7- Gardenias in her eyes
Hello? I say sweetly answering Jess's call.
"I have news for you, my dad went out with the new woman he is seeing. And he lied to me, he denied that he saw her," Jess says.
I let out a light laugh, Jessica is incredibly clever.
"How do you know he saw her?" I ask in an alert voice, cautious that Jessica might suspect something.
"Because I know him, I know he lied to me," Jessica explains.
"And I think he will see her again."
"Again?" I say with an alarming voice. I stop applying the facial cream I was using to moisturize my face and walk towards the window in my room, listening to Jessica's voice.
"I can't believe it," I say, letting out a groan.
"Me neither, he's not satisfied with just having lunch with her, he will see her again," Jess says.
"Jess, I have to hang up," I tell her.
"Remember the chocolate cake," she says.
"Yes, I have to go to the kitchen to check the oven," I explain and hang up the call.
In the kitchen, my mother is checking the oven and taking out the freshly baked chocolate marquise.
"It looks delicious," I tell my mom.
"I'm sorry I arrived late to cook it together," I apologize.
"Don't worry, honey, the truth is I enjoyed cooking it a lot. You can decorate it if you want, there are fresh strawberries and whipped cream in the fridge," my mother says.
"Great," I smile.
She looks happy. Something inside me feels guilty, I know she's happy because she thinks James loves her. But he loves me. I wish I could tell her this once and for all and end this charade, but James promised to do it, he will probably tell her today. I need to take a deep breath, I shouldn't get upset or argue with my mother.
"I'll take a slice to give to a friend. You can have some for Jessica too, sweetheart," my mom says.
"Great. And are you meeting your friend this afternoon?" I ask, feeling the anxiety climb up my throat.
"Yes, sweetheart, I'm going to get dressed."
"Great," I murmur sadly as I watch my mom take the cake out of the oven, happy, dancing, she almost looks 10 years younger. She takes two pieces of cake, you can still see the melted chocolate, and puts them in two containers to take them with her.
I see my mother getting ready for her date with James, who is also my boyfriend, and I can't help but feel uncomfortable, jealous. She looks beautiful and radiant, even so young that she could be my older sister. My mother, Alissa, is wearing a tight green dress that hugs her body, her hips and long legs stand out in the dress. I can't help but wonder if James is really attracted to my mother, even more than to me.
I lie on my mother's bed and watch her deeply, my blue eyes reflecting back at me in the vanity mirror as my mother applies makeup. Her blue eyes, just like mine, are lined with eyeliner.
"You look very pretty," I murmur to my mother.
"Thank you, honey. Can you help me zip up my dress, please?" she asks. I get up from the bed and with trembling hands, I zip up my mother's dress from her waist to her bust.
"And what are your plans for tonight?" I want to know.
"We're just going out, I wanted to watch a movie but he changed his mind. He said he would take me out to dinner."
"To dinner?" I inquire nervously.
"Yes, I suspect he wants to talk to me about something important. Maybe he wants to formalize the relationship," my mother says, and at that moment I feel a strong pressure in my stomach.
"Mother, don't you think you're moving too fast with him?"
"Sweetheart, when you become a woman, you'll understand. It's not about making the man wait, but about making him see that you're the best option for him, and that undoubtedly, if he has you, he can lose you at any moment," my mother assures. She puts one leg up on the chair in front of her mirror and caresses her slender leg while applying body lotion.
"Did you shave your legs?"
"Is he planning to caress your legs?" I say. My mother smiles mischievously.
"My love, of course I have to shave, I've also waxed the intimate area, and I use a whitening cream and another to take care of my pH, intimate hygiene is very important."
"Mother, what are you saying, I thought you were going to eat," I say, my eyes burning with jealousy.
"But probably afterwards, he'll take me to his house," she says and winks at me. "I think he wants to introduce me to his daughter. And I'll be ready for action," she adds, smiling splendidly.
"Maybe he won't come to sleep tonight," my mother concludes as she puts on her 10cm heels. My heart races at these last words. I can't believe that James is going to cheat on me with my mother, the same afternoon we kissed in his office and he promised me that he would break up with her.
My mother picks up her black Chanel bag, matching her heels. I can't deny how beautiful and sensual my mother is, and I feel like I could never compete with her beauty. My mother is right, she is a mature woman, she knows how to seduce James, I'm just a girl, a virgin and inexperienced.
"Goodbye, honey," my mother says before walking out the door. "Don't wait up for me," she adds.
At that moment, I can't bear the jealousy growing inside me. I pick up my phone and call Jessica. I just can´t deny how happy my mother looks because She is dating James, She looks shinning with gardenias in her eyes, gardenias in her eyes and tears of mine
"Hello?"
"Hello Jess, can you come over please? I need to talk to you"
