Chapter 1-2

"I don't know what madhouse you escaped from, but I don't know you. So go away.“, she demanded. Kyla tried to calm her heart, which was beginning to dance a wild rhythm. Was she afraid? No, that was impossible. She hadn't been afraid in years. He ignored her objection and his voice reached every fiber of her body:

"Come with me."

Kyla took a determined step back. "Forget it. I'm not going with any lunatics.”

His eyes sparkle with amusement. "You've always been like that. You never let anyone tell you anything, that hasn't changed in all this long time."

"I do not know what you're talking about. Pull the leash, or you can experience something.”

He understood the threat behind her words and raised his eyebrows in confusion. "Why do you want to stay here? You don't belong here, you know that."

"I know that if you don't leave right now, you can pick up your damn bones one by one."

He regarded her for a moment. "You smell like a human!" he stated in disgust.

"It's like that when you're human. You smell the same.“, she replied calmly. Her heart seemed to have calmed down.

"Don't insult me!" he hissed before he stood in front of her again, his hand on her throat and he squeezed lightly. Kyla cried out briefly in surprise. She hadn't seen him move and yet he was now standing in front of her and even touching her. Her hands encircled his wrist and she felt the unbridled strength of which he was powerful.

"Let me...go...bastard!" she gasped out. He released her immediately, but stayed close to her. His gaze was still on her.

"Kyla!" Liara cried out in fear for her friend. She had no idea who the guy was or what he was saying to her, but he wasn't human, of that she was sure. Kyla turned and looked up at Liara.

"Go away! Close the window!” But Liara couldn't move. Paralyzed by the fear that filled her.

"Don't turn your back on me!" His voice was a growl. Kyla slowly turned to him, a slight smile curling her lips.

"And if so?"

"Then you'll regret it!"

Kyla laughed. "Anyone can threaten, but if you do, then do it."

Kyla didn't know where she got this certainty that he wouldn't harm her. She just felt it was so. His gaze wandered from her to the person up there at the window.

"Raia!" His voice was controlled, yet Kyla could feel the strength resting within her.

"Who?" she asked, slightly irritated.

"You are Raia," he explained with difficulty. He hadn't expected that she wouldn't remember. Now Kyla turned to face him properly.

"Listen. I'm not Raia, I'm Kyla. But I don't see how that's any of your business. Well then, have a nice evening.” Kyla turned away from him, but that was all she got. Suddenly he reappeared in front of her, his eyes glowing red and with a quick movement of his hand he stopped her from going any further. He didn't touch her, didn't hold her, and yet, Kyla couldn't move any more than when her body was shackled.

"To explain it to you, you have no business being here. You're not human.” His voice sounded menacing.

"Of course I'm human you bastard. What else am I supposed to be? Have you ever looked in the mirror? I don't know how you did it, but I'm sure there's a very logical explanation for that. Now go away!” Kyla felt a rage that surprised even her.

A smile curled his lips. He knew now what he had to do.

"It's your choice, either you come willingly or I will force you." His gaze shifted to Liara and Kyla understood instantly. She tried with all her strength to free herself from this rigidity, but when she realized that she would not succeed, she yelled to her friend:

"Damned! Liara! Shut the damn window and get out! Now!” But it was too late. Before Liara could have reacted, he suddenly appeared right in front of her. She looked startled at the figure in front of her and her eyes widened. His hand reached out and gripped her throat hard.

"Disgusting human."

"Let her go you goddamn asshole! I swear I'll kill you if anything happens to her!” Kyla yelled at him with all her might. She could feel the hate seething inside her, feeling it fill every fiber of her body and fill her with a power she never dared dream of. With difficulty she managed to take a step forward.

Liara looked at her friend in shock.

"Kyla!" she ground out tightly.

What happened? Why were Kyla's eyes glowing the same red as his? As if he could read Liara's thoughts, he answered her:

"She's not human, understand that!"

"Let...her...go!" Kyla managed to move better and better the more she hated him. Astonished, he looked down at her. That she was able to resist this spell was just a small example of her power. He knew that only too well.

Kyla's gaze seemed to pierce him and he knew he had only one chance to take her with him. A long sword appeared in his free hand and as soon as Kyla saw it, all color drained from her face. Her eyes returned to their natural color and she was immediately succumbed to the spell.

"No!" It was barely more than a whisper and yet he understood. He smiled victoriously.

"Either you come with me voluntarily, or the human will die." His grip on Liara's throat tightened and she began to gasp.

Kyla weighed her options for a moment. Seeing no other way out, she just nodded weakly. The sword in his hand disappeared and the ground opened up in front of Kyla in a circle. Surrounded at the edge by a red light, she looked up at both of them. "Jump in or the human will die." Kyla looked from him to Liara, tears showing on her face and streaming down the blonde's face. Despite her position, Liara tried to shake her head. Kyla had seen enough. She knew Liara would die if she didn't do what he wanted. She had no idea what to expect on the other end. Kyla closed her eyes for a moment, remembering Liara's smile, and jumped.

As soon as Liara saw Kyla jump, she felt the guy release her. He suddenly appeared at the edge of the circle of red light and without looking at Liara again he followed Kyla. Liara collapsed crying in front of the window.

"Crap! Crap! Shit!” Liara put her hands in front of her face and let her tears flow. It couldn't all be true, it was just a horrible nightmare. As if in a trance, she got up and sat on the edge of the bed. And what should she do if not? What if it wasn't a dream but horrible reality? What should she tell Kyla's parents? Your daughter wasn't human?

Liara shook her head. Of course, Kyla was human, just like everyone else, except for the guy. Tears were still running down her cheeks, but she became more determined with every second. She had to get Kyla out of there, no matter what the cost. Liara went to Kyla's closet. The first thing she had to do was get changed. What followed next, she didn't know yet, but there would be a way.

Kyla hit the ground hard. Everything swam before her eyes. She tried to take a deep breath. It smelled sweet and stank of death at the same time. Kyla tried to get off the ground, but it seemed like there was a heavy weight on her back. Again and again her arms gave way when trying to push herself up. Then she heard the voice and before her eyes the guy's robe appeared.

"Get up!" he ordered harshly.

Kyla tried, not as a sign of obedience, but because she wanted to. Her arms gave out again. Exhausted, she simply lay on the cold floor and closed her eyes. A moment of silence, just a little moment. Kyla felt someone pick her up and carry her somewhere. She tried to open her eyes again, but she couldn't. She lost consciousness.
