Chapter 8

Dominic Maxwell.

I didn't have a great childhood, and my parents, especially my father, were very strict with me.

Because he was the CEO of a famous company in the United States, so he didn't want his firstborn son to make any mistakes. He wanted me to be the perfect person to inherit the company. He also didn't want scandals about me to appear in the newspapers because it would ruin his image.

I was taught all sorts of manners, and I had to learn a dozen languages, because a person in business should have that kind of knowledge.

Every night I wanted it all to be over, I wanted to be independent, live a life where I could make my own decisions.

At this point, an opportunity arose, my parents arranged an arranged marriage for me and I met Hailey, at first I was shocked by this because she was only a teenager and had to marry me.

I was relieved when my parents said she wouldn't marry me until she was 18. When we went on our first date, I realized I wasn't the only one who wanted to escape my parents' clutches.

"You know what's funny? Nothing is ever enough for them, no matter how hard we try to be perfect. Tell you what, we'll get married when you're eighteen, and we'll be free to do whatever we want. Of course, you can ask for a divorce later, but I want you to be happy."

I said to her as I looked into her eyes. I was happy she accepted my proposal because we both longed for freedom. After we got married, we started enjoying our freedom, and while on our honeymoon in Russia, we visited Rome and other incredible places in Rome.

For the first time, I realized that the weight on my shoulders had disappeared, and I felt energized and at peace.

I admit, I thought Hailey would file for divorce after a while, but that wasn't the case, and we ended up falling in love with each other and having our first time when she was twenty years old.

Today I am 28 years old, and I am the CEO of the largest automotive industry, which was given to me by my father, it started as a very small company and over time, it grew and grew, and today it is the largest company in the world. I am proud of my work and my freedom.

I had cut ties with my parents and never saw or heard from them again, nor did I want to know anything about them.

All I wanted to do now was focus on my wife and my career as a CEO.

I managed to get Hailey into the college of her dreams and I can confirm that I am crazy about my wife, I love her very much and I do everything to make her happy.

When she started talking about a girl named Madison, I admit I was very jealous, why was she only talking about that girl? But when I met her in person, I realized why she liked talking about her so much.

She was very pretty, but I noticed that she was very thin, but she was thin not because she was naturally thin, but it seemed as if she was malnourished, but I can't say that about her either.

When I went to pick up my wife and saw her in the rain, and she told me what had happened, I was very worried, and I was a little worried about Madison too.

But now I was even more worried, she had just collapsed in my arms and her whole body looked like it was on fire.

"Honey, we need to get her to the hospital quickly." Hailey said worriedly.

I took Madison in my arms and we walked to the car, she opened the door and got in, I put her in the seat and Haley leaned her head on her lap. I closed the door, got in the car, and drove towards the hospital.

"I'm sure it's because of the rain." My wife said worriedly.

"I'm sure she'll be fine, the hospital I'm going to specializes in that, honey." She sighed.

I looked through the rearview mirror and saw her gently running a hand through her hair.

I was surprised at myself because I am a very jealous person, but now I feel nothing.

I pulled into the parking lot and then quickly got out of the car, opened the door, and picked the poor girl up again, her face ending up on my neck, and because of the contact, I could feel how hot she was.

"Shit!"

"What's wrong?" Hailey asked worriedly as we walked into the hospital.

"Her fever is getting worse."

"Call a doctor! She needs a doctor!"

Soon, a nurse came over.

"What happened?"

"She's burning," I said, showing her Madison's condition.

"Excuse me." She put her hand to her forehead.

I noticed that my wife couldn't take her eyes off the nurse.

Is she jealous?

"I'm going to get a stretcher. She needs an emergency check-up." The nurse said and ran down the corridor.

Madison started coughing, which worried us.

"Damn, she shouldn't have left like that." I could see how worried she was.

"She'll be fine now, honey," he said, trying to calm her down.

She sighed and nodded.

We noticed the nurse approaching with a stretcher and the doctor.

"Please put her here."

I carefully placed Madison on the stretcher, the nurse took her away, and the doctor stayed.

I looked at my wife.

"We are her friends." She replied nervously.

"Good. Can you tell me how long she's been like this?"

"We don't know." I answered.

"We found her in college and she fainted." He nodded and wrote it down.

"Can you tell me the patient's age?"

"Twenty," my wife replied.

He nodded again and wrote it down. We saw the nurse who took Madison away coming towards us with a shocked look.

"Doctor, we need you now."

"I'll be right back." The two of them left, and we were even more worried.

"I don't know what happened. Did you see the look on her face, honey?" She began to move around.

"Don't worry, baby." I pulled her into my arms, and she quickly responded.

"Let's just wait and see what the doctor says."

She sighed and kissed my chest.

"I know, but I can't stop worrying. Madison reminds me of being alone, with no one around you. That's why I want to be her friend."

"Just friends?" I asked.

I'm not angry.

She was silent for a few minutes, and I started stroking her hair, waiting for her answer.

"I don't know, honey. I don't know how to answer you right now.

I kissed his hair.

"gentlemen."

We looked back and saw the same doctor, who didn't look good.

"Doctor, how is Madison? Is she going to be okay?" Haley asked, her hands still on my waist.

He sighed and adjusted his glasses.

"I'll be honest with you. Your friend is being brutally beaten."

We were very surprised by this information.

"She had injuries all over her body. We took X-rays and found that her left shoulder was dislocated, her right arm was fractured, and she was severely malnourished. I admit that I was surprised that she did not die. Her condition was very complicated, and she needed surgery."

I looked at my wife, who didn't speak. She was very surprised by this information. She was not the only one who was surprised. I was also surprised.

"Do the surgery, doctor. I'll pay as much as you need." He nodded.

"Doctor?" He stopped and turned to her.

"Yes?"

"Has she been sexually abused?" I looked at him, waiting for his answer.

"Luckily not." We were all relieved to hear the news.

"Thank you." He waved us off.

Hailey hugged me, and I noticed her shoulders were shaking.

"My love, she's going to be okay now." I hugged her and kissed her hair.

"She needed help, but I didn't notice it sooner."

"Honey, you said she pushed you away, and there was no way you would have noticed such a thing. She hid it well enough that there was no way you or anyone would know."

"Had she not been ill, we would never have known about the abuse."

"Now she'll be safe, she'll recover and get out of here."

Hailey lifted her face from my chest and stared at me with her beautiful blue eyes.

"She needs a safe place, can we take her home?" I knew she would ask.

"Sure, we can. We'll take care of your friends."

She kissed my chin.

"I love you and that will never change."

I smiled.

"I love you too. Now, we should focus on Madison."
