6: Most Amazing Night

Most Amazing Night

Patrick’s POV

Isla wanted to celebrate her birthday at her favorite restaurant. I couldn’t say no to that. I asked if it could just be the two of us and she agreed. We walked into the packed restaurant and decided to take a seat at the bar.

Oddly enough every year on Isla’s birthday we would run into the brunette. First the club, then the skating rink, then the zoo, and then the park where I saw the proposal. I only caught a glimpse on the 2nd and 3rd time of seeing her, but knew it was her. The 4th time the guy from the club was giving her a ring and she was hugging him. I assumed they had gotten engaged, but I was blocked by a crowd before I could figure it out. I had been walking towards her wanting to meet her for real. It obviously wasn’t meant to be.

But the sex dreams after each encounter continued to get progressively hotter and spicier. I wanted to find her and fix my ache. I just didn’t know how or where. I still hadn’t given into Isla. I had screwed around with her other friends. Including a drunken mistake with Rebecca and another one with Margo. It was at that point that I had to avoid Isla’s friends, except Nicki and Aly. The others seemed to get attached and wanted more than I could give. Or they would ghost me.

“Now that you’ve made your way through all of my friends. Are you going to play with me?” She pouted.

I shook my head. “We have a deal and you’ve not even tried.”

She smiled, “You’re serious? She’s always with that other guy. And he doesn’t look like the type to share.”

I laughed, “I think that you’re right about that. He seems like a monogamous relationship kind of guy, but it’s probably because he’s never tried.”

She giggled, “I would train him. Yum!”

I laughed at her again, “I’m sure you would.”

I suddenly felt the urge to look to my right and there she was. She had not noticed us, but it was her with a friend from the club and the rink. She suddenly looked over her shoulder at me. She had noticed. I smiled and she smiled back. Her friend grew curious and looked at us. I could see them whispering before they headed to the bathroom.

“Now what are the odds that I get my birthday wish this year?” Isla cooed as she saw them.

I smiled at her. “Get her over here and yes. With or without her, you’ll get your wish.”

“Really? You want to know her that badly that you’re willing to give in? Come on, I didn't think that you’d be that easy.” She toyed with me.

“I can’t explain it, but every time I see her, I have these intense sex dreams that get more intense with each time. I can’t turn them off. It’s why I’ve gone through your friends and others. They can’t satisfy the desire or relieve the ache.” I said, shaking my head.

“Awe did you get blue balls over her?” She giggled. After seeing my face, she turned more serious. “You don’t think she’s that fated sexmate thing that your grandmother went on about do you? Just how intense are these dreams of yours?”

“Like I’m living it. It’s so real.” I spoke.

“Does she have the rune?” She asked.

“I couldn’t see one. But I don’t know.” I looked at her concerned.

“Grams told us both that we were fated, but not to one another. That our runes would keep us connected always, but not as a couple. I didn’t fully believe her. It seemed silly at the time.” She shrugged.

“Now you think that there’s something to it?” I asked.

She nods and leans in whispering, “we both know that Colleen was not it. She was lovely, but not your sexmate. She didn’t understand your sexual side. Enjoyed it but was frightened at times of your power over her. That’s why she wanted me to join. To keep balance.” I nodded already knowing this. “It’s also why Nicki and Aly go together when hooking up with you. They love it, but you’re sometimes too much. It’s why most of my friends either ghosted you or wanted to marry you. Your sexual appetite is intoxicating. I think that’s why I’m so drawn to you.” She continued.

“Why didn’t they say anything? I can pull back.” I defended myself.

“Because it’s mind blowing.” She smirked. “Not that I would know outside of their stories. Which they happily share and gloat about.”

“You snoop!” I laughed at her. She pretended to be offended. Then someone touched her shoulder.

“I’m sorry to interrupt, but I feel like we’ve met before.” said the exotic bronze beauty with the brunette as she leaned close to Isla just barely touching her shoulder. The sexual tension was something to watch and was turning me on. I had to adjust myself.

Isla smiled brightly and flirtatiously said, “Oh, you're right! Your friend here almost dumped my drink.” She gestures towards the brunette as she speaks.

