Chapter 1 Let's Divorce

"You’re infertile? Take this diagnosis and get out of here! The Myers family doesn't want a woman who can't bear children. Myra has returned, and she's been with Matthew these past few days. Show some self-awareness!"

As Marilla Myers uttered these words, a diagnosis of infertility fell to the ground.

Trista Bryant was completely dumbfounded, enduring her mother-in-law's verbal abuse before leaving.

In her mind, only these words remained. 'Myra Bryant has returned! Have I ultimately lost?'

She sat alone in the room, lost in thought, until darkness fell.

Around eight o'clock in the evening, the sound of a car engine could be heard from the yard.

Trista knew that Matthew Myers had returned.

Before long, the door was pushed open with a snap sound, and the lights were switched on.

Matthew entered with his suit jacket draped over his arm. With his long legs, he strode into the room.

He wore a white shirt on his upper body, with two buttons casually undone at the collar. His superior physique accentuated his exceptionally dignified and refined demeanor.

However, Matthew's handsome facial features were devoid of any expression, exuding a cool and aloof demeanor.

"Whenever you have time, sign the papers, and let's get a divorce."

Matthew said, placing the documents in front of Trista.

Matthew's deep and pleasant voice carried no warmth.

Trista had anticipated this long ago.

But her heart couldn't control the waves of pain that washed over her.

Uncontrollably, she gazed at Matthew and self-deceptively asked him, "Is it because of my 'infertility' that you want to divorce me?"

Matthew's gaze became freezing, and his tone was increasingly indifferent as he replied, "Trista, let's not make things worse than they already are. You more than anyone know why we got married in the first place."

Trista stared at him, her thoughts scattered.

She indeed knew.

Initially, Fabian Myers of the Myers family was seriously ill, and they wanted Matthew to marry a bride.

The chosen candidate for the bride should have been Myra.

After all, at that time, Myra was the heiress of the Bryant family.

However, during the premarital medical examination, it was discovered that Myra had no blood relation to the Bryant family.

Upon learning this, Wayne Bryant began an extensive search for his biological daughter, which led him to find Trista, who had been wandering outside as the true heiress.

And thus, the engagement fell upon Trista's shoulders.

On her wedding day with Matthew, Myra secretly came to see her, attempting to disrupt her relationship with Matthew by staging a fall down the stairs.

As a result, Myra broke her leg and was sent abroad for treatment.

This incident caused quite a stir, with everyone sympathizing with Myra.

Trista, on the other hand, was condemned by the masses!

Her biological parents despised her even more, accusing her of being heartless and showing extreme disgust toward her.

After all, Myra had been their daughter for nineteen years, a well-mannered and respected young lady.

Trista, the so-called biological daughter, was perceived as cruel and ruthless...

Thinking about Marilla's humiliation today, Trista couldn't help but feel amused.

Little did Marilla and the others know that it wasn't Trista who was infertile.

It was because Matthew had never slept with Trista since their wedding day!

The more Trista thought about it, the colder her heart grew!

''Maybe I shouldn't have held onto someone like him. His heart will never warm up.

No matter how good I've been to him these past two years, no matter how much I loved him, it was all in vain.

But I won't accept this divorce so easily!

Why should I let Matthew have the upper hand?''

Trista looked at the glaring divorce agreement and coldly said, "Matthew, I can sign it. But before that, you have to make love to me."

"What?"

Matthew was momentarily stunned as if he had misheard.

But before he could react, Trista had already grabbed his collar and kissed him.

She provocatively challenged him and said, "What's the matter? Don't want to? We've been married for two years, and I've dutifully done what a wife should do, taking care of you and being by your side. Even a nanny deserves a salary... Now I'm simply asking for compensation. Isn't that reasonable?"

Matthew's eyes revealed a chill as he heard her words, and his voice carried a tone devoid of warmth. "Trista, do you even know what shame is? Do you believe that you'll get what you want by provoking me this way?"

"Is it because of unwillingness or your own inadequacy?"

Trista continued with even more provocative words, "Mr. Myers, are you really, as the rumors suggest, lacking in ability? Impotent?"

Matthew was instantly provoked, his forehead veins pulsating. "Trista, you're in for it now! I'll show you just how capable I am!"

With that, he mercilessly grasped her chin and kissed her.

They engaged in passionate sex throughout the night.

In the end, Trista couldn't withstand the fatigue and fell asleep!

The next morning, when Trista woke up, Matthew was still fast asleep.

Silently, Trista packed her belongings and left a divorce agreement and a note on the bedside table, along with a one-dollar coin.

“Your performance is too poor, and I am thoroughly dissatisfied, Mr. Myers. You shouldn't engage in intimacy with anyone else anymore. Your horrible performance will scare them away! Consider this one dollar as payment for your labor last night. You're welcome!”

...

When Matthew woke up, it was almost noon.

He got up from the bed, and there was no sign of Trista in the room. Only scattered clothes bore witness to the previous night's sex.

His expression darkened as he felt regretful for falling into her provocation.

''How did I fall for her manipulation?

What's next?

Is she going to use this to blackmail me and continue this marriage?'

A trace of coldness flickered in Matthew's eyes as he believed he had figured out Trista's thoughts.

However, as he was about to get out of bed, his eyes caught something on the bedside table.

He paused, picked up the note, and read it.

Two seconds later...

"Your performance is too poor!"

"I am thoroughly dissatisfied!"

"You shouldn't engage in intimacy with anyone else anymore!"

"Consider this 1 dollar as payment for your labor last night!"

With each stimulating phrase entering his sight, Matthew's face darkened even further!

''Trista, this woman... How dare she speak to me like this!

She's utterly fed up!!!''

Matthew's face twisted in anger, and he angrily threw the divorce agreement aside, neglecting to sign it.

Right now, he only wanted to kill Trista!

Quickly, he put on his dressing gown and hurried downstairs.

Carey, the butler, saw him with a darkened face early in the morning and asked, "Mr. Myers, what's wrong? What happened?"

"Where is Trista?"

Matthew asked abruptly.

Carey was taken aback and replied, "Mrs. Myers left early in the morning with her luggage. She said she won't be coming back."

Upon hearing this, Matthew let out a cold laugh.

She sure left fast!

But... Could she really escape?

He called his assistant, Colby Ford, and shouted, "Go and bring Trista back to me!"
