Chapter 2 Imogen's POV

The screeching sound of the windshield wiper pierced through my ears. Oh! It was morning already and the rain was over. Holy shit! My head hurt as I raised it off the steering wheel. I wiped off the stain of blood that I didn't know where it came from but I guess it was from my strained forehead probably when I pulled to rest unconsciously.

I annoyingly pushed the lever to the 'off ' position and rested my head on the seat feeling so giddy. My legs were higher as I was matching on something hard. I looked down under my foot and saw Cans and bottles of beer littering around the footrest of the car. I had drunk so much overnight, too much to get me unconscious. It all began with a slow steady Western wind followed by constant pouring of rain before I snatched this car away from a lady who seemed to be in her twenties to a nearby pub where I purchased different kinds of liquor with the money in her purse.

What do you expect me to do after being betrayed and rejected? I was not the type that drank. Drinking liquor was what I hated when I was still in my pack but ever since I ran out to this place in pain I had no other place to go than to stay around the pub and drink away my sorrow. It feels good, at least I would forget my pain for some hours before struggling with it again.

Last night was a blast! It was a remorseful day nevertheless because I wished I was not created by the moon goddess. I was at a love gathering yesterday where couples were performing all sorts of intimidations all in the name of feasts. It was an intimidation to me because I had always dreamt of something like that happening to me but it ended up not happening to me instead it kept happening to other people as well as the lover birds in the love gathering.

It made me remember the sacrifices I had made for love and how I was desolated before everyone in the Red Moon pack. This made me shed uncontrollable tears and got me overthinking, driving me to insanity. I had no other choice but to opt in for multiple liquors as much as I could to erase the pain temporarily. It was about to rain but I was so lucky to snatch this car from a lady in her twenties with my wolf strength coupled with my aggression and moved to the popular pub of the City where I bought this series of liquors and drank them as I drive while the windshield wiper was on. And boom! The next thing I could remember was waking up from what humans called a hangover and seeing the windshield wiper still working.

Ever since I ran out of my pack to this City where humans dominate, I had been partially homeless, uncovered, and unruly. I didn't even get a place to hide my head other than a single room that was owned by a stranger I didn't know his whereabouts. His name is Pa Davis, an old man, kind, and generous. He was the one that accommodated me the day I ran to this City and had also fed me with the little penny they pay him at his place of work where he walks as a gatekeeper. It was just a temporary home for me because most times I sleep wherever I found myself, especially at pubs just as I slept overnight in this strange car.

Pa Davis's single apartment was not far from here. I was just some minutes from his house. I stepped out of the car and staggered to his house. I turned the doorknob and entered. It was dark. I was sure Pa Davis didn't sleep at home yesterday probably because he had a night shift. I aimed for the window's lock box and punched it, causing it to open inward, causing the morning rays to pour into my blurry eyes. I quickly helped my eyelids with my four fingers placed over them so that they could just adjust to the bright daylight. Soon as my eyes were adjusted, my focus landed on my to-do list which was hung directly to the nightstand drawer in front of me.

Oh! My interview at the General clinic. Oh, my goodness. Since I came here, I had been looking for a place to work with my degree and secure my life and I didn't see not until I stumbled upon this hospital on my Instagram handle.

I could recall the attachment in the email sent to me after I applied for the position in the clinic and one of the prerequisites was punctuality and commitment which means one could be denied of the position irrespective of his /her qualifications if he/she fails in this aspect. Punctuality in the human world was more valued unlike in my pack where rules could be broken at any fucking time. We call humans weak vessels because we judge them by their strength and emotions not knowing we could just be the hell weak vessel for not meeting up to a simple task like time just like them.

Did I tell you that I had a degree and master's in medicine and surgery? Oh sorry if I had not talked about it but it is necessary, I think. I graduated from Harvard University of the Werewolves with flying colors, emerging as the best student in my department and the overall best-graduating student in the university. I was offered a free trip to the foreign packs to start work immediately and earn good money but I was so foolish enough to be blinded by love. I forfeit the opportunity just to be with Adam, knowing fully well that the opportunity could just be a separation from our friendship but at last, what became of me? I was betrayed by him. I don't like talking about this. I am just trying to let you know that I had the best qualifications among those who were competing with me for the position plus the fact that I was a werewolf. Though I was planning to make my identity hidden but still it would be an added advantage for me if I was chosen.

I slid my legs into my slippers and aimed for my toothbrush with one hand, pulling off the required documents needed at the clinic with the other from my shelf to my bed. I rushed to the bathroom and took a quick shower which made me regain a bit of my strength. I applied lotion on my skin and quickly launched into my email box to check the dress code once again. I dropped them on my bed and started pulling them out of my shelf as I read them out from my phone which was now on my bed. The only thing I didn't have was the trimmed glasses they added for professionals. Though it was optional but I wished I had I could have loved to flaunt it. In my pack we don't use glasses, our supernatural sight was enough to see beyond what the glasses could see itself. I guessed the trimmed glasses were added to help them in their vision as humans.

I wore my wine suit, leaving the first two buttons undone. My hair was combed evenly and let down over my shoulders. I opted for flat hills after I found it hard to take my steps with my platinum-high heels. My handbag was a match to my shoes and the color of my hair ribbon. I stared at my reflection in my mirror and quickly picked up my documents from the bed and parted my room.

As soon as I got to the roadside, a chauffeur who had most of his front teeth gone pulled to rest in front of me and asked. " Where are you going, beautiful mama?"

I smiled at his accent and responded, " I am heading to the general clinic but I need to be fast because I am almost running late".

" Cool, then bounce in and let me take you there" he added.

I entered his car and he drove me up the road to the location as specified. I bounced out of the car and handed him dollar bills which he smelled and said, "A nice smell of money from a damsel". I smiled back at him and quickly turn to leave. One thing I love about humans was the way they learn how to appreciate each other which was never done in my pack.

I walked into the big hospital where some remote buildings were built. This must be among the best and the most beautiful hospital in this City because everything about this place was lit.

As soon as I opened the door, I saw a tall, dark, and handsome man with pairs of Icy-blue eyes coming out of an elevator with a fair nurse in whose hand was a handbag. His gaze was fixed on mine as he caught me from the top. He is good looking and his smile is not bad either.

Suddenly, giddiness took over me and my eyes began to stumble upon everything in the room as if the world was rotating, leaving gravity to work against me. I began to see things double-double and as magnified as three times their original shape. I lost balance and could feel my strength wrenching out of me until I fell on the floor and lost consciousness.
