Chapter 4
I felt their gaze and tilted my head to the side to avoid staring straight ahead. The room was completely silent, and the air was still. I feel suffocated and uneasy in the presence of the Royal Family, as if my every move is being watched.
"Are you feeling better?"
The moment the Alpha King asked me, my eyes shot to him. It felt strange. They appeared to be watching a dramatic scene from a movie as they all turned to face us. I merely stared at him without saying anything.
My wolf was giggling. "You turned on your bitch mode once more."
How should we answer to his query, then? They are focused on me, I responded to Ruchel.
They won't judge you, so don't be concerned.
After hearing another soft, deep voice, I grimaced. There you have it, then. He had a mental read on me. I had forgotten that real lovers might bond mentally after the mating call.
"Yes, of course I can."
That voice came into my head and caught me off guard, but I didn't glance at him. The fact that this was happening baffled me.
He used our mind link again, "Are you okay?"
Every mate has the capacity to read them and telepathically connect with them. Being the Alpha allows you to communicate with your pack even at a distance, but only your mate has the ability to read your mind. Because he's not a conventional wolf, I can't read his mind just yet. To acquire each other's talent, we must first go through the mating process, which includes sexual contact. After that, we can use our combined strength. Your bond will become stronger after mating, and you won't be able to turn down your partner.
That's a ton of information, mate.
I glared at him severely. "This is not right! I can read your mind, but you can't read mine.
We can do the mating process if you like, he said with a shrug as he stared into my eyes.
When he gave me a seductive grin to taunt me even more, my nose blew up in wrath at what I had just heard.
Pervert!
I reached over to the bed next to mine and flung the pillow in his direction. His relatives sighed. As if nothing had happened, The Alpha King gave a head shake and placed the pillow back on my side.
He grinned tauntingly and remarked, "Given how she's still so savage, I'm guessing she's okay," before leaving the room.
"After you've had a chance to rest, let's talk."
When Alpha Domino's mother replied, I concurred. His father gave me a nod before leaving with his wife. Before closing the door, his sister and brother gave me a friendly wave.
I glanced to Emei after they had all departed and noticed her large eyes. She clung to my arm, grinning happily.
"What did he just say, and why are you blushing?" I rolled over to hide under the blanket in response to her query instead of answering it. "Hey!"
Emei, stop it now! Don't interrupt my peace; leave now! I rebuked, "I'm sleeping.
She needs to break the habit of constantly snooping into other people's affairs. She suddenly started laughing at me. She might have assumed that I was irritated and ashamed.
"Oh, Chandra, get moving! "Let the cat out of the bag!"
I scowled. "You are so nosy!"
I stayed in the hotel for an hour pretending to be sleeping before leaving to tour the Royal Kingdom. I still have to do my duty, which is to protect the King. I dressed up by donning a leather coat, black leggings, and a black blouse. In order to look respectable, I put my hair up in a bun and applied minimal makeup. Of course, I should still be attractive even if all I am is a shadow and a protector.
The palace of the Royal Family left me speechless. The building is old, but it still exudes elegance and shouts "worth millions," not to mention its elegant design.
In the huge land, I saw the pack warriors practicing. Some were fleeing into the woods, some were honing their weaponry, while still others were fighting it out in wolf form. Children watching them from the opposite side were naive. They were in awe of what they were seeing, and their eyes glistened. A rare pack is Silver Moon Pack Warrior. They are powerful and skilled in training. This is essential because the entire continent must be protected.
A large number of pack warriors were eyeing me as I walked down the hallway. They immediately bowed to me, which caught me off guard. I bowed as well because I was unsure of what to do. None of this was planned by me. respect and acknowledgment.
I came across the place where the warriors were practicing their archery while out for a stroll. I hadn't used a bow and arrow in a very long time, so I was curious.
They immediately handed the equipment to me after I approached them and asked for it. They appeared to be in a panic.
One of the warriors said, "Good morning, Luna." As I aimed for the objective, I raised an eyebrow.
Luna? They are aware, yeah.
I replied, "Good morning," and let the arrow fly.
The target was hit. I continue to not be lacking. They cheered, and my lips curled into a lovely smile. I had just started to frown when I saw the man approaching from behind. They made an honorable bow to our pack leader, but I refused to back down and lowered at him.
"Your grin is nice. You have a nice smile for a gruff lady."
The others appeared to be amused as they glanced at him and I overheard them pretending to cough. The Wolf King certainly has a knack for cuteness. Shocking.
Say, "Knock it off!" I gave him the evil glare and threw the bow over his chest.
He's never used a bow and arrow before, to my knowledge. I hardly ever see him use a weapon because, first and foremost, he is strong and physically twice as strong as everyone else, so he doesn't need one. He wasn't given the nickname "Alpha King" by accident.
I'd like you to shoot.
He raised his eyebrows and grinned menacingly. Whoa! "What's the catch?"
I looked at him in disbelief as my eyelids closed and crossed my arms over my chest.
He dared to challenge me even more?
I'm impressed.
He gave a mischievous smirk a start as he nodded before calculating the target's distance. I'd say he's in the right position for archery. In order to master the right routine for your style, you must practice the stance, grip, and breathing, all of which he has done well so far. Archery is more than just shooting the arrow to hit the target; it is also about growing strength.
He took aim after adjusting his position. When he let go of the arrow and it perfectly struck the middle, the corner of my mouth raised.
Very good.
He's performed better than I anticipated. I was pleased with his performance, but I was able to maintain my composure when he sent a proud gaze my way.
He licked his lips and asked, "Well?"
Not too awful. I looked away and started to move.
He's sexy! I now understand his status as the Alpha King. He is intelligent and gifted. He's the ideal candidate for the job! Ruchel bragged, "Deimos is too good to be true.
I completely concur. He's incredibly gorgeous and hot, but as I previously stated, appearances can be deceiving. Since I am not prepared for another love to enter my life and subject me to the same suffering I have already experienced, I need to get to know him better before deciding whether to accept or reject him.
"You won't turn him down, won't you, Chandra?"
To me, her tone seemed distressed. I sat down next to the river that I had just crossed on a rock. I smiled bitterly while turning away.
I don't want to have faith in him.
"Why?" Ruchel asked, perplexed.
"You're aware of my tale, right? He's the reason I'm alone, I added resentfully.
And you are aware that he wasn't at fault. You continue to defend him because you want to, in addition to doing so because it is your duty and responsibility to do so.
"I avoid combining personal and work-related issues. They differ from each other.
It's the sole explanation. It is my responsibility to keep him safe, even if it costs thousands of lives.
