Chapter 05: Lyall, the imposing Lycan king!

Meanwhile, Kailel arrives in Lupinia with a group of werewolves at his side, finding Petros, the alpha of the Lupine Lupine Clan of Aurora, chatting casually with Lyall and Ethan while enjoying a drink.

"Looks like the conversation is quite lively. Can I join you?" Kailel uses an arrogant tone.

"Of course!" Petros welcomes him warmly and proceeds with the proper introductions. "Kailel, this is the Lycan King, Lyall."

Lyall, in turn, raises his tall, strong, athletic frame, and his imposing presence causes the Silver Claws Alpha to lower his arrogance and pretentious pose.

"It is a pleasure to meet you in person, King Lyall. I've heard a lot about you."

"Interesting! I've also heard your name. Silver Claws pack, right? Our parents had an intense conflict due to the fact that their pack rebelled against the centuries-old leadership of the original Lycans, leadership that was granted to us by the gods themselves. In that conflict, our parents ended up killing each other, didn't they?" Lyall stares at Kailel, who tries to disguise his surprise at hearing such precise and intimidating words. He realizes the reason for the lycan king's visit to the Lupine Clan of Aurora, understanding that if he doesn't do something soon, he will lose what little he has gained with Ian's help, dominating smaller packs through force and manipulation.

"That's a thing of the past. We are the Alphas of our packs now and we have the power to change the past and improve the future. In fact, when I heard you were here visiting, I personally came to invite you for a meal on behalf of the Silver Claws Pack and the Uktena Pack."

For a moment, Lyall looks at Ethan, his newest advisor, and at Petros, who is visibly surprised by the invitation, especially on behalf of the Uktena Pack. Since when is Ian friendly enough to invite anyone to any kind of get-together, especially his main enemy? It was obvious it could be a trap, and Lyall knew it, but decided to play along.

."And why would I accept your invitation when your pack and the Uktena pack are declared enemies of mine?" Petros smiles at Lyall's response, who continues to stare at Kailel, waiting for an answer.

"As I said, we can leave these power struggles in the past and think about restoring the remaining packs and, as a consequence, the peace and harmony among all of us." Kailel tries to appear peaceful and coherent, leaving Petros dumbfounded, as he knows very well what that man, along with his ruthless and cruel best friend, is capable of. He remembers the day his pack was practically wiped out by them, the howl of pain he let out when he saw his wife and daughter being cold-bloodedly killed just to dominate a territory that wasn't even that relevant. He clenches his hands, trying not to show the anger he feels at that moment. However, Lyall notices Petros's discomfort.

"In any case, I appreciate the initiative. But I need to think about your invitation. Today, I came only to visit an old friend of my father's who has so far been neglected by me."

Upon hearing Lyall's words, the Alpha of the Lupine Clan feels hope for a moment. Could it be that the days of oppression and total lack of respect would finally end?

"Mr. Petros, can I stay at your house tonight?"

"It would be an honor for me if the great Lycan king stayed at my humble residence." Petros bows slightly.

Soon, they leave the bar and start walking towards Petros's house, and when Lyall realizes that Kailel is following them, he stops and turns to him.

"What are you doing?"

"I'm going with you."

"I don't think you're welcome here. Find a hotel in town or go back home." Lyall asserts himself, rejoining Ethan and Petros, not caring about the hatred on Kailel's face.

"How dare they speak to you like that, sir? Let's attack them now." One of the werewolves accompanying Kailel stands by his side.

"Have patience. There's a right time for everything."

Kailel gathers his troops and returns home with his tail between his legs, experiencing his first, albeit symbolic, defeat, which is bitter and frustrating for him.

At Petros's house, the Alpha thanks the Lycan king for his gesture, swearing loyalty to him from that moment on. Lyall takes the opportunity to share his plan against the enemy packs that pretended to be friends and, in the end:

"So, you're going to accept Kailel's invitation, even knowing it's a trap?" Ethan questions.

"Yes, but look on the bright side. They think I'm a young man who inherited the title of king because of my lineage. They know little about the rules of the Lycans and what I had to face to get here. They underestimate me and I will use that to my advantage."

"Even so, Lyall, I find it dangerous," Ethan insists.

