine o'clock in the evening.

After processing the last document, he moved his stiff neck and said, "Michael, go prepare the car."

"Okay, Mr. Layton." Michael turned around, went to the door, and stopped. He said, "Mr. Layton, Mrs... Ms. Harper sent a message to ask for the door password. She should have moved there. Do you want to go and have a look?"

Adrian paused slightly while holding the coat. "Okay."

Michael nodded and turned around to prepare the car.

When Adrian went downstairs, he saw snow falling.

The night wind of the Sea City was colder than during the day, whizzing and blowing on people's faces as if trying to peel off their skin.

He frowned, thinking of that thin and slender figure for some reason.

She rode an e-bike through the heavy snow on such a cold day.

She must be freezing.

When Michael drove the car over, he saw Adrian look at the snow in a daze.

His handsome face looked a little colder than the snow. Michael's heart jolted. "Who poor guy made Mr. Layton 'bother' to think about him?"

"Michael, you go to prepare another car." Adrian got in the back seat of the Maybach, and his voice was unclear in the wind and snow. "About 14 thousand dollars, and suitable for girls."

Michael was slightly stunned. But then he realized that the car was probably bought for Shelley.

The car raced steadily in the wind and snow. After half an hour, it stopped at the underground garage of Block Six in Astoria Villas.

Adrian got off the car and said, "You don't have to pick me up tomorrow morning."

"Yes."

When Adrian opened the door and came in, Shelley, wearing home clothes, came out of the kitchen holding a plate of spaghetti.

The two looked at each other, freezing for a moment.

Shelley didn't expect Adrian to come back at this time. After all, he said that he had a lot of things to do and would come home late, so she simply made spaghetti.

She didn't make extra for him.

Adrian looked at the drastically changed apartment. He couldn't get used to it for a while.

He frowned slightly, and his eyes swept over some small decorative items she had visited many malls and bought in the afternoon. He looked unhappy.

After thinking about it, Shelley explained in a soft voice, "Sorry, you asked me to buy something I want, so... Mr. Layton, if you don't like it, I'll put it away later."

"No. Just leave them there." Adrian's voice was cold, and Shelley couldn't tell whether he was happy.

The atmosphere was a little awkward. Shelley glanced down at the spaghetti and said, "Mr. Layton, you..."

"Adrian."

"Huh?" Shelley didn't react for a while.

Adrian looked up at her and said, "Call me Adrian. Calling me Mr. Layton sounds like we're strangers."

After a pause, he frowned and asked, "Or do you prefer your husband to call you Ms. Harper?"

Only then did Shelley understand what he meant.

They were now a couple.

No husband and wife would address each other as Mr. or Ms.

"Okay." Her slender eyelashes drooped, and Shelley corrected herself and asked, "Adrian, did you have dinner?"

It was just a name. It made no difference whether it was Adrian or Mr. Layton.

"No," Adrian blurted out. Even he himself was startled.

He ate the takeout Michael had ordered for him.
