Chapter 3 A Wedding Gift

Theodore and Genevieve were skeptical but ultimately backed her up in breaking off the engagement.

Cecilia lay on her long-missed big bed, staring at the super black card in her hand, wondering if teaming up with Alaric was the right move.

In her past life, Alaric was the only one who stood in Dominic's way of joining the noble family. He was surprisingly stubborn.

And that call the night before her wedding—was it a prank, or something else? She couldn't figure it out now.

But to completely take down the Kingsley family, she needed an ally.

She thought for a moment and confirmed with the biggest luxury mall in Serenovia City that this card was indeed their super VIP card, with no spending limit. She could buy anything, and they'd even offer video shopping and deliver it right to her door.

Cecilia looked at the card in her hand. This was a super luxury mall; she could really spend enough to bankrupt the Whitaker family!

Then Cecilia gave the mall a list of items to be delivered to her home and went to sleep. After all, with such a life-changing rebirth, she needed time to wrap her head around it.

On the other side of the Christian holy land, Lumina Mountain, there was an exclusive super club, membership-only, not just for the rich.

And Alaric was a regular here.

He was now sitting in a private room on the edge of a cliff, smoking casually.

A group of women was serving his friends playing pool nearby, with all sorts of raunchy scenes.

The man sitting next to him, Cassius Blackburn, reminded Alaric that his phone had been ringing non-stop.

Cassius saw a string of transaction records and laughed, saying Alaric was spending money on some girl again.

The transaction notifications kept coming.

Cassius heard the notification sounds and felt a pang of heartache. "This girl is pretty ruthless. The kicker is you haven't even touched her..."

"I should be generous to her; after all, she is my bride-to-be," Alaric suddenly said.

Cassius was stunned for a couple of seconds, not believing what he heard.

"I said, I'm getting married," Alaric extinguished his cigarette and smiled.

The next second, Cassius exploded, his expression extremely exaggerated. "What did you just say?"

Alaric picked up the suit jacket he had taken off. "Prepare the wedding gift."

He got up and walked to the door.

A coquettish woman blocked his way.

Alaric glanced at her. "Move!"

She looked at Alaric in disbelief but felt like he might kill her, so she quickly stepped aside.

The rumors about Mr. Whitaker being indiscriminate was clearly exaggerated. She thought she could take advantage of the situation, but indeed, getting close to a handsome and wealthy man was far more challenging than she anticipated.

Cecilia, still in her sleep, was awakened by the ringing of her phone.

She saw it was Alaric's number.

Suppressing her temper, she answered.

"If my memory serves me right, I only covered your medical expenses, Ms. Lockhart," Alaric's tone was harsh.

Cecilia used the card he gave her just to make him contact her.

She chuckled lightly and said, "I told you, consider it a wedding gift."

"So Ms. Lockhart, you unceremoniously spent five million dollars in one go."

She was just buying random stuff. Was there that much?

She said, "I'll make sure you get this money back. You help me take down the Kingsley family, and I'll help you remove the obstacles on your path to the noble family." Cecilia's tone was serious.

Alaric was silent for a few seconds.

How did she know about his plans?

Cecilia could guess what he was thinking and said directly, "I know you better than you think."

"Then I'm at a disadvantage," Alaric said coldly.

"No, you should be glad I chose to help you instead of..." Cecilia said, "helping Dominic."

In her previous life.

Although Alaric and Dominic were the strongest competitors against each other.

In the end, she died without knowing who won.

Maybe it was Dominic, as he despicably used the Lockhart family's wealth after her death to marry into the noble family.

Cecilia had to hide her hatred, concealing the cruel harm she had once suffered.

Alaric bluntly expressed his disbelief in what Cecilia said. After all, she was determined to marry Dominic before, and now she suddenly wanted to cooperate with him.

"You just come on my wedding day, I'll show you my sincerity," Cecilia knew that saying more was useless. Only her actions could make her intentions clear.

"Okay," Alaric agreed readily.

So readily that Cecilia was a bit surprised.

"It's a deal!"
