Chapter 6 Dream Wedding

Before Shelley could ask, her phone suddenly rang.

Seeing the sender of the message, she immediately smiled.

Seeing this, Mia leaned over and asked curiously, "Why are you smiling like this? Is it from your boyfriend?"

"No. It's from my senior."

Shelley clicked the message Alfred Payne sent. However, when she saw the content clearly, the smile on her face faded a little.

She knocked at the screen with her fingers and thought who the one who investigated her would be.

She quickly edited a message.

[Alfred, is he from Universe Inc.?]

Alfred replied quickly.

[Yes. But I have someone erase all the traces that should not be found. You don't have to worry about it.]

When Shelley was about to thank him, Alfred sent another message.

[Are you free tonight? Let's have dinner together.]

Shelley was stunned. She didn't know that Alfred was in Sea City.

After replying yes to Alfred's date, Wayne Attlee clapped his hands to bring himself to be noticed. Shelley quickly put down her phone and listened attentively to what Wayne said.

"I think you all have heard about the news that Universe Inc. is going to build a resort in Cindie." After saying that, Wayne paused on purpose. He looked around the crowd and then continued, "This is a very good opportunity. Although our company is not big, Mr. Hudson wants us to have a try."

Someone raised a question. "Mr. Attlee, Universe Inc. has always cooperated with Vast Inc. before. This time..."

"Three days ago, the contract between Universe Inc. and Vast Inc. expired, and they did not renew it," Wayne said excitedly with a complacent expression, "So, this opportunity is very rare. Many big names in the industry are eyeing this project. After a discussion with Mr. Hudson, we decided to ask Shelley to be in charge of the pitch, Zoe and Trista assisted her. Shelley, any questions?"

After thinking for a while, Shelley shook her head. Just as she was about to answer, Trista Browne interrupted her.

"Mr. Attlee, I would like to apply to be the person in charge of this pitch." She squinted Shelley in dissatisfaction and said, "My professional ability is as good as Shelley, and I have a senior who is working in Universe Inc. as the Director of the Corporate Propaganda Department. So, I have a way to send our design draft there."

Hearing this, Wayne hesitated.

In terms of professional ability, Shelley was better than Trista. But no matter how good the design draft was, it was useless if Universe Inc. couldn't see it.

Wayne looked at Shelley in embarrassment and asked, "Shelley, what about you? Do you have any channels?"

Shelley wanted to shake her head, but she suddenly remembered that Adrian seemed to be working at Universe Inc.

But she immediately dismissed the idea. "Let Trista be responsible. I will help her well."

"Okay, then it's settled." Shelley's understanding made Wayne feel very comfortable, and his smile was even brighter. "You all come up with a plan as soon as possible, and then draw the first draft. When you need some ideas, you call everyone to brainstorm together."

Trista, who was entrusted with a heavy responsibility, glanced at Shelley complacently. She responded excitedly, "Okay, Mr. Attlee. I will."

After the meeting, Trista took Zoe to the small conference room alone.

Seeing this, Mia immediately went to Shelley and asked, "Don't you want to say something when she targets you like that?"

"What should I say?" Shelley said casually.

Mia shook her head and said, "I've never seen anyone who is more broad-minded than you!"

Shelley was noncommittal.

She didn't care much about fame and wealth!

She cared more about her family and friends.

However, although she didn't care about Trista's targeting, she had to do her job well.

Shelley searched the information about the land in Cindie on the Internet and had a preliminary idea in her mind.

But if Trista didn't come to her, she would only keep these in her heart. She then turned to deal with some other business at hand.

Time passed very quickly when one was concentrating on doing one thing.

Shelley only realized that it was already noon when the phone rang and interrupted her thoughts.

It was a phone call from Adrian.

Shelley froze for a moment and then answered it.

"Are you off work?" Adrian's clear voice came over from the other end of the phone.

Looking at the half-empty office, Shelley knew that most of the colleagues had already gone out to eat. "Yeah. What's the matter?"

"I just happened to meet a client near your company. Do you want to have lunch together?" Adrian just got Shelley's information from Michael. According to the investigation report, she had no problem at all.

This made Adrian feel a little guilty of his unreasonable doubts about her.

So he wanted to treat her to a meal as compensation.

Shelley was thinking about telling him about not going home for dinner at night, so she agreed.

The place they were going to have lunch together was a restaurant two streets far from Shelley's company. It was quite nice. When Shelley got there, the elegant piano music just sounded. It was Richard Clayderman's Dream Wedding.

Shelley liked this piece of music very much. She paused at the door and subconsciously looked in the direction of the stereo with a hint of yearning in her eyes.

Adrian just heard the wind chimes ringing at the door and looked over.

Seeing this, he frowned.

He thought that Shelley was hinting that she wanted to have a wedding too.

When Shelley withdrew her gaze and prepared to look for Adrian, she noticed that hot gaze.

She looked over and just met Adrian's eyes.

His eyes were like a mysterious hole that could suck people in.

Shelley wondered why such a superior male youth didn't have a girlfriend.

Collecting her random thoughts, Shelley walked over quickly and said, "Sorry, I'm late."

Before she left the company, Mia just came back from lunch. And Mia dragged Shelley to make complaints about Trista and Zoe, saying that they were even talking about the case of Universe Inc. when having lunch.

"It's okay. What do you want to have?" Adrian gave Shelley the menu.

Shelley took off her down jacket and put it on the back of the sofa. She glanced at the menu and then gave it back to Adrian with one hand. "You order. I haven't been here before, so I don't know which dishes are delicious."

Shelley preferred traditional food to foreign food.

She thought that each cuisine, each dish, and each snack had its flavor.

Adrian didn't decline. He ordered a bunch of special dishes according to the menu.

After ordering, Adrian and Shelley looked at each other in silence, and the atmosphere was a little awkward for a while.

Shelley couldn't bear the oppressive atmosphere, so she spoke first, "Well... I'm going to meet a friend tonight, and I'll be home late."

After a pause, she added, "He is a very good male friend of mine. I regard him as my brother."

Adrian, who was cutting the steak, raised his eyes and said causally, "Okay. According to the agreement, I will not interfere in your private life as long as you don't cross the line."

There was a ten-second pause in the middle. And it was subtly expressing his obscure meaning.

Shelley nodded to show that she understood.

When she lowered her head to have the salad, she couldn't hold back but glanced at Adrian.

His movements of cutting steak were very elegant, and his every move was full of upbringing. He was like a prince living in the folk.

"Adrian, do you really... not have a girlfriend?"
