1- Dancing under full moon
Dasy had a very unique way of being, unlike most dancers who tend to be very disciplined, organized, and punctual, Dasy was spontaneous and sometimes took risks without worrying too much about the future. She had the charm of retaining her innate, pure, and free soul. She was responsible, loved by all, and very talented, but her nature was the total surrender of her passions, and that always involved a certain level of freedom.
That night, after leaving her rehearsal, Dasy wanted to go for a walk and get some fresh air. She enjoyed walking through a forest that was behind the theater. She packed her ballet shoes, stretching blanket, and water flask into her bag and headed towards the parking lot. As she descended the stairs of the main hall of the theater, she came across Federick, his hands inside Débora's blouse, and she looked at Dasy with smeared lipstick, curving a smile and her eyes fixed on Dasy.
"Dasy, I didn't expect you to still be here," said Federick, turning his face towards Dasy and letting go of Débora's hands.
She let out a laugh and looked at Dasy defiantly, then bit Federick's neck and passionately kissed him.
Dasy politely smiled and went down to the parking lot. The last thing she wanted was to know that her ballet's principal soloist partner, Federick, was sleeping with the principal dancer from her dance company. Débora had always desired to be the prima ballerina and have Dasy's position. Many dancers longed to have Dasy's position in the company, but Débora was particularly insistent on letting everyone know that she thought she deserved to be the Prima Ballerina. Of course, she would try to get involved with the only dancer who danced alongside Dasy, everything that Dasy had, Débora wanted.
I walked towards the parking lot and lit a cigarette. The truth is, I don't smoke, but lately, I feel like everything is changing in me, the unknown succumbs to me like the howl of wolves rises to the moon.
I didn't feel jealous of Débora and Federick's romance; in fact, I found Federick to be very effeminate and perhaps a bit rude for my taste. His body was muscular and athletic, but he was quite delicate and sometimes careless in lifting or holding me in the choreographies, so I deduced that he might be a bit careless with women as well. I didn't want a man who needed therapy; I wanted someone who took care of himself and shared his beauty with me. Dance and ballet had enough beauty, but I needed to highlight the beauty of my body, my feminine energy. I get into the car and turn on the radio.
The song "Love Story" by Taylor Swift plays, I turn up the volume and start singing out loud. Before turning on the car, I stare at myself in the rearview mirror, my face looks refined and elegant. My nose and features stand out with my hair pulled back, then I let my hair loose, and my curls cover my shoulders and back. Listening to the music fills me with good mood, I wink at myself in the mirror and my honey-brown eyes gleam with excitement. I apply some of my favorite perfume that I always have in the car. Then I drive towards the forest. The journey is quick and as I enter between the trees, the misty fog makes me turn on the lights. I drive towards a small pond where there is an ancient baroque structure, where people usually have picnics and feed the swans. I love sliding my bare feet on the smooth marble and dancing while I watch the water of the lake and commune with nature.
I park in front of two large cedar trees that flank the pond, as I get out of the car I take a deep breath and look up at the sky, feeling the immensity of the cedars and nature. The trees that surround me, I walk towards the hall, empty and open to the outdoors, the construction is decorated by two arches that allow a clear view towards the pond and at the other end the entrance of the visitors. I take off my sneakers and put on the ballet mesh slippers, I walk towards the pond, spinning, as if embracing the space and enveloping it in circles, in complete fullness of my body, in complete solitude and peace.
Then I dance, aware that no one can see me, and I perform the most beautiful movements. I transport myself to another place, I close my eyes and continue dancing, I put on the music from his headphones, and in that infinite and beautiful dance, I am no longer alone. A handsome and masculine man dances by my side, he holds me in his arms, my eyelids remain closed, and he admires the beauty of my face reflecting the endless night of his bright blue eyes, deeply fixed on me.
His eyes are blue and his arms are muscular and strong, they envelop me in an eternal dance, and with each turn under his arms, I wish to press my body closer to my handsome dance partner. For unknown reasons, it feels real, being in his arms, and the music seems to envelop the environment and float alongside the swans, bringing them messages from celestial realms. My dance partner is masculine and has a protective air that inspires me with a sense of security.
Suddenly, the music fades away. I open my eyes and become aware of the dark night that surrounds the atmosphere. The place is illuminated only by the headlights that envelope it. I take off my portable headphones, and a tree branch has fallen, blocking the entrance or exit of the room. A large trunk, full of branches and leaves, does not allow me to leave. With the movement and loud sound of the trees, I can deduce that a storm is coming. If the wind has knocked down this tree, strong gusts could make another tree fall, maybe onto my car. "I have to go home," I think to myself as the strong night breeze moves my hair. I try to pass through the branches and fallen trunk, but it is uncomfortable and access is completely blocked. Then I walk towards the other exit that borders the lake. Just a few meters from my feet, the water extends towards the swans and other aquatic animals. I sigh. I take my ballet shoes in one hand and put on my sneakers again. The cold night breeze makes me exhale white smoke from my rosy lips. My bright eyes stay alert. Then I carefully walk along the edge of the lagoon. Everything seems calm, and the dark, infinite water shows no signs of life in it. The cherry blossom flowers fall towards one corner of the lake, filling it with blooming buds that float and shine. Under the full moon, their red petals take on a seductive, almost magical air. I observe the beauty of the lake and think that the flowers look like candles on the water. I walk, moving my delicate legs and sweet behind, until I am back on the path that leads to the forest.
