Chapter 3

Jordan Braxton's office was a simple bureau where he organized his affairs. The desk that separated him from Olivia was once a large oak tree from the forest. On it, there was an Apple desktop which was on the table resting a plate of chocolate cookies just as she loves It.

"You need to watch your weight, Cupcake," Jordan commented.

He always spoiled Olivia with candies yes reprimands her for taking an overdose.

"What is that you had to tell me that couldn't be discussed over the phone?" she asked amidst a mouthful of cookies.

Jordan's face hardened immediately as long lines passed through his forehead.

It seemed that he had something important he had to say but didn't know how to put it in smoke terms.

"Alright, I'll tell you what this grand information is all about," he spat rubbing his mustache.

Olivia rested her back on the chair relaxing, as she prepared her ears to know what the matter is. Taking a long gulp from her mug, she flipped her tongue outside to lick the last liquid that remained on her upper lips. Her brown eyes rested on Jordan's features as she studied his expression calmly.

Clearing his throat, Mr. Braxton started in his husk baritone.

"You know the concert of yesterday was worth it right? The news of your perfect performance went around the world making people love you even more. This morning, I received a mail from someone..." he halted scanning through Olivia's beautiful face.

The cookies seemed to taste like chalk in her mouth as she was eager to know what was happening.

"Yes, you received a mail, what about it?" she asked in her smooth sharp voice.

Heaving a sigh that seemed clutched in his throat, he decided to spit out the whole information.

"Well, I know you didn't plan on traveling till after a month, but we have to do this one. The mail is from Mr. Ashton Hendrix Taylor, the multi-millionaire of Lendamor. He says he wants you to sing for him at his birthday party," Jordan explained everything.

From Creekhill, Lendamor was a twelve hours journey by plane. It is a very huge city in Europe, and the economy was very high. Unfortunately, Olivia had never been invited to that city.

Now that she was and she had always dreamt of going there since it was the center of attraction and a very good place for shopping, she didn't seem to have the zeal to honor the invitation.

The sour look on her face was a result that Jordan had made arrangements that are contrary to hers.

"You don't mean it, right? For Heaven's sake Jordan, we agreed that no concerts till June," she blurted out faintly.

"This is not a concert, it is just a small party where you will be expected to sing there and that is all, besides, the money, you will make from this trip will enable you to enjoy yourself for the rest o the month," he said trying to convince her.

Although Olivia wasn't an easygoing type, Jordan always had his ways to manipulate her into accepting any deal he brings before her.

"How much is he going to pay I hope it is a one-day thing because I don't plan on spending more than a day in Lendamor," she explained.

Jordan was shocked by Olivia's words because she had always praised the town but now she seems cold feet in accepting the proposal.

"I know this will be a little bit inappropriate, but Mr. Ashton asked for a three days contract. That is, you will sing two days before his birthday, and on the last day which is his birthday, you will have to sing at his party before him and his friends. Don't worry, he said it's a private party so I wonder if there are going to be any people from the press recording," he concluded.

Olivia seemed to be glued on the chair, the idea wasn't a bad one at all, apart from the fact that she has going to spend three days of her life in Lendamor.

A small smile appeared in her features chasing away the ugly lines from her face. An idea had just popped up in her head. Since Jordan wanted her to attend the party, it was an added advantage to her because she had longed to go to Lendamor for a long time but had not been changed. While there, she could do the desired shopping she longed for and could even relax her muscles during the day while waiting for her show time to arrive.

Peeping through her designer glasses, she removed them as she flared her eyelashes.

"Not a bad idea at all, this isn't a bad idea at all," she said honestly.

"What do you mean?" Jordan questioned staring fixedly at her.

"Meaning I accept. By the way, I've longed to go to Lendamor for a while now, especially after all the good things I've heard and seen on the Tv and other social media platforms, I will be pleased to take a look at the place anyway," she concluded.

Mr. Braxton gave a bright smile as he was pleased to know that Olivia was listening to him anyway.

As happy as he was, he picked a cookie from her plate and dug his teeth into it.

"Cheers to you, Olivia, you will climb mountains no one has ever ventured," he said smiling.

Olivia's smile was as bright as his as they enjoyed one another's company. But then, a question pricked her mind and she placed her mug on the desk, as she dusted the crumbs from her fingertips into the empty sections of the plate.

She lifted her head to find Jordan's blue eyes piercing hers adoringly. He was like this most times, especially when things worked the way he wanted them to.

"I have a question," Olivia said as she used a napkin to dab her lips with it.

"Sure, any question is welcome," Mr. Braxton said.

Little did he know that the next words are going to be a bomb to him.
