CHAPTER 3

MARISSA'S POV

Soon enough, the atmosphere within the room began to shift as guests started to arrive.

A group of male werewolves from the esteemed Silvermoon pack entered their presence commanding attention. With a confident stride, they surveyed the room, their keen eyes searching for potential mates.

The air seemed to crackle with anticipation, their strong physiques and sharp features made them stand out among the crowd, drawing both admiration and curiosity from those around them.

Whispers rippled through the room and eyes followed their every move, with both male and female werewolves captivated by the allure of the prestigious pack.

Conversations momentarily ceased, replaced by hushed murmurs and intrigued glances.

The entrance of the Silvermoon pack undoubtedly added an extra layer of excitement to the event, heightening the stakes for everyone involved.

Minutes later, The sound of roaring engines filled the air.

A line of sleek, powerful cars rolled into view. The engines purred like predators, announcing their arrival with confidence.

A black luxury sedan led the procession commanding attention. As the car came to a halt, A handsome-looking man stepped out, exuding an air of authority and power.

His pack members, following suit in their impressive vehicles, parked nearby.

The doors of the cars opened in synchrony, and the pack members emerged, their presence demanding respect.

They stood tall, their posture reflecting their unwavering loyalty to one another.

Alpha Andrew, flanked by his pack members, approached the handsome man, their eyes meeting in a silent acknowledgment of the momentous occasion.

"Welcome to the Lunar pack, Alpha Derrick," Andrew welcomed with respect.

"Thank you, Alpha Andrew, I see that you understand the importance of making a statement. Your pack is fortunate to have such a leader." Alpha Derrick commented with a smile of respect.

Andrew inclined his head, a sign of respect mingled with an underlying determination.

"Thank you, Alpha Derrick. We recognize the significance of this day and the responsibility it entails." Alpha Andrew replied politely.

The pack members from both sides exchanged wary glances, their instincts on high alert, aware of the potential tension that could arise.

The air crackled with anticipation, a mixture of respect and a lingering undercurrent of rivalry.

The murmurs of the gathering crowd filled the air, whispers carrying the weight of speculation and excitement.

The arrival of Alpha Derrick and his pack members only intensified the buzz, as female werewolves strained to catch a glimpse of the revered Alphas and their entourage.

Alpha Derrick and Andrew exchanged a final glance.

Alpha Derrick and his pack members entered the exquisitely decorated building, taking in the grandeur of the hall. The ambiance was alive with the scent of anticipation, the air buzzing with excitement.

A passing waiter offered a tray of drinks, and he grabbed one, downing it in a single gulp.

Female werewolves cast admiring glances his way, but he paid them little attention. Despite being only 24, rumors had it that he was yet to find his mate, the one destined to be his Luna and complete his pack.

Meanwhile, I was watching in awe as I trudge wearily into the pack house, my steps heavy and my spirit low, I kept my head down, avoiding the judgmental gazes of the pack members.

They had made it abundantly clear that a wolfless she-wolf held no place of value within their pack.

With a heavy heart, I tried to blend into the shadows, desperately hoping to escape any piercing stares.

Lost in my thoughts, I didn't notice the presence in front of me until I collided with a solid, unyielding frame. It felt as if I had run into a wall, the impact jolting through my body.

He looked lost but abruptly jolted back to reality when I collided with his solid frame.

He was ready to growl in irritation when our eyes locked. He had the most captivating blue eyes I had ever seen, and I felt an electric current surge through my body.

"Mate," I heard him whisper the excitement evident in his voice but I didn't take him seriously. I doubt he meant me.

I could see his heart raced, his gaze locked with mine. In that instant, I knew I was in serious trouble.

"Ouch!" I yelped at the sudden pain, stumbling back as I instinctively rubbed my forehead, where the impact had left a stinging sensation.

Blinking, I tried to walk away quickly but was blocked by his towering figure. He suddenly materialized before me, blocking her path.

Startled, my eyes widened as it met the intense gaze of the man before me.

I tried to recall where I had seen him and it down to me that he was Alpha Derrick, the formidable leader of the neighboring Crescent Moon Pack.

His piercing ocean-blue eyes seemed to hold a hint of intrigue as he studied my face, a flicker of curiosity shining through his stern expression.

