Chapter 2 It Will Hurt

There was sarcasm in Victoria's tearful eyes.

"You want to cling to the Haines family, but you don't want to sacrifice your daughter. Why don't you replace her yourself?"

"Shut up!"

There was no need to pretend anymore, so Lacey showed a vicious face.

"Didn't you always look for Nancy Collins? Three days ago, we found her. Only your father and I know where she is. If you promise to marry into the Haines family, I will tell you her whereabouts."

A photo was thrown beside Victoria.

Victoria picked it up with trembling hands, and when she saw Nancy in the photo, she finally shed tears.

Nancy was Victoria's biological mother.

Fourteen years ago, Nancy was driven crazy by Lacey and was sent to a mental hospital. Since then, Victoria could only live with Edward and Lacey.

In the past fourteen years, Victoria visited Nancy every day.

However, last month, Nancy got lost at the mental hospital, and Victoria had been looking for her.

Victoria never imagined that Lacey and Edward would be so vicious.

They found her mother three days ago, but they kept it from her. Now they used her mother to threaten her, so they were willing to tell her the truth.

"A crazy woman like Nancy will live a hard life wandering alone outside, and she may encounter accidents such as drowning or a car accident, and she may die.

"Victoria, don't you care about Nancy the most? As long as I tell you where she is, you can take her back to your side, and she will be safe..."

"Shut up!"

Victoria interrupted Lacey's words in a cold voice.

"You are not qualified to mention my mother's name!"

Victoria glanced at her mother's photo, and her gaze became more resolute.

"I agree!"

Ever since Victoria's mother was driven crazy, she never felt any warmth in this cold world.

Now, although her mother was delirious, she was the only person who had loved Victoria and her only concern in the world.

For her mother, Victoria could do anything.

Six days later.

Today was the day when Victoria married into the Haines family.

The wedding was simple.

The Haines family did not hold a grand wedding but only sent a car to the Collins family to pick up Victoria in the evening.

When the car drove into the Haines family, it was dark.

Victoria was sent to a bedroom by two women.

There was no light turned on in the room, and only a candle was lit.

With the dim light, Victoria vaguely saw a person lying on the bed in front of the window, motionless, like a dead body.

This person must be her groom, Edmund Haines.

"My wife is here."

The man suddenly spoke.

His voice was cold, as powerful as a king's aura, which made Victoria's feet freeze in place as if they were frozen.

It was said that Edmund suddenly contracted a strange disease a month ago, and his lower body was paralyzed. His face was ruined and became ugly, and he became a cripple who would die suddenly at any time.

Victoria never imagined that a paralyzed person could have such a magnetic voice.

"Come to bed."

His voice sounded again.

Before Victoria recovered, a soft and tough object wrapped around her waist.

As a strong force struck, Victoria was pulled forward again and fell heavily on the bed.

"Ah..."

Victoria cried out in pain and opened her eyes, only to see a man pressing on top of her. He had a handsome face, and his cold and deep eyes were like two whirlpools. Victoria glanced at them as if she was sunk in them.

"Are you Edmund?"

Victoria's breathing was heavy, and her voice was trembling uncontrollably.

Wasn't Edmund an ugly cripple?

Could she have entered the wrong room?

"Yeah."

The man's voice was cold.

His breath was warm and hot, brushing against Victoria's delicate face like a charming spring breeze.

Victoria's heartbeat beat faster.

The man looked at her fixedly, with a trace of strangeness hidden in his cold eyes.

What surprised him was the fragrance on Victoria's body.

This was a unique natural fragrance, like the ice lotus flower that only bloomed on the top of the snow mountain. It was fresh and faint.

Edmund had only smelled this kind of fragrance once seven days ago at night.

That night, it wasn't just the poison that made him lose control of the girl but also the seductive fragrance of the girl.

He didn't expect that Victoria also had this kind of fragrance. When he smelled it inadvertently, he felt as if returning to that night, and the involuntary impulse came again.

Damn it!

Edmund hated this feeling of being out of control the most!

He suppressed the scorching heat.

"Have we met before?"

Victoria regained her composure, and she was blushing. "No..."

"Are you sure?"

As he stared into her eyes, his aura was strong.

Victoria was never afraid of being stared at by others, but at this moment she was flustered by his staring.

"Yeah." She lowered her eyes subconsciously, but she could still feel his gaze, which made her face blush more.

"Yes."

Girls liked handsome men.

If Victoria had seen such a handsome man, she would have looked at him a few more times and would have remembered him deeply.

Edmund's eyes suddenly changed.

"Well, it will hurt. Bear with it."

His face was very close to Victoria's, and when he finished speaking, he leaned closer to Victoria. His beautiful lips moved closer to hers.

Victoria's heart stopped for a few beats.

Immediately afterward, her heart jumped wildly.

However, Edmund's lips stopped moving when they were about to touch her lips but went down to her neck.
