Chapter 10

The next morning Clarie woke up late last night. Luckily today is the weekend so the girl didn't have to panic about going to the office to prepare a full day's work for her boss.

Clarie moved her hand to the side, but Lucas wasn't there. She sat up and wrapped the blanket around her naked body. A paper bag with a well-known clothing store brand in this city lay nicely next to the man's king-size bed. A greeting card is stuck in the neck of the paper bag. Clarie took the greeting card and opened it.

Good morning, Miss Evans. Sorry I have to go away for work. I bought you a set of clothes, I hope you like it.

_Lucas.

Her lips curled into a smile as Clarie read the man's message. Clarie immediately saw what was in the paper bag and took out its contents. A V-neck chiffon dress with short sleeves in a soft pink color.

"Beautiful," said Clarie with a smile on her lips.

After cleaning herself, Clarie looked at herself in front of the long mirror in Lucas' room. The girl repeatedly twisted her body, the dress fit perfectly on her slightly plump body. The man really could pick out a pretty outfit and it fits perfectly on her body.

Clarie left Lucas' apartment and returned to her flat. It took less than thirty minutes for the taxi that Clarie was taking to her flat. The girl went down and went straight into the building and went up to the third floor where her residence was.

Daniele wasn't at home at the moment, she was so calm that she didn't have any questions to answer for her friend.

Currently, Lucas was at a large family gathering at the Henderson residence. He purposely didn't wake Clarie earlier and let her rest.

"Hey, Luke you coming?" said Jessica, her biological sister. Lucas just raised his eyebrows. "Alone?" asked Jessica again.

"As you can see," he said casually.

"Enjoy your day, Luke," Jessica said as she walked away leaving him to greet other relatives.

Marion rarely attends family events like this, because her busy life as a well-known model takes up a lot of her time. Her family didn't mind at all about the profession Marion had been in for a long time. While Lucas follows what his family wants.

"Hi darling." Rose Henderson hugged her eldest son warmly.

"Hi, Ma how are you?" Lucas asked the woman he loved so much.

"I'm glad you came, even without Marion. By the way, when is she coming home?"

Lucas shrugged. To be honest, he didn't even know when his wife will come home. The last time they spoke on the phone, Marion said she would be home after this weekend.

"Maybe the day after tomorrow," he said uncertainly.

"Mama has missed her so much," Rose said with a longing smile.

"You mean you won't ask for grandchildren from us, right?" he pointed.

"Come on, Luke. You've been married for two years, how come you still can't give me a cute and adorable grandchild?"

Lucas chuckled. "Didn't Jessica give the baby to mama? Is that still lacking?" Lucas asked with narrowed eyes.

"Hey! It's different."

"What is the difference?" challenge Lucas.

"Ah! Never mind, I'm tired of talking to you, so I'll just wait for Marion to come home." Rose stepped away from her second son. Lucas just smiled crookedly because he managed to outwit his mother.

After all, Marion didn't like children at all, that was what the woman had said the first year they were married. And, that statement was able to make Lucas a little shocked. He felt strange with the marriage he had been living all this time.

His father asks him to meet the girl he is going to be betrothed to at a restaurant. At first, Lucas was against the arranged marriage, he had refused. However, after knowing who the girl he would be betrothed, he immediately wanted to meet her.

Then here he was, meeting the girl in person. Lucas looked at the green-eyed girl with a look he couldn't really decipher. Marion Larsen, a well-known beautiful model whose face has often been on the covers of leading magazines and is often a guest star on a TV show, now sits in front of Lucas discussing the arranged marriages of their parents.

"I agree with this matchmaking, but..." The girl paused.

"What?" Lucas asked impatiently.

"Let me ask you."

"Please."

"Are you willing to accept this arranged marriage?" asked Marion with an adorable face.

"Why not?" Lucas knows who Marion Larsen is, a well-known model in his country, besides that his father is a well-known businessman in and out of town. Marion is beautiful and energetic, of course, many men admire her, Lucas is no exception.

"What is your reason for accepting this match?" asked Marion again. How is it possible that the man accepts this match? thought the girl.

"I know you and admire you very much," Lucas said the truth. Indeed, in fact, he really admired the girl, so he did not refuse when his father had arranged this match.

"Only that?" asked Marion again.

"Of course not. I want to have a perfect little family da-"

"Wait! Wait. Perfect family like children? Is that what you mean?" Marion asked, quickly cutting Lucas off.

"Correct."

"I don't like kids, Luke. And, I don't want to get pregnant, let alone give birth. No!"

Lucas frowned, he was surprised by this girl. Why can a woman refuse to get pregnant and have children, is that normal? thought Lucas in surprise.

"If you agree to this marriage, we must make a deal. What do you think?" Marion offered.

"What kind of deal?" Lucas asked, he was starting to dislike this discussion.

"We're married. However, we are not really bonded."

Lucas closed his eyes tiredly. What kind of game is this?!

"Listen to me, Luke. I already have a girlfriend…"

"Why didn't you say so from the start? You can say it straight away and refuse it doesn't have to be complicated like this!" Lucas snapped. He was furious with the girl's attitude which angered him.

"It's not that simple, Luke. It's complicated and I really need you. We got married and I'll explain everything to you after we get married."

"Up to you!" And, stupidly he would just comply with the wishes of the girl.

.

Lucas drove his car in the direction back to his apartment. He knew that Clarie was not there. He could have come to her place of residence and shocked her when he found himself standing at the door of her flat. Just imagining that made Lucas smile to himself. But, not today, he was going to let her rest after he exhausted her last night.
