CHAPTER SEVEN
Imelda's Pov
I had left Xavier sulking, with that bitch after she rudely interrupted our discussion. She's Just everywhere I go when I'm with him and it's so damn annoying.
I laid down on my bed anyways and thought of the beautiful night spent with Alpha Xavier when I suddenly heard a wolf howl. I went numb until the noise died down but the worst I expected began a few seconds later, as a battle cry was heard.
The cracking of bones, the howling, groans and growls of wolves was what rented the air. I was about to move out when Irene came barging into the room.
"Come with me, Alpha Xavier said I should keep you safe." She offered with a hurried look on her face. There was something else to that look that made me reluctant to follow her but when I heard the clanking of swords and the stench of blood all around, I obliged.
I followed her and she led me towards the palace library.
"What are we doing here, Irene? And why did Xavier tell you to protect me? We should both be out there defending others." I protested, developing an eerie feeling for all these.
"I hope you understand that you're the cause of all these fights. Before you joined this pack, we were one calm and peaceful society so I'll suggest you shut up and allow me to fulfill the alpha's wishes." She poured out and my heart pricked me.
"Did he say you should do away with me?." I asked and she smirked.
"And what if he did?." She replied and gave me a hard glower.
Soon, she shifted a book rack and a ladder became visible.
"Climb up the ladder." She ordered and I obeyed instantly. I climbed till I got out of the ladder that seemed like a tunnel, but then I saw Alpha Blake.
I turned around almost immediately but Irene blocked my way with a sarcastic smirk.
"Well, well, well. Look who has come to visit, my long lost cat." Alpha Blake said and they both ruled out in laughter.
Now I get it!! This was all a plan and Irene was in on it.
"How could you Irene? How could you betray your own pack?." I asked, also trying to mindlink Xavier but it wasn't working. It's like something was blocking it.
"Watch it, I didn't betray my pack, I saved them.. and secondly, stop trying to mindlink Xavier. It's not gonna work." She started and crept back on the ladder going down.
Alpha Blake grabbed me by my way so as to stop me from escaping but I sent a kick to his groin and that disorganized.
Irene only smirked and said while raising her hands in a kind of witchy gesture.
"I control the wind with the blood of men." She chanted and her eyes turned pitch black, abruptly it felt like my head was banging in different places and I could feel myself spacing out...
" Xavier......." I tried saying but couldn't as everything suddenly wiped out.
When I woke up, I was already deep inside the woods. I could feel Xavier's pain but I didn't mind linking him, my thoughts drifted to Irene and I raised my head up to survey my surroundings.
As I raised my head up, I saw the eyes of 7 ladies staring at me piercingly but Irene....she was nowhere to be found. Hope I'm not hallucinating things this time.
I stared at them like I was about to ask them a series of questions but nothing proceeded out of my mouth. I felt numb, dumb and confused.
The most terrifying part was that they were all dressed in black, with black hoodies covering their faces, preventing me from seeing their faces.
"Who are you?." I finally got the courage to ask but no reply came forth.
"Hello.....I said who are you?." I solicited but they all exchanged glances and never said a word.
Then in a haste, one of them got up and said:.
"Sisters, it's time." She proclaimed and they all stood up in jinx.
"Witches and time." One chanted.
"Witches suspend fate." Another replied.
"Witches control the wind with the blood of men." They all said in unison.
The last line got me thinking where I had heard that sentence before. One thing was sure, they were witches but even if we were sworn enemies, there was no way I would be able to fight them all off. By the way...I'm bound.
Irene! Does it mean Irene was a witch? It couldn't be! She had a wolf form, for one I've seen her shift a couple of times.
Nothing transpiring that night was connecting and the more I tried to understand, the more my brain fell into pieces.
Finally, I heard Xavier's voice at the back of my head.
"It's alright Imelda, I'm here for you. I promise to get you out safe and sound."
My heart was overjoyed because I knew that right now, nothing was going to happen to me.
After all, my mate had made a promise and he never made promises that he didn't fulfill.
In a few minutes, he was already here and fought off the witches whilst taking me back home.
A ray of blinding light hit my eyelids as I struggled to open them up. My whole body ached but then, that familiar scent of peaches hit my nostrils and I looked up.
Xavier was right here, seated at the edge of the bed as he gazed into space.
"Xavier." I called and he looked up. Giving me that heartwarming smile, he brushed my hair backwards.
"How are you feeling?." He asked in concern.
"Well, I'm alive and I have that going for me which I guess is nice." I conversed and he chuckled.
"That's great!." He said warmly.
"What happened at midnight?." I asked as I wanted to get a clear understanding cause everything was falling in pieces.
"That would be for later, as for now, there's something you need to see." He stated and signaled the guard at the door.
Just then, Irene was brought in, bound in both hands and foot.
