Chapter 4

Tragedy's POV

As the van came to a halt, the engine's rumbling ceased, and the deafening silence settled in.

I braced myself, my trembling body frozen in anticipation of what awaited me beyond those doors... this could be it for me.

Once and for all.

The van's doors swung open, revealing a sliver of blinding daylight that pierced through the darkness.

Two burly men grabbed a hold of my arms, their grip unyielding as they yanked me out of the vehicle. The harsh sunlight assaulted my eyes, causing me to squint and shield my face with my hands.

My heart hammered in my chest as I glanced around, taking in my unfamiliar surroundings.

I found myself standing in the center of a desolate courtyard, enclosed by towering stone walls. The scent of damp earth and freshly cut grass filled the air, mixing with a tinge of something primal, something distinctly wolf...

A figure emerged from the shadows, his presence commanding and formidable...

He walked towards me with purpose, each step echoing with power and authority. He was tall, much larger than I am, as his long legs strode across the stone with ease.

My breath hitched as my eyes locked onto him properly for the first time, taking in his imposing presence.

He had dark, unruly hair that tumbled over his forehead, framing his strong and angular features. His physique exuded strength and dominance, his muscular frame rippling beneath a black shirt that stretched tightly across his broad chest. Intricate tattoos adorned and covered his arms, neck and hands - pretty much every part of flesh I could see other than the man's face.

But it was his eyes that sent a frightful shiver down my spine...

Harsh and piercing, they glowed with an intense shade of green, mirroring the ferocity of a predator ready to strike. They seeped into me, assessing and sizing me up with an intensity that made me feel small and insignificant to him.

I couldn't tear my gaze away from him, despite knowing that I should never meet a males gaze, but the sight of this man was simply captivating.

His presence radiated sheer power and authority - trapping me in.

This was a man who commanded respect and instilled fear in those who stood before him. I knew that crossing his path meant crossing into dangerous territory... and so I cursed myself again for getting into this mess in the first place!

He approached me with deliberate steps, his expression unreadable. The air crackled with tension as he stopped only a few feet away, his gaze drilling into me.

A gust of wind swept through the courtyard, rustling my tattered clothes and ruffling his dark hair ever so slightly, but he remained unmoved, an immovable force to be reckoned with.

This Alpha was far different to my pudgy old Alpha back home... even far different to his son too... this Alpha was hugely built and terrifying!

"What have we here?" His voice was low and gravelly, sending a shiver down my spine as it matched his demeanour almost perfectly.

The way he enunciated each word, dripping with authority, made it clear that he expected an answer.

I stammered, my voice barely above a whisper. "I... I'm Tragedy, sir. I... I didn't mean to trespass. I was hiding... I didn't have anywhere else to go." I attempt to reason...

"Your real name is Tragedy?" He squints, staring deep into my eyes as I meekly nod at the question - embarrassed again by the terrible name.

He narrowed his eyes, the intensity of his gaze never wavering. "And what were you hiding from, Tragedy? Are you a spy sent to infiltrate my pack?" His words hung in the air, loaded with suspicion and accusation.

The mere thought of being labeled a spy sent a fresh wave of terror coursing through me. I shook my head frantically this time, my voice trembling as I desperately tried to prove my innocence. "N-No, I swear! I'm not a spy. I'm just... a lost wolf, seeking refuge." I admit my case.

He regarded me silently for a moment, his penetrating gaze unyielding. The weight of his scrutiny pressed down on me, making it hard to breathe. I felt as though he could see through every fiber of my being, uncovering the truth I fought to convey.

Finally, a cold smile crept across his face, devoid of warmth or mercy. "We shall see," he said, his voice laced with a sinister edge. "For now, you will be placed in the cells for further observation. If you're telling me the truth, then you have nothing to worry about."

My heart sank as he uttered those words, confirming my worst fears.

The cells - a place where rogues and criminals were confined. The thought of being locked away in a cold, damp cell amongst the wicked sent a chill down my spine.

But there was no room for protest or negotiation here.

I have no choice but to comply if I want to make it out of this alive...

The Alpha's henchmen, still gripping my arms firmly, led me through the courtyard and into a formidable stone structure that loomed before us. The heavy doors creaked open, revealing a dimly lit corridor lined with rows of iron-barred cells.

As we made our way deeper into the building, the scent of dampness and decay grew stronger. The air was thick with an oppressive atmosphere, making it difficult to catch a breath. It felt as if the very walls were closing in on me, suffocating me with their weight.

The henchmen stopped in front of a cell near the end of the corridor. The door screeched open, and I was shoved inside, stumbling forward and landing on the cold, unforgiving floor. The door slammed shut with a resounding thud, sealing me in darkness.

The cell was small and cramped, barely enough space to stretch out my aching limbs. The walls were rough, covered in layers of grime and dampness. A single flickering light bulb illuminated the cell, casting eerie shadows that danced around me. The air was stale, carrying the faint scent of previous occupants who had undoubtedly suffered within these walls...

I curled up in a corner, wrapping my arms around myself for comfort.

The reality of my situation settled heavily upon me, causing a mix of fear, anger, and despair to churn within. I was trapped, a prisoner in a place where my fate lay in the hands of a merciless Alpha who saw me as nothing more than a potential threat to his people.

All thanks to my fate landing me in the hands of my unforgiving mate... if it weren't for his rejection and banishment... I wouldn't even be in this cell!

As I sat here, my mind raced with questions and uncertainties. How did I end up in this predicament? Could I convince the Alpha of my innocence? Was there any hope of escaping this fate?

Time will only tell...

Hours stretched into what felt like an agonizing eternity, the monotony broken only by the occasional sound of footsteps echoing in the corridor outside.

Each passing minute felt like a lifetime, and the silence was deafeningly horrendous.

Finally, after what felt like days, the sound of footsteps approaching my cell caused me to perk up ever so slightly.

The heavy footsteps echoed through the corridor, growing louder with each passing moment.

Dread suddenly consumed me as the Alpha himself came into view, flanked by his trusted henchmen.

He stood before my cell, his presence commanding and formidable as I gazed up at him...

The flickering light cast sinister shadows across his face, accentuating his strong jawline and piercing green eyes.

There was no mistaking the power he held, the aura of dominance that radiated from him.

"Let's have our chat then, shall we?" The Alpha begins.

I remain in the corner, scared and defenceless, awaiting my fate that lay ahead...
