Chapter 4 Mrs. Lancelot is about to cause trouble

Seeing the situation, Mark quickly approached and took the keys, assuming the role of the driver. Daphne opened the passenger door and got in without glancing at Charles again.

Mark felt timid, afraid that Daphne might say something that would anger Mr. Lancelot.

He hesitated and said, "Mrs. Lancelot, you..."

"Drive," Daphne interrupted.

Mark glanced at the rearview mirror, saw Mr. Lancelot's lack of reaction, and started driving out of the parking lot.

Silence filled the car throughout the journey. Mark felt suffocated by the atmosphere inside the car.

Neither Mr. Lancelot nor Mrs. Lancelot had any intention of speaking, and a chill emanated from both of them.

Mr. Lancelot was naturally temperamental, but even Mrs. Lancelot, who was in a good mood just now, was like this!

Charles sat in the back seat, his gaze uncontrollably fixed on the silent person in the passenger seat, with emotions stirring in his eyes that he himself was not aware of.

Half an hour later, the car stopped at the entrance of the hospital.

Charles firmly grabbed Daphne's wrist and pulled her towards the VIP ward in the inpatient department.

"Mr. Lancelot," Daphne winced in pain, unable to help herself and coldly mocked, "If you keep gripping me like this, you'll be charged with intentional harm before I'm even convicted."

Hearing her voice, Charles finally released his hand, leaving her wrist red from the grip.

Daphne glared at him.

Feeling uncomfortable under her gaze, Charles felt a hint of apology, but as soon as he thought about the possibility of her being the mastermind behind Kayla's injury, that trace of remorse disappeared completely.

"Follow me," he turned his head away and marched towards Kayla's ward with long strides, opening the door with a raised hand.

As the door opened, Kayla, half-lying on the bed, saw Charles and a smile appeared on her face. She called out to him with deep dependence, "Charles."

Charles quickly walked to her, comforting her, while Daphne entered at this moment.

Seeing the affectionate couple, Daphne sarcastically remarked, "Should I excuse myself first? Do you want to finish the affair first?"

"...Miss Murphy...please don't misunderstand, it's not what you think between Charles and me." Kayla became nervous when she saw her, trying to explain.

Daphne: "?"

Her emotions were calm as she said meaningfully, "If you let go of his hand, this statement might be more persuasive."

As she spoke, she walked towards the bed, and when she got closer, she observed Kayla's appearance in its entirety.

Gentle and kind, fragile.

This was Kayla's first impression on her, and it's no wonder Charles couldn't forget her.

"Charles..." Kayla held Charles' hand with a hint of grievance.

Daphne witnessed this scene.

She felt a bit mocking in her heart, understanding that Kayla was doing this intentionally.

It was nothing more than wanting to see her create a scene in the ward like a shrew and provoke Charles.

Thinking that Kayla was afraid Daphne would trouble her, Charles comforted her by patting her back and using a much gentler tone, "It's okay, I'm here."

"Charles." Daphne felt nauseated. "I am still here."

How could Charles openly cheat on her as if she was so easily bullied? Charles turned a deaf ear and continued to comfort Kayla's emotions.

"Mark, how long are you going to see?" Daphne glanced at the door, already on the verge of anger.

Mark entered without knowing how he was discovered, "Mrs. Lancelot."

"Use your phone to capture footage of your Boss being intimate with other women," Daphne calmly spoke, "I'm curious to know if the reputation of the Lancelot Group's CEO will be affected when news of infidelity within marriage comes out."

Mark: "!!!"

"Charles..." Kayla's face turned pale as she let go of Charles' hand.

"Daphne, have you caused enough trouble?" Charles's presence turned cold as he patted Kayla's back

to console her. "I brought you here to apologize to Kayla."

Daphne took out her phone and opened the video recorder, "I thought you called me here to catch you two in the act."

As soon as these words were spoken, the room fell silent.

"What do you think would happen if I sent this to your mother?" Daphne clicked save and put her phone in her bag.

Charles's expression became somewhat cold.

Daphne looked at his face, still as handsome as ever, even with his face full of indifference, he was extremely pleasing to the eye.

"Are you threatening me?"

"Just joking, I just thought you two were a perfect match. I can print screenshots of every scene I just recorded and use them as wallpaper." Daphne spoke casually, scanning her gaze over the two of them.

"But are you sure this how you want to discuss things with me?" Charles didn't move.

His attitude clearly indicated that no matter what you said, he would side with Kayla.

"Fine," Daphne said, setting down her bag.

No one could understand what she was doing.

Except for Mark, who felt uneasy and had a gut feeling that Mrs. Lancelot was about to take action!

And he was right.

Daphne came over and grabbed his arm, speaking in a tone almost identical to before: "If you have something to discuss, do it quickly. Afterward, Mark and I have some matters to talk about."

Mark exclaimed inwardly!

Quickly, he spoke up, his usual calm composure nowhere to be found: "Boss, I am completely innocent when it comes to Mrs. Lancelot. I haven't done anything to betray you."

"Why the rush?" Daphne's voice had a soothing effect, "You can't compare to Kayla. Look at her, so calm."

Mark...

Charles...

A hint of menace flickered in Kayla's eyes.

Mark felt Charles' hand on his arm was scorching.

"Mark Thompson," Charles spoke, his words carrying a warning.

Mark wanted to separate his hand from Daphne's. But... he couldn't!

With astonishment, he looked at Mrs. Lancelot, who remained composed and indifferent. Why did Mrs. Lancelot have such strength?!

"Boss..." Mark wanted to cry, "I am truly innocent when it comes to Mrs. Lancelot."

Charles' aura became colder and more sinister.

Then, in the next moment, he grabbed a pillow and placed it behind Kayla's back, removing his hand as he did so.

Daphne raised an eyebrow and also removed her hand from Mark, finding a chair to sit down on.

Mark let out a sigh of relief.

Kayla noticed the unspoken agreement between the two, and the hand concealed under the blanket involuntarily tightened.

"According to Charlie, Miss Baker accused me of hiring someone to hit you, and she has evidence," Daphne changed her address, her expression inscrutable, "I wonder if it's convenient for you to show me the evidence?"