“Correct, instead she walked into your friend’s chest.” She said while grazing Isla’s hand.

I had never seen Isla so flustered before. It was quite adorable to be honest. She always used her magic and charm on people, and it was as if this woman had reversed the roles. Isla was not in control, but the bronze beauty was.

“Hi, I’m Zoe.” Zoe offered her hand to Isla.

“Nice to meet you, Zoe. I’m Isla.” Isla said while taking Zoe’s hand. Zoe’s smile deepened and the two were now engrossed in their own private conversation leaving me standing there with the gorgeous brunette. Looking down at her stormy eyes and perfect breasts.

I smiled and said, “Would you like to sit?”

She nodded relieved.

“Would you like a drink?” I asked and she nodded again. “I’m afraid that I’m not a mind reader. What would you like?”

She was adorably embarrassed and said, “I’m sorry, I just never do this kind of thing and I’m a bit nervous.” Her cheeks blushed making her more adorable.

“What kind of thing?” I asked, knowing the answer.

“Talk to strangers at restaurants or bars.” She said quickly while her cheeks reddened more. I was smitten and wanted to touch them. I was fighting the urge to kiss her. Now that I had her talking to me, I needed to slow down my desires and be smooth.

“Hello, I’m Patrick.” I said as I reached my hand out.

“I’m Amelia.” She replied. Her hand felt small and delicate in mine, but I didn’t want to let go and had to force myself.

“There we are now friends and not strangers.” I said before releasing her hand. Already missing its warmth.

I was surrounded by her sweet smell just soaking it up. She radiated despite her nerves. If I’m not careful I’m going to have to fix my pants again. All I could think about was taking her to the bathroom and enjoying every inch of her.

At that moment, I realized she was staring at my rune. “It’s a rune. It is called Algiz and it means protection or shield.”

“It also means elk. My grandmother told me stories of the runes and their meanings.” She said with fascination. “She used to call me her little Elk.”

“Mine did too.” I said proudly. “She also called me her little elk.” My grams would tell us the stories and meanings. She still does though her memories are fading. Every time I visit my grandmother she points to my rune and asks if I have found my matching one yet.

She was checking me out and looking over all of me. I even noticed that she glanced down but couldn’t see much due to the bar. It made me smile. When she met my gaze I asked, “Do you like what you see?”

Her blush was adorable. “I’m sorry.” She quickly averted her gaze.

“Don’t be. I like it.” I smirked devilishly. Which gained me another blush as she quickly looked away again. I would have continued teasing, but the bartender showed up for our orders at that moment.

“What can I get you?” the bartender asked.

“Chardonnay, please.” Answered Zoe

“Two White Russians,” I ordered for Isla and I.

“A hard apple cider, please,” Amelia asked.

“Interesting drink choice.” I hadn’t had one of those. Heard about it, but it seemed to be an American drink.

“It’s been the drink that I prefer at bars since I turned twenty-one.” She responded.

“I’ve never had one. What does it taste like?” I was intrigued.

“Apple beer is the best I can describe it.” Replied Zoe.

“Hmm, I take it you don’t like it?” I asked Zoe.

“Not at all. It’s just alcoholic apple juice.” She said with disdain.

Isla giggled, “I like it.”

Amelia smiled at her. “Would you like to try it?” She asked me.

“Yes, would you like to try mine?” I asked. Amelia nodded.

While we waited, we continued to talk. Zoe and Isla flirting shamelessly. The drinks arrived and we swapped so that we could each try the others.

“What do you think?” I asked.

“That’s delicious once you move past the burn. I love coffee so I don’t know why I didn’t try this.” She said clearly knowing what it was. “What do you think?”

“Fruity beer, but I like it. It reminds me of my grandmother’s cider she used to make during the holidays.” I said with a grin. She started to hand me the White Russian, but I shook my head. “That one is your drink now. I’m not giving this back.”

She giggled but nodded. She looked at Zoe. “We should go back to the table before Amber sends a search party.”

Zoe nodded. “Why don’t you two join us? We are celebrating Amelia’s birthday today.”

“Happy birthday, Amelia. It’s my birthday too!” Squealed Isla.

Amelia smiled and said, “now you must join. Happy Birthday, Isla!”
