Chapter 6

I woke up late this afternoon. I wanted to rest as much as possible before I met my friend Kahina. Kahina was coming to spend some time with me at the resort. Since Kahina is so extroverted, I like to rest before I meet her. My social battery always runs out too quickly.

I showered and dressed in a baggy shirt. The front desk called and informed me of Kahina's arrival. I asked them to show her to my room.

"Lord, today is about to drain me," I said.

Knowing Kahina, we will drink the rest of the day away. I sat and waited for her to arrive.

(Open the door) was the text I received.

This woman likes being dramatic. I mean she could have knocked. Anyway, I opened the door and she flew in.

"Nice room," she complimented as she looked around.

"Yap"

"What's with this bored energy? Girl, you are on vacation. Let's do some vacation activities," she plotted.

"I just want to sleep," I groaned.

"Sleep my foot. You are young and beautiful, sleep is not for you. We will rest in our graves," she said.

"Mmhh" I agreed.

"When was the last time you got laid?" she asked.

"Excuse me!!!" I choked.

"When was the last time you got some... something - something? You know what I mean."

"I can't remember."

"Lol! So you have some cobwebs down there!" she laughed.

"You are annoying!"

"And you are in a dry spell!"

"I'm used to it. Leave me alone."

"Let's get you some dick today," she decided.

How was I friends with her? How???? How are we friends? We are so different.

"So what's the plan?" I asked her.

"Have you eaten yet?"

"Not yet."

"Let's go eat and drink some cocktails, while we listen to good music."

"Sounds like a plan."

"But you are not going out dressed like that," she decided.

"Why? What's wrong with what I'm wearing?"

"Huh...sometimes you behave like an old woman, Avah. Do I have to remind you that you are young? Have you forgotten how much you exude goddess energy?"

"What are you talking about?"

"Avah, you are a goddess. Most times you heal and help, but you also need to find your god. You can't stay alone like that. Your job takes most of your time, which I understand, but now is the time to let yourself shine. Give the people what they need!!" she blabbed on.

I pretended to get what she was saying so that we could move on to a new topic. As usual.

"Did you bring some bathing suits?"

"Of course, I'm not a cave person."

We went through my bathing suits and I chose a black two-piece suit and a black leso. I changed into a new outfit.

"You look amazing," she said.

"Thanks."

"Imagine hiding all this black excellence."

"Sttaaaap!"

I picked a pair of sunglasses, sunscreen, and some black sandals.

"Do you have a speaker?" she asked.

"Yes, you can pick it up from the closet," I instructed.

With everything we needed, we left the room. We went to the swimming pool area. The swimming pool was huge, forming an infinity shape. The area was almost empty, except for the other side of the pool where a group of guys filled a table.

We prepared our side and sat lazily on the lounges. The weather was sunny with a gentle breeze. Perfect for us.

We ordered lunch and some cocktails as we started. Kahina connected her phone to the speaker and played some soothing RnB. This was the start of a long and fun afternoon.

Our food arrived quickly. Once we were full we began drinking the cocktails. One after the other, we drowned them as if competing, and before long we were feeling tipsy.

"Do you think you'll ever talk to Namjoon?" she asked out of the blue.

"Why?" I turned to face her.

"You always talk about him. I mean, you compare every man who hits on you to him. How will you ever find a man the same as him?"

"I don't think I compare them consciously. It just happens."

"Dude, you are in love with an idol."

"I know," I sighed.

"What was that one rule in K-pop?"

"Never fall in love with your idol," I stated.

"So what are you going to do, my dear?"

"Honestly, I don't know. I will look for someone who makes me feel like he does. Or maybe this love will fade away after my heart realizes how unrealistic it is."

"I feel for you though. Damn, he's hot. I understand why you feel the way you feel."

"That's life. We can't always get what we want. And how come you know so much about K-pop anyway? Didn't you say it was stupid?"

"Well, after you went on and on about Kim Namjoon and BTS, I started checking out their music."

"What do you think?" I asked, my eyes large with excitement.

"Great. I don't understand three-quarters of the things they say, but the melody is good."

"And their looks?"

"Bruuh, how can a man look like that? He's more beautiful than me."

"They look like that."

"I mean, is it edited or what?" she asked.

"No, they look like that in real life."

"Wow, some people are truly blessed. God took some extra time to create them."

"I know, right."

The next cocktail was brought and we continued talking. We talked about her job and the guy she was dating. Judging from her facial expressions, she was in love with the guy. I was so happy for her and at the same time, I was jealous.

When would I get someone who understands me like this? Someone who isn't famous or an idol or unattainable. Maybe love was not for me. It saddened me that I might never experience that type of love in this lifetime.

"Let's make some TikToks," she said out of nowhere.

We danced, recorded each other, and made the weirdest videos. We listened to some afrobeats and lip-synched. It was fun. It was more fun than I had expected. It felt like we were at it for hours, but it was only three hours.

The table across the swimming pool kept stealing glances at us. Although we were acting crazy, I didn't think it was that bad.

"Put 'Mikrokosmos'" I said.

"You know it too?" she asked.

"I love that song!"

We used our sunglasses as microphones and stood up to sing and dance. We were so loud that this time they didn't hide, they were looking at us. I waved at them and made a heart shape as we danced.