"My apologies, I didn't notice you there," I quickly apologized, avoiding his eyes.

My voice laced with a touch of embarrassment, I glanced around, hoping that my collision hadn't attracted too much attention from the surrounding onlookers.

His eyes were observing my actions like he was sensing my uneasiness.

He cleared his throat, making me look up abruptly. His voice carried a commanding presence, yet there was a genuine concern underlying.

A warm smile graced his lips, making me a bit calm.

"No offense taken," He replied, his tone reassuring. "But it seems like you're trying to evade someone, my lady. Do you require my assistance?"

"I... um, well, I wouldn't want to inconvenience you, It's just a personal matter," I replied politely, my voice tinged with hesitation.

His smile widened, amusement dancing in his eyes as he shook his head gently.

"Inconvenience is not a concern. As an Alpha, I must ensure the well-being of anybody, regardless of pack boundaries. Please, allow me to assist you," He insisted, his tone conveying sincerity and a genuine desire to help.

My eyes widened in surprise at his offer of help. I was taken aback by his kindness, and a wave of apprehension washed over me.

I quickly realized that he likely hadn't heard about my tragic story, about me being wolfless and the outcast of this pack.

Snapping out of my world, I was about to apologize again and decline his help when I was abruptly interrupted.

Someone forcefully yanked my arm, tearing me away from Alpha Derrick's presence.

"I can't believe this," Alpha Mason, my father, spat out, his grip tight and unyielding.

I winced, pain searing through my arm as I struggled to break free, my pleas falling on deaf ears.

"Father, you're hurting me!" I cried out, my voice laced with both physical and emotional agony.

But his rage outweighed any concern for my well-being, his strength overpowering mine.

His eyes burned with fury as he glared at me, his words biting and filled with disdain.

"Don't you dare call me father! What are you doing here?" he bellowed through clenched teeth, his anger seeping into every syllable.

I trembled, my heart breaking at the rejection and animosity in his voice.

Before I could respond, my hoodie tore off, leaving me exposed to the gasps and whispers of those around us.

My eyes filled with tears as humiliation washed over me. I lowered my gaze, deliberately avoiding my father's piercing stare.

"Everyone was invited," I whispered, my voice barely audible, a desperate attempt to defend myself. "I thought... I thought maybe things could be different, just for one night."

His voice dripped with contempt as he corrected me, his words like daggers to my already wounded heart.

"Every werewolf was invited," he sneered, emphasizing the distinction. "But you don't have a wolf, do you? You're nothing but a disgrace to our pack."

My breath caught in my throat, the weight of his words crushing my spirit.

The whispers and snickers from the onlookers only intensified my sense of vulnerability, magnifying my feelings of isolation.

Without another word, he forcefully dragged me towards the exit, his grip unyielding.

The tears I was holding back streamed down my face, a mixture of pain, sorrow, and a lingering flicker of hope that I had cruelly extinguished.

"Don't you dare come back here!" he warned, his voice dripping with venom.

His words echoed in my ears as I was forcefully yanked by him, leaving me broken and shattered in its wake.

Tears spilled like water from my eyes, blurring my vision. I stood up from the floor and began to trudge away from the pack house.

Each step felt heavy, my heart burdened by an overwhelming sense of sorrow and the crushing weight of rejection.

My footsteps echoed in the empty night, a haunting reminder of my solitude.

The moon above seemed to mirror my anguish, casting a pale glow upon my tear-streaked face. I fought to keep her emotions in check, but the pain was too raw, too consuming.

Memories of the harsh words and disdainful glares were haunting me, replaying like a cruel loop in my mind.

I couldn't shake off the feeling of being an outcast, an unwanted presence in a world that prized the possession of a wolf above all else.

As the night breeze whispered through the trees, I clutched my arms tightly around myself, seeking solace in the cool embrace of the night.

I longed for a sense of belonging, for acceptance, and for the warmth of a loving pack that would see my worth beyond the absence of a wolf.

But at that moment, they were nothing I could do. My heart was shattered, my spirit fractured.

The rejection I had faced from my own father and pack members pierced deep into my soul, leaving me feeling lost and abandoned.