"You'll be on the front line with me. But if you're still concerned, call for reinforcements. However, ask them to be discreet and act only when I command. Now, Mr. Petros, is there a place where I can rest tonight?"

"Of course, Your Majesty! I hope you don't mind sharing," Petros shows a room with two single beds.

While lying in bed, Lyall gets lost in his thoughts, reminiscing about the night of pleasure he enjoyed with a total stranger, wondering who that beautiful woman could be and where he would find her. He reflects on how he had so many women in his life, but she had something special, and Lyall was determined to find her and make her his companion. Amidst a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions, Lyall eventually falls asleep.

The next day, the Lycan king wakes up early, ready to enter the enemies' pack and face whatever may come, or almost everything.

In the Silver Claws pack, everyone gathers at the breakfast table, and Kassia soon notices that Ayda is serving instead of Selene. She questions, "Where is Selene? She should be here."

"True! Looking at your ugly face early in the morning ruins my appetite, Ayda," Kyma taunts the omega, who lowers her head.

"I apologize for that, Miss Kyma. But Selene is not feeling well and asked me to cover for her in this task," Ayda replies timidly, avoiding eye contact with the spoiled girl.

At that moment, everyone looks at Ian, who seems unfazed.

"What? Why are you all staring at me? In case you didn't know, I don't sleep with that filth; I only use her when I feel like it," Ian says, as if it were something normal, and he continues to eat his toast with jam.

"Ayda, go get that lazy girl. Tell her she has ten minutes to be here." The omega goes to do as Kassia ordered, but when she knocks on Selene's door, she notices that it is slightly ajar and notices that the girl inside is not getting anxious about the situation.

"What now? Has she run away again? What should I do?" Ayda stands in the hallway long enough to see Selene coming out of the bathroom.

" Are you feeling better? Did you buy the pregnancy test I suggested?"

"I'm better. And as for the test, it was negative. Thank you for helping me, Ayda."

"What a shame!"

"It doesn't matter. It's for the best."

"Very well! Now you have to go; the witch is calling for you."

"Thank you for helping me, Ayda."

As Selene heads to the room where the group is having their meals, Ayda goes to the bathroom to try to recover from the humiliation she has just suffered. She splashes water on her face and grabs a paper towel to dry herself off, and when she looks in the trash can, she notices the box of the pregnancy test Selene used, saying it was negative. Curiosity overwhelms her and she bends down to pick up the test and to her surprise says

"Positive?! What does that mean? Could it be that Selene lied to me? But why would she do that?" Ayda looks at the test result, puzzled.

Back at the breakfast table, Ian wryly questions Kailel, who claimed he would bring the Lycan king:

"So, Kailel, you said you'd bring the so-called Lycan king. Where is he?"

And just as Kailel, visibly annoyed with the joke his friend wanted to make at his expense, is about to respond, a deep masculine voice, previously unknown, draws attention:

"I'm here. Thank you, Kailel, for the invitation, and I apologize for not accompanying you yesterday. It would have been impolite of me to leave the Alpha of the Aurora Lupinos clan without resolving what I actually went there to do."

Everyone looks at the newcomer, noticing his beauty and imposing presence, catching Kyma's attention, who can't stop staring at him. Not only her, but even Kassia looks at the Lycan king with interest.

"And who are you?" Ian asks, with a stern expression.

"I am Lyall, the Lycan king."

"Ah! You are the son of the former king, Wyatt.... "I understood! Ian sneers.

"And you must be Ian. The one who killed his own father and older brother to become an alpha. How convenient! What morals do you have to talk about my heritage? Be quiet if you have nothing to say." Lyall confronts Ian.

"Let's calm down! There is no need for all this tension. After all, our goal is to restore peace and harmony. Please, Mr. Lyall, join us." Kailel tries to appease the situation, ringing a bell to summon the servant Selene. When the young she-wolf passes Lyall, the alpha king recognizes her scent and follows her with his eyes, observing the details of her body: her long black hair, her well-defined figure with curves in the right places, and her snow-clear skin. On impulse, the Lycan king grabs her wrist, causing his brown eyes to meet her amber ones:

"Is that you?"
