Chapter 6: Fiona

Chapter 6: Fiona

Natalie

I waited for her to say something but she never did. She averted her eyes a few seconds later and went back to playing with her toys.

"Well then, I will just sit over there. If you need anything don't hesitate to ask."

I sat on the couch that wasn't too far from him. After a short while I got bored, all that I was doing and was looking at this little girl playing silently with his toys, nothing else. This is not fun at all.

I finally averted my eyes from her and looked around the room. My eyes went to the large flat screen tv that was facing me. Maybe I should watch a movie because I am not just going to sit here feeling bored.

"Hey, hmmmm…." I trailed off, trying to find a name for Mr. Ballmer's daughter.

"Would you mind if I turn on the television?" She stopped playing with her toys for a few seconds but still didn't look at me.

No response again, she went back to playing with his toys and I sighed. Letting out another sigh, I lay back on the couch feeling boredom wash over me once again. This is the most boring day ever!

"So, what are your favorite colors?" I asked her again but got no response.

I was trying to make conversation with her since my bored ass was already itching but this kid didn't even talk once. She kept ignoring me and I wonder why I never did anything to her. Or maybe, she just hates people, just like me.

I scoffed inwardly and folded my arms as I stared at the television. It was almost two in the afternoon and I have been here since ten and I am so damn hungry right now.

Few more hours, Natalie. Just three more hours to go and then you can go home and see your puppy, Molly and then cuddle in bed after filling my empty stomach.

My stomach suddenly started grumbling and I groaned at how hungry I actually am. I will bring my lunch with me tomorrow for sure. I sighed again as my eyes went to the child.

'How can she not be hungry?'

I thought while I tilted my head and jumped a little when the door was open suddenly revealing Mr. Ballmer.

"Mr. Ballmer." I greeted immediately and I saw him standing in front of the door. I got up on my feet as he started walking towards me.

"How is everything going? Is she causing any trouble?"

He was standing in front of me now and his eyes stared hard into mine, making me tremble slightly, feeling nervous and scared.

"No…no, she is very…quiet." I responded as I looked away and stared down at my feet.

"Hmmm, Fiona is like that, she doesn't talk much, mostly around people he doesn't know." I nodded my head, my eyes looking at the girl now.

So Fiona is her name, what a beautiful name. I averted my eyes from her and my eyes found its way to Lorenzo who was looking at his daughter's face and then to mine over and over again and it made me frown.

"Um, is there something I can do for you?" My voice came out like a whisper but I was sure that he heard me because he averted his eyes from his daughter instantly.

"Oh, yes. I just came to check up on my daughter and to also tell you that you can go on your lunch break since you didn't come prepared to work today. Go get your lunch, eat there if you would like but it is only for today. Starting from tomorrow, you will bring your lunch to work, understand?" I nodded.

"Yes, Mr. Ballmer."

"Good, you can go now while I keep an eye on my daughter. She should be back in less than thirty minutes."

I thanked him before leaving the room and made my way to the elevator where I bumped into Mr. Thomas again.

"Ah, Miss. Jackson, going for lunch?" He asked as we both entered the elevator.

"Yes, do you happen to know by any chance where I can get food around here?" I tilted my head.

"Yes, I am passing by one of the restaurants to get lunch for myself. I can show you where it is." I nodded.

The elevator opened and we both excited the office building, walking on the street as the hot sun shone down on us.

"Molly!" I exclaimed as I entered my house.

I just returned from my first day of work and I am so tired and happy to see my dog.

"Miss mother?"

She snuggled into my arms, she just barked at me and I giggled as I walked towards the kitchen. Taking out a can of dog food, I poured it out into her bowl before throwing the can away and watching her devour it in only a few seconds.

I walked to the bathroom to take a shower, finally I am back home after a boring first day. I let the cold water run through my body as the thought of that little girl looking exactly like me came flooding back to my head.

What could all this mean? Was it just a mere coincidence? If my daughter wasn't stolen, she could be the same age as her. Anyways, I don't want to think about that incident anymore. I have already moved on but for some reason, I felt somewhat attracted to this life and I don't know why.

I let out a deep breath as I walked over my bathroom to my bed. I closed my eyes and allowed myself to be drowned in sleep. Tomorrow is another work day.

** Next day**

I woke early enough to get ready, I don't want to give Mr. Ballmer the reason for thinking of firing me.

"Good morning, Mr. Thomas." I greeted as I saw him walking towards the elevator.

"Miss, Jackson, how are you?"

"I am doing quite fine, Mr. Thomas and you?" We are both walking towards the elevator now.

"Great, how was your first day?"

"It was fine," I shrugged.

"I am glad to hear that" we were both waiting for the elevator to open.

"Good morning, Mr. Thomas." A voice suddenly spoke and I jumped a little, turning around and seeing Mr. Ballmer approaching us.

He had his hands in his pockets while his eye met mine. He was staring coldly at me and it made me frightened.

"Mr. Ballmer, good morning to you." Mr. Thomas greeted me with a little bow and I stood there silently."

"Good morning." He responded, returning his gaze to meet mine.

I trembled slightly as his cold eyes stared into mine once again and I couldn't help but wonder why I was so afraid of him.

"And good morning to you, Miss. Jackson. How was your night." He cleared his throat, bringing out my little daze.

"It was good," I averted my eyes at him.

Finally the elevator opened, I let out a sigh of relief and quickly entered. I turned around only to see Mr. Ballmer standing next to me and Mr. Thomas was still standing outside.

"Mr. Thomas, are you not coming?"

I asked, tilting my head with a frown and watched him look at Lorenzo and then back to me.

"Um, I will come up later. I have some other work to take care of for now. See you around Miss. Jackson." He waved at me as the elevator door closed.

I was still confused at what he just did, why would he wait in front of the elevator for so long instead of doing the work he said he has to take care of. It just doesn't make sense. I shouldn't be thinking about that now, I am in an elevator with him alone and l was nervous like hell right now.

My breathing pace got a little louder as I felt my hands get sweaty at how nervous and scared I was. I secretly prayed that we could arrive at the top floor very quickly. A lot of thoughts were running through my head right now but why was I so scared of him? Maybe it is because of the way he looked at me or maybe because he is Mr. Ballmer, one of the scariest CEOs.

"Miss. Jackson. Are you scared of me?" He asked, fully turning his body to face me with raised eyebrows.

He was staring kneely at me and our lips were just an inch away from each other. I was in his gaze that I didn't know when his lips crushed mine, surprisingly I kissed him back. Goodness, what is happening to me.

The sound of the elevator opening made us pull away.

"Um…I better be going, Mr. Ballmer. I don't want to be late."

I scurried out of the elevator and when I turned around, he had a smirk on his face, he winked causing my face to redden more.
