Chapter 08: I'm not letting Selene go away.

Selene raised her body, wiping away her tears in a decisive gesture that showed she was ready to move on. With determination, she looked at Lyall and said:

"Before I accompany him, I need to say goodbye and thank the family who welcomed me so warmly." She turned towards the village where she had spent so many meaningful moments.

At this moment, Sophia, Jamal's younger sister, approached curiously. She looked at Lyall and asked with a mischievous smile:

"Who's the handsome man next to you, Selene?" The beautiful wolf-woman bends down to Sophia's height and reveals:

"This man is the father of the child I'm expecting." Sophia's expression of surprise turns to genuine joy.

Prior to Selene could even formally introduce him, Sophia took the initiative:

"Hi, I'm Sophia! Who are you?" The tall, majestic man breaks his seriousness and smiles in a relaxed way, bending down to answer her.

"Hi, Sophia. I'm Lyall. Nice to meet you."

Sophia excitedly invites Lyall to her house, and he readily accepts. Selene picks up the basket full of apples that she had prepared to take to Grandma Rose's She starts walking a little behind, just watching attentively the way Lyall talks to the little girl. Selene notices how he leans in to listen to Sophia's words, responding gently. Involuntarily, a slight smile escapes Selene's lips. Seeing Lyall interact so naturally with Sophia fills her with a comforting feeling, as if she can glimpse the future she could have with him.

On arriving at the humble but well-kept house where Selene has been welcomed, Sophia can't contain her excitement. She runs ahead, pulling her grandmother Rose, who was busy picking some vegetables from her garden.

"Granny, granny, look who I brought! Selene and a handsome guy!" exclaims Sophia, jumping for joy.

Rose straightens up and looks at Selene with a gentle smile.

"My dear, it seems you've brought a special visitor. And who is this handsome young man next to you?"

Selene laughs softly and introduces Lyall to Rose. Meanwhile, Sophia wastes no time in tugging on Selene's sleeve and asking in a playful whisper:

"Is he your boyfriend, Selene?

"Not exactly, Sophia," Selene replied, smiling at the little girl.

Lyall approaches Rose and bows politely.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, ma'am."

Rose's eyes widen slightly as she looks at Lyall with recognition.

"Lyall? You remind me of someone. Rose continues to watch the young man in front of her with a keen eye and suddenly lights up her eyes, and her expression softening into a distant memory.

"Wyatt... you look a lot like him."

Lyall looks surprised by the comment.

"Wyatt? He's my father."

Rose's eyes fill with emotion.

"Oh, Wyatt, how I miss him. He was a remarkable man, a kind and brave king."

Lyall nods respectfully.

"He was a great leader and a devoted father."

Sophia, curious, looks at them.

"Granny, did you meet King Wyatt?"

Rose tenderly strokes her granddaughter's face.

"Yes, my little, I met him a long time ago, when your grandfather was still alive, our packs were allies. And now, here is his son, so like him."

Lyall smiles gently at Sophia.

"It seems that fate has its mysterious ways of connecting us."

"Welcome, Your Majesty," the matriarch of the Moon Pack. bows, recognizing Lyall as the Lycan king.

"Yes, I am the Lycan king, but here, in your pack, we don't need formalities. I've only come as a friend." Lyall smiles humbly. Rose nods and offers a friendly smile.

"By the way, what are your intentions, Mr. Lyall?" Rose asks curiously.

"I came to take Selene with me. I want to protect her, not only her, but also our child that she carries in her womb."

"So you're the father of Selene's baby. How wonderful!" Rose looks surprised and happy.

"Grandma Rose, that's why I brought Lyall. I decided to leave with him. I want our son to grow up protected and well cared for." Selene places the basket of apples on the wooden table in the corner of the small room, holding the already wrinkled hands of the kind and welcoming lady.

"It's only fair, my dear, and know that you have my full support. You deserve happiness, Selene, and I truly believe that Lyall can make you happy, as long as you accept and desire it."

"It will be hard for me to trust any man after all I've been through at the hands of that cursed man., but if Lyall treats my son well, that will be enough for me." The beautiful she-wolf smiles slightly.

"Oh, dear! I understand your feelings. All I ask is that you don't close your heart, don't close yourself off to love. Take your time, observe, evaluate carefully and then decide if Lyall deserves your love. One thing's for sure, he's dedicated; he even managed to find our village, all for you. Think about it carefully, okay?" Rose concludes her words with a loving hug for Selene, who returns the embrace.

"Why are you crying? Has something happened?" Ana approaches them both, looking worried.

"Mom, Selene is leaving with the handsome man who is the father of her child." Sophia reveals as she tugs at the hem of her mother's shirt.

"Her baby's father has turned up? That's a reason to celebrate, not to mourn. What's wrong with you two?" Ana scolds Rose and Selene.

"And who says we're moping? You don't speak of what you don't know and don't draw hasty conclusions. You busybody!"Rose scolds her daughter.

"Wow!" Ana exclaims and then feels Sophia's little hand grab hes, saying:

"Mom, do you want to meet Selene's baby's father?". The little girl makes a playful expression

" Me..." Before Ana can answer, Sophia is already pulling her mother towards where Lyall is sitting.

"Lyall, this is my mother, Ana."

Upon hearing Sophia's words, Lyall quickly stands up to greet the woman in front of him.

"Nice to meet you!"

Ana stares at him for a few seconds, looking him up and down, and then says:

"So you finally showed up? Do you know how much Selene has suffered? Do you know the state this girl was in when she arrived here? Oh, my God... I'm so angry." Ana shouts at Lyall, surprising everyone in the room. Rose then approaches her daughter, grabbing her short hair and making her body lean back…

" You crazy woman! Do you want to die? Do you know who you're yelling at? The Lycan king. Now beg not to die and apologize." Rose lets go of her cheeky daughter

"No! I said what I thought, and am I wrong? He may be the king, but it doesn't change the fact that Selene was treated worse than trash."

"Mrs. Ana, I thank you for defending me, but Mr. Lyall has nothing to do with everything I've been through, quite the opposite. He was the only one who gave me a moment of relief and happiness in my miserable life. I was the one who ran away from him out of fear, because of my traumas." Selene stands next to Lyall, stays is both happy and surprised by the words he has just heard. And to disguise his feelings, realizing that Selene was looking at him, he let out a smile, breaking the tension that had formed:

"I'm glad to see that you've found good people who really care about you. Thank you for taking such good care of Selene." Lyall bows in the direction of Rose and Ana, appear moved

"Let's stop this. How about a delicious apple pie to celebrate this happy moment?" Rose suggests.

"I'll get some cider from the cellar," Ana said excitedly.

Moments later, everything was ready, Sophia and Selene put the plates, glasses and cutlery on the table and Rose asked her granddaughter to go and call Jamal, because he couldn't be left out of such an important celebration and he also had to say goodbye to Selene. However, before the little girl even gets up from the table, Jamal enters the house

"What's going on here?" he looks at everyone with surprise

"Come on Jamal, join us." Rose calls to her grandson

"Can someone tell me what's the special occasion?"

"Selene found son's father and decided to go away with him." Sophia responds in her playful manner.

" What? cannot. I'm not going to let Selene leave like that."
