I can't fire her

“You don’t know about the way the company runs. If something goes wrong because I changed my secretary unexpectedly then will you take responsibility for it?” Jude snapped at her.

“Why do you keep shouting? That won’t solve the issue at hand.” Liya said to him.

“I keep shouting because that’s the only thing that you listen to. Why would you even suggest such a thing?”

“That’s because I don’t want to be suspicious of you both,” Liya replied and Jude froze.

“What do you mean?”

“Why else will you run after your secretary while leaving your wife behind with your mum and saying that your wife is lying?” Liya asked.

“You keep jumping to conclusions.” He laughed slightly. “It’s just that Maya has been working for so many years now and I know what she is capable of doing and what she can’t do that’s why I ran after her to hear her side of the story. What are you thinking of now?”

“Okay, then. If you say so.” She dismissed the subject.

Jude's phone rang in his pocket and he bit his lips when he saw who was calling. His mother must be so furious at him. He knew that already.

“Hello, Mum. Yes, she is here. She said that already. I know that. She has a phone. Alright.” He said then cut the call.

“Was that mum?” Liya asked and Jude nodded.

“Yes, and she wanted to speak to you.” He replied.

“You should have given me your phone then.”

“I told her to call you. After all don’t you have a phone? Must I share everything with you?” He said and she felt like he had another meaning to what he said last.

Her phone rang just in time and she picked it up. “Did you see Jude and Maya together when you went there?” Madelyn asked through the call and Liya looked at Jude who was already staring at her.

She left the room and stood outside of the door. “Yes, I did see them together inside a room.” She replied.

“That girl. You can't be so soft Liya. You have to put her in her place so that she knows that you are the wife and she is just a secretary.” Madelyn told her harshly and she nodded.

“I understand mother. We will be leaving the hotel soon so you can ask the driver to take you home. It's already getting late.” she told Madelyn.

“Make sure he comes with you. Don't leave him behind and I will deal with Maya. Don't worry about that.” Madelyn replied then cut the call.

“Did you have so much to gossip about that led you to take the call outside the room?” Jude said behind Liya and she jumped.

“Oh Gosh! You scared me!” she shouted and put her hand on her chest.

“Can’t I talk to her the way that I want to? Didn't you talk to Maya in this enclosed space so why can't I do the same outside with your mum?” she asked Jude.

“I'm finally seeing your feisty side. I just have to show it to Mother then she will know that the person that she always defends is not as sweet as she thinks she is.” Jude said.

“You are just angry that you can't walk over me that's why. Have you gotten all your things from the room? If you have, let's go home.”

Jude walked down the hallway first and Liya walked behind him.

She sighed occasionally while reminiscing the events that took place in two days.

She continued walking until she hit her head on a hard surface and she groaned in pain.

“Oww!”

“Can't you watch where you are going?!” Jude snapped and she moved back instantly.

“Sorry. I didn't even notice.”

“What are you thinking about so intensely that you don't even know where you are walking to?” Jude asked her.

“I don't think that we are close enough to talk about what we think or think about each other,” she replied and Jude nodded.

“That is very true. I don't even know why I said that.” Jude said and continued walking away.

He was always talking to her like hot water and then cold water. He will act caring this second then the next second he is snapping at her. She was already growing tired of it.

She picked up her phone and called the driver. “Are you outside? Jude and I are almost there so Park in front of the building,” she told him.

“Can you walk faster than that? I won't wait for you when I get into the car .” Jude shouted and she ran towards him.

“I am coming!”

They got to the receptionist and he dropped the room key with the hotel staff.

They got outside and the car was already there so they got it. “Good day Sir.” the driver said to him and he nodded.

“I need to get home fast. Today has been so exhausting for me,” he muttered and rested his head on the backrest of the chair.

“What do you want for dinner?” she asked him and he looked at her.

“You don't have to worry about that. I will just ask one of the chefs to cook for me.”

She nodded and looked outside of the car window. He was being cautious of her.

“Does he think that I will poison him?” she thought then laughed inwardly. “Maya must have told him to be careful around me.” she continued.

“What an interesting lady. She had Jude wrapped around her fingers and mother also knows it that's why she doesn't like her.” Liya smiled bitterly and the car drove into the driveway of her and Jude’s house.

Jude was already out of the car and he stormed inside before she could get out of the car. Does he think that would make him less angry?

“Thank you,” she said to the driver and the man smiled at her.
