SHANIA’S POV

I woke up and my blurry vision kept me from seeing things crystal clear. I was lying on my bed and I touched my head. I was feeling dizzy. With my vision, everything seems like it's in the middle of an earthquake. I saw Brandon lying next to me.

He looks so innocent in his position, his lashes boast while his eyes are closed. But no, when he wakes up, I just want to punch him in the face? Maybe. I just want to win. I never get to win every time he speaks because he always has a point.

Like, my gosh! Where are those words coming from? I always give up and agree with whatever he says.

I tried to sit up slowly, but despite my caution Brandon woke up. I was about to yawn, but never mind, I just wanted to know what he would say. He opened his eyes and he turned his gaze to me.

"You're awake," he said and I took a glass of water from the table beside me.

"How are you feeling now?" Brandon asked. I was still holding the glass of water and I drank before answering him.

"I'm fine," I replied and he helped me sit up properly.

"Are you hungry? What do you want to eat?" He asked me again. Part of me wants solitude and wants to be alone in this room, but a part of me also says that I need him.

I think I have bad breath now so I need to brush my teeth. I got up and straightened my body and went to the bathroom to brush my teeth but he grabbed my arm.

"Where are you going? Tell me what you need and where you want to go, and I’ll assist you or get you what you need," Brandon said.

I tried to remove his hand because I need my arm. Give me what I need? Huh, not so good with him when he’s with me. I just want to brush my teeth.

"Shania, I said I'll assist you," Brandon insisted as I finally took his other hand away from me. I sighed in frustration. Brandon looked at me waiting for me to say something.

"The sink!" I cry out in frustration. He willingly let go of my arm and I rolled my eyes at him. Bring me what I need? Will he take me to the sink? Man of words, huh!

I went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth and then my head hurt again. I put my hands on my head and my other hand on the sink. It was like pins of needle piercing my head and my temples ache with growing tensions.

Shania? Are you okay? Why are you taking so long?" I heard Brandon's voice outside the bathroom door.

I waited for it to disappear and quickly finished brushing my teeth. When I grabbed the handle and opened the door and came out, Brandon was just outside walking back and forth. I looked at him for a few seconds and I started to feel dizzy again.

"Stop it, will you?" I said and rolled my eyes. Brandon stopped and turned at me. He was wide awake and I saw no sign that he would retreat back to the bed. I went to my closet to change my clothes so I could go downstairs.

"Where are you going?" Brandon asked me and I turned my head at him. He pointed to the clock on the wall and it was only three in the morning.

Maybe it is broken. Is that true? I slept almost 13 hours? Without eating? I put my hands on my stomach and it was like they had a congregation inside that would make my stomach sound embarrassing when I put my hands on it. Brandon heard this and looked at me. Ah, his face never fails to amaze me.

"Are you hungry?"

I nodded and tried to hide my smile.

"I'll buy what you want, wait here,” Brandon said and left the room.

I grinned in the silence. I don’t know why but I just felt it. I wandered my eyes in the room and I was alone. The silence gave me time to hear my own breath and I walked in front of the mirror.

I stared at it as if the reflection was not mine and then I remembered what happened to me yesterday. How Brandon killed that vampire and how he saved me. Maybe it could have been worse if he hadn’t come in time.

I may have been dead inside that forest without anyone knowing for the first time in my life. I felt so grateful to the person I should have hated. The experience was a nightmare. I looked at the scratch on my arm, it was still there, and I looked at my face and the scratch was still there.

I felt my skin tighten on my arm so I looked at it and my wounds were healing. My eyes widened when I saw it. What is going on? Is it self -healing? I kept staring at it. I could feel my spine tingle as I watched the scratches change. Brandon entered the room with a tray in his hands.

"Here, delight yourself,” Brandon said and placed the tray on our mini table in the bedroom.

Maybe because I’m already hungry and possibly, what I saw was wrong. I thought of it and looked again in the mirror before sitting down.

"I'll ask my father for medicine so that the scratches don’t leave scars," Brandon told me as his eyes fell on my face.

"Don't go back there, Shania," he added and then his eyes told him that there is more to his words.

“I won’t. I'm sorry." I lowered my head. He put his hand on my chin to lift my head and looked me in the eye.

"It's okay, just don't do it again. You scared the hell out of me," Brandon said and averted his eyes.

"Eat your food, it’ll be cold," he said and smiled at me.

I started eating and a minute later I finished it with Brandon watching my every move. I found it uncomfortable but I was very hungry so I ignored it. He was observing me, how I ate the food and gulped it, how I cross my legs and sat in an Indian seat and dived into the food.

"How are you feeling? Are you okay?" Brandon asked me after I drank water.

"Yes. I feel better now," I answered and slightly smiled.

"Great, then rest again. We have hours before the morning, well, it’s already morning but it’s too early. So you can sleep better if you want," Brandon uttered and went to the sofa. He lay there and put his arms to cover his eyes.

"Brandon?" I called and he lifted his head and turned to me.

Three seconds passed and then I muttered, “Thank you.” That was sincere and I meant it.

"You're welcome. I'll save you a hundred times as long as I can Shania, just to let you know,” he said and turned his back on me.

I am so grateful for what Brandon did. I felt worse at times when I was rude to him. Brandon saved me and I don’t think he deserves to be treated harshly anymore. I should try to be kinder to this family, especially to Brandon. I meditated and contemplated on my actions until I fell asleep.

"Shania? It's eight in the morning," Brandon whispered in my ear. I felt his breath against my skin. I lazily opened my eyes and felt blessed to see his face at dawn.

"Hmmm… okay," I said almost in a whisper and turned to the other side. Brandon stopped bothering me and I fell asleep again.

BRANDON'S POV

I woke Shania up but she looked exhausted and she turned away when I tried to wake her up. I was about to put my hand on her arm to wake her again when my eyes landed on the place where the vampire scratched her arm.

The wound is gone. I shook my head as I thought about what had happened. The wound is gone. I'm sure there was not even a mark on her, did it heal on its own?

I let her sleep and I didn't bother to wake her up. I went down to have breakfast with my family.

"Where's Shania? How does she feel?" My mother asked me.

"She said she was feeling better, she said she was very sleepy so I didn't wake her up," I said and sat down in the chair. I left an empty seat, the seat where Shania always sat on.

"Did you kill the vampire?" My father asked me this time and I nodded to him.

When I brought Shania home, she was unconscious and they were already outside the house waiting for us. The girl told them what had happened. They are just as worried as I am.

"I was wondering if you could give Shania medicine so her wounds wouldn't leave a scar?" I asked my father. I don’t want Shania to remember what happened the other day.

"Of course,” he simply replied and I nodded.
