Chapter 5: Hate
Our class ended that day, and my eyes immediately started looking for Kyle. My brow furrowed, and my left eyebrow raised.
Had he gone ahead to the parking lot?
He never knows how to wait, always leaving first.
I hurriedly went to the parking lot and waited there. Nearly ten minutes had passed, and I was growing impatient. I decided to look for him inside the university, tired of standing and growing restless. I searched for him in every corner of the College of Law, the College of Architecture, and others until I ended up in the College of Engineering.
The engineering students were watching me, confusion written all over their faces. Some even greeted me, so I just smiled back.
I kept looking for him until I decided not to venture further because I was tired of going in circles, searching for that man. I looked back and my eyes caught a guy smoking while engrossed in his cellphone. My eyebrow raised. Smoking is forbidden, especially inside the university. I decided to ignore him, knowing that I shouldn’t meddle in his business. We didn’t even know each other, so I let it be.
I returned to the parking lot of the College of Law, where I finally saw Kyle, smiling while holding his cellphone. An anger brewed inside me, which I quickly suppressed to avoid causing a scene and tarnishing my reputation. I was well-known in the university, and many would love to see me fall, so I couldn’t afford any scandal.
There he was, smiling at his cellphone screen, while I had been frantically searching for him.
I tilted my head. My face was stern. If I find out you’re playing me, Kyle, you won’t like my retaliation. Just don’t let me catch you.
I won’t allow a man like you to treat me like trash and deceive me. If my suspicions are correct, I won’t forgive them.
I can forget all the memories we shared once I find out he cheated. I wasn’t born to be a martyr for someone like him and put up with his nonsense.
I changed my facial expression. From anger, I made it my facial expression softer, even though I felt like confronting him because I was exhausted from searching for him.
“Kyle,” I called him sweetly. Of course ,with my fake sweet tone. I watched as he almost dropped his phone.
I still followed his movements as he quickly put his phone in his pocket. I smirked in my mind. You have the guts to fool me? Try harder, Kyle, try harder.
I am not born to be fooled by anyone. No one can bring me down.
I hope my suspicions are wrong because they both will pay for their deception.
I turned my gaze back to him, noticing the fear etched on his face, which he was trying hard not to show me. But I had seen it, I could tell he was hiding something.
“Yvonne, you’re here already,” he said, stating the obvious. I rolled my eyes. He laughed nervously.
“Where did you go? I was waiting for you for almost an hour,” he added, which made me raise my eyebrow.
I smiled sweetly at him. “Really?” He quickly nodded.
And I was fucking looking for you for almost two hours!
My smile vanished as he blatantly lied to me. I could clearly see the nervousness in his eyes, and he was desperately trying to hide it. But, due to my strong intuition, he could never escape from such actions.
“You’re lying,” I said emotionlessly.
He swallowed hard and immediately shook his head, trying to make his lies appear as the truth, even though I had already caught him in the act.
In the two years that we’ve been in a relationship, there’s never been an issue until now. Or were there things happening behind my back for those years that I didn’t know about?
“I just went to the restroom and came right back,” he explained, still trying hard to convince me that he was telling the truth, making me the one who looked so bothered and doubting his loyalty.
This freaking liar!
Yes, right now, I am doubting his loyalty and faithfulness to me. No loyal and faithful boyfriend would outright deny lying when we both know he is not telling the truth.
I calmed myself. I could feel my hands shaking, itching to slap the face of the man in front of me. My head was heating up with anger, and I was sure my face was turning red with the emotion I was trying to suppress to avoid exploding.
“Really?” I gasped incredulously. “The restroom is close by and you said you would be quick, right?”
“Yes, I was really quick! I came out immediately but I didn’t see you here in the park—”
My hand flew up quickly and landed firmly on his left cheek. I couldn’t hold back. It immediately turned red and I felt my hand go numb. I hate when people insist they’re telling the truth even when they’ve been caught lying.
I calmed myself again, though my hand was itching to slap his right cheek as well.
“Oh really? So what, you became invisible and I became invisible to you?”
There were law students glancing our way but none of them dared to interfere, which was just as well, as they might get caught up in my impending explosion of anger.
“I waited almost twenty minutes here in the parking lot and I couldn’t see you, so I looked for you for over two hours. I told you before you became my boyfriend, do not cheat on me and never lie to me and you promised, right? You already forget?”
I tilted my head when he didn’t answer me. I smiled dangerously. Don’t let me catch you in the act, Kyle. The only child of Yna Beatrice dela Vega and Antonio Vallen Herrer doesn’t take kindly to being lied to, I’m telling you.
You must have already know it because of my bloodline. We hate it. We hate being fooled and betrayed. So you better think carefully, than doing stupid things.
