Chapter 5 Juicy News

After pondering for two seconds, Adrian still supported Shelley's arm, "Let's go."

Shelley passively followed in his footsteps into the hospital.

Sheller was thinking of an excuse to slip to the Department of Cerebral Surgery to see Sienna. At this time, a familiar voice reached Adrian's ears when they entered the hospital hall.

"Adrian?" Evelyn Brown asked in doubt, unable to believe her eyes.

Out of curiosity, she uncontrollably stared at Shelley, who was supported by Adrian. "What a coincidence. What are you doing here? Is this your friend?"

"When did Adrian have such a beautiful female friend?" thought Evelyn.

Adrian didn't expect to meet Evelyn here. He said, "Yeah." He looked at the report in Evelyn's hand and asked casually, "Are you here for a checkup?"

"Yeah." Evelyn nodded. She couldn't take her eyes off Shelley.

Shelley was well-behaved and looked gentle, with long blonde hair. A regular white down jacket wrapped her, and Evelyn couldn't tell her figure. But with her petite stature and non-aggressive facial features and eyes, people would easily develop good feelings for her.

Evelyn couldn't help but stretch out her hand to her. She said, "Hi, my name is Evelyn Brown. I'm... Adrian's friend."

She blinked and deliberately didn't reveal her real identity. Instead, she said they were friends, trying to mislead Shelley into thinking they would develop their friendship into something even more.

Adrian frowned but didn't refute.

He and Evelyn... were indeed friends!

"Hello," Shelley held Evelyn's hand and politely introduced herself, "My name is Shelley Harper."

She didn't say she was Adrian's wife, and there was no trace of hostility in her eyes, either.

Evelyn was a little surprised.

Evelyn thought, 'She either doesn't care about Adrian or is too sophisticated to see her real emotion.

It was interesting either way.'

Evelyn wanted to know more about Shelley. But Adrian suddenly interrupted, "Where's Caleb? He didn't come with you?"

Evelyn was speechless.

"Shelley hasn't said anything yet. Why was he so anxious to protect her?

Is he so afraid that Shelley will misunderstand and get angry?"

But Evelyn became excited after a few seconds. "Adrian has a woman, and he is so protective of her. If other friends know, they will be too shocked," thought Evelyn.

"He went to get the medicine," Evelyn replied with a smile and wanted to bring the topic back to Shelley.

But Adrian didn't give her a chance.

Supporting Shelley's arm, he took a step and said, "I will take her to see a doctor."

Then they walked away without looking back.

Evelyn stomped at Adrian's back, then excitedly ran towards her husband, Caleb Brown, who was in line at the pharmacy.

It was juicy news. She must share it with Caleb!

Adrian took Shelley to the Department of Cerebral Surgery while explaining, "She's the wife of a friend of mine. She is direct. I hope you won't mind."

Shelley didn't expect him to explain to her. She looked up at him with some surprise, then nodded evenly and said, "Okay."

She didn't say that she didn't mind at all. Otherwise, it would make Adrian's special explanation look like a joke.

Shelley couldn't do something that would embarrass others.

Her indifferent attitude made Adrian can't help but take another look at her.

He thought, 'Did she really not care, or did she know something about my relationships, so she was so calm?!

If it were the latter...'

Adrian frowned, his eyes becoming gloomy. He let go of Shelley's arm and took out the phone.

"You go to the surgery clinic and sit for a while. I'll make a phone call to the company. Then I'll go to line up." He had to let Michael check Shelley out.

Shelley glanced at the long queue at the registration window and forced a smile. "Okay, thank you."

As soon as Adrian left, Shelley immediately ran towards the elevator in the inpatient department.

When she came back from visiting Sienna and just walked to the door of the surgery room, she saw Adrian waiting there.

Adrian looked unhappy. He approached her while staring at her with cold eyes. "Where did you go?" he asked.

"I went to the bathroom." Shelley lied, her cheeks burning hot, feeling very guilty.

Adrian didn't say anything and just took a thoughtful look at her. "Let's go," he said.

"Is our turn?" Shelley looked at the waiting area, where there were still many people waiting.

Adrian's face was still. He replied flatly, "Yeah."

St. Edwards Hospital was under the Layton family. Adrian came to his hospital, so he didn't need to line up.

After some examinations, the doctor looked at Adrian and Shelley with a half-smile. "Well, well. What a loving couple. It's a minor injury. Fortunately, you came early. Otherwise, the injury would be cured."

Shelley was reddening in the cheeks and at the edges of her ears. She even almost buried her head into her chest.

But Adrian was calm. He was relieved that Shelley was fine and didn't care about the doctor's words.

After coming out of the hospital, Adrian got a phone call. There was something different in his eyes when he looked at Shelley again.

Before Shelley could figure out what was in his eyes, Adrian opened the shotgun seat's door. She could only get into the car.

Adrian drove all the way downstairs to her company. But Adrian always only gave her a cold and hard side face. Shelley wanted to speak several times but didn't know what to say.

After getting off the car, Shelley, standing by the car, said thank you to Adrian.

Adrian just gave a cold "Mmm," then added, "I have a dinner party tonight and can't pick you up."

Shelley nodded, keenly sensing Adrian's attitude towards her was colder and more distant than before.

She didn't know why, yet she didn't intend to ask more.

After all, Adrian said he didn't want Shelley to interfere with his affairs too much.

Looking at the car leaving fast, Shelley turned around, went upstairs, and entered the office.

Wayne called everyone for a meeting. Seeing Shelley, who had come late, he just glanced at her and said, "Hurry up. Go to the conference room."

Shelley nodded. She hurried to her desk, picked up a pen and notebook, and followed everyone to the conference room.

Her colleague Mia came to her side and poked her waist. "Are you stupid or something? You got plenty of personal days saved up. Why didn't you take more days off? You have worked overtime for so long. Weren't you tired?"

The client of the project they had just finished was difficult to deal with. The entire design department had been tortured. In the end, the good-tempered Shelley patiently talked to the client, and the client finally agreed on the plan.

"I'm fine." Shelley smiled softly and said, "However, why did Mr. Attlee suddenly call everyone for a meeting?"

Mia leaned close to her ear and whispered, "I heard Universe Inc bought a piece of land in Cindie and planned to build a resort. The company probably intends to give it a try."

"Universe Inc.? "Shelley opened her eyes wide in surprise. "It's one of the world's top 100 companies. Can we catch their eyes?"

Mia shook her head and said, "I don't know. There are rumors that the company wants to find Daisy's student Ella as the chief designer. I heard Ella was mysterious and difficult. Maybe some designers of big companies don't want to be inferior to Ella, and we can get a chance?"

Shelley stunned.

Universe Inc. wanted her to be the chief designer? Why didn't she know that?
