The Letter

Giana had tears flowing from her eyes as she stood to hug Mama May. She nodded in agreement and promised to show her the dress as soon as it was done. Giana carried the boxes out to her Buick. She gathered herself together and decided to go to the deli to get something to eat. As Giana sat at the table outside the deli eating her sub and chips she heard a commotion a few doors down at a bridal gown store.

She did her best to ignore the commotion but once it gathered outside the store she couldn't help but look up. Standing there arguing was a group of four girls. She couldn't quite gather what was being said but she saw the store clerk come out fighting with the women over what looked like shoes and maybe a dress.

It wasn't long before Gianas' eyes widened and she realized two of those women were her sisters. Giana did everything in her power to gather her lunch and leave but to her disappointment the group ended up right in front of her. She tried to get around them without them noticing but they noticed her and they started yelling for her to come help them. Giana did not like conflict especially with people in town because she knew almost everyone. Giana shook her head no and went on her way. As she stood at her buick she tried to figure out who the other two women were but she was sure she'd never seen them before.

The women were both tall with beautifully glowing tan skin. As they argued she could hear that they had an accent but didn't know from where. They wore short skirts with delicate sheer tops and heels. Their hair was long and black. She assumed they were sisters but how much alike they looked. Suddenly a man broke up the fight and told the two women to get in their car while he entered the store to assess if there were any damages or payment needed.

Giana couldn't help but gaze at the mystery man as he walked into the store. He was dressed impeccably and had a very mysterious aura about him. As he came back out the store he looked over in Gianas direction and she blushed and got into her car quickly. Giana gathered her thoughts and decided to call her mom about what she had seen. Her mother was furious at her oldest daughters and said she would be there shortly.

When Roslynn arrived in town she parked in front of the bridal shop and spoke with the manager about her daughters. When she came out she saw Gianas Buick and walked over to her. Giana told her all about the fight she saw and then turned her mothers attention to the beautiful fabrics Mama May had given her. They were deep in conversation when Roslynn caught a glimpse of Allison from the corner of her eye.

“Hold it right there you two!” Roslynn spoke sternly without even turning towards them. Roslynn gave giana a kiss on the cheek and hugged her before turning to her other two daughters. Giana quickly got into her car and left.

Giana drove straight home and took her stuff into the house. She was putting the boxes away in her room when she noticed her mom had put her mail in her room. She grabbed the pile and looked through it. Her eyes laid on an envelope addressed to her and her heart began to ache. She could recognize the handwriting a million times over. The letter came from her fathers sister.

Giana never understood why her father had left her and her sisters. She understood things didn't work out with her mom and him but they were his daughters. After he left her aunt would write to them but once Giana turned 10 the letters stopped and she closed that chapter of her life. Why was she suddenly writing to her? Giana felt a wave of emotions build and tossed the envelope into her desk drawer. She felt a tear in her eye so she changed her clothes and headed out the back door to the stables. As she got Majestics sattle and got him ready Mike the caretaker for the horses appeared. She didn't want Mike to see her upset.

Mike was around for as long as she could remember. He taught her everything she needed to know about the horses and he was great with Majestic. Mike also kind of filled her fathers spot once he had left and never returned. In middle school she asked him to go to the father daughter events with her to which he always showed up.

“Hey GiGi what are you up to?” Mike put down the tools he had and headed over to help her.

“I'm gonna take Maj out for a bit.” Giana said while hiding her face from Mike.

Mike knew her and he walked around MAjestic and stood beside Giana.

“GiGi what's wrong? Do you want me to come with you like we used to do when you were little and we can talk about whatever is on your mind?” Giana looked up at Mike and shook her head yes while fighting back the tears.

Silently Mike nodded and quickly got Pegasus ready for a ride. Giana giggled a little because she knew why he picked Pegasus. Majestic loved being around her; they were like two peas in a pod and always playful. Giana waited at the barn entrance and within minutes Mike was beside her and off they headed out the barn and down the fields.

Back at the house Allison and Linda had finally made their way home and decided since their mom wasn't there they'd find out why Giana refused to help them. They both knew she wasn't one to get into peoples fights but they didn't care. Allison opened Gianas bedroom door and called for her. Since Giana isn't home there wasn't a reply back.

Allison and Linda entered the room and saw that Gianas phone was on her desk. Allison was still furious that their mom had yelled at them and she was sure it was Gianas fault. Allison grabbed Gianas phone. She began looking through her messages but those were boring so she decided to check out her social media. To her dismay Giana was logged out of her social media. Now Allison was even more irritated and looked at Linda with an evil grin.

Linda wasn't as mean as Allison and as Allison looked at her with that evil grin Linda felt a ping in her stomach. She followed Allison out of Gianas room and down to the kitchen. Allison walked over to the tool closet and grabbed a hammer and some water from the sink. Linda thought she heard the door and tried to stop Allison but it was too late. She hit the phone with the hammer shattering the screen and then sat it by the sink and poured the water all over it making sure it was submerged enough that the water would seep into the phone. Suddenly they both heard something and snuck upstairs and threw the stairs in the kitchen.
