CHAPTER 3 Marry Him
Margaret's POV
The intense pain in my arm reminded me that I was not dreaming. My intuition told me that my chance for revenge had finally come.
"Oops! Margaret, what's wrong with you? You can't even hold a cup of coffee properly," Sarah impatiently looked at me. "Luckily, you didn't spill it on me, or you'd be in for a beating today!"
Oscar frowned at my hand, then scolded Sarah in a low voice, "That's enough, Sarah."
I looked gratefully at Oscar. Over the years, he had taken care of me a lot, and I had never seen him mistreat any of us Omegas in the DarkMoon Pack.
"I'm sorry, Miss Sarah," I apologized to Sarah with my head bowed.
This kind of thing had happened countless times in the past. My self-esteem was worthless in the face of survival, or rather, Omegas had no dignity in the Dark Moon Pack. I believed that when Oscar became the pack's Alpha, our Omega lives would definitely improve, but unfortunately, I probably wouldn't have the chance to see it with my own eyes.
My eyes pretended to be secretive as they fell on Jacob Gelbero's information on the table. Sarah noticed my movement as expected. Her eyes flickered, then she got up and walked to Alpha Saul's side.
"Father, I have a perfect solution," she said, her eyes constantly scanning me.
Saul frowned at her, looking somewhat skeptical. "What solution?"
My face made an expression of confusion, but I already knew what Sarah wanted to say. That was also my purpose.
Sure enough, she pointed at me and said, "Anyway, Alpha Jacob has never seen me before, so let Margaret marry him instead of me. And I see that Margaret is very interested in him too, so she probably won't refuse my proposal, right, Margaret?"
I immediately pretended to be afraid and crouched down on the ground, but did not deny it.
"What nonsense are you talking about!" Saul was so angry that he jumped up from his chair. "Absurd! She's an Omega, and you're the daughter of an Alpha! How could an Omega possibly marry Alpha Jacob instead of you?!"
Sarah looked indifferent.
"Father, she can also be the daughter of an Alpha as long as we don't say anything. Margaret can be Sarah. And...Margaret has been taking care of me and Oscar since we were young. She even understands us better than you do. As you just saw, she is very loyal and will never betray our Dark Moon Pack..."
Her words made Saul and Oscar fall into contemplation, and I carefully observed Saul's facial expression, trying to interpret his inner thoughts.
Saul's expression gradually relaxed from his initial opposition, and his gaze kept shifting between me and Sarah.
"Margaret, are you really willing to marry Alpha Jacob instead of Sarah?" Saul's tone was unusually gentle, but I knew it was all a facade. I had seen how he tortured the Gamma and Omegas who offended him, and his methods were no gentler than Jacob's.
A hint of calculation flashed in his eyes, though briefly, but I caught it sharply. He was probably thinking that if Sarah got married and ran away, it would cause even more trouble for the pack. If I took her place, and things were exposed later, the responsibility could be pushed onto me or both me and Sarah, and the pack would not be affected too much.
"Alpha Saul, for the sake of my masters and the pack, I am willing," I said sincerely, as if I were a thoroughly tamed loyal slave.
Saul nodded satisfactorily and agreed to the substitution. He used the Alpha's command to forbid anyone in the pack from revealing the substitution, and sent Sarah abroad on the night before the wedding.
Early the next morning, I was taken by the Berserk Pack warriors who came to pick up Sarah, but strangely, I was taken to the sanctuary room of the church instead of the main hall where the wedding was held.
As I wondered why, several she-wolves walked in. The slightly chubby she-wolf at the head looked at me sternly.
"Sorry, Miss Sarah, we need to make sure you haven't brought any dangerous items before we can take you to the main hall for the wedding."
I couldn't help but sneer, "It seems like your Alpha has many enemies."
I let them search me with peace of mind because I wasn't stupid enough to assassinate him on his wedding day. I wouldn't blindly start my revenge without knowing my opponent first.
After the search was over, I was finally taken to the main hall of the church. Saul was at the door, looking a little anxious, but visibly relieved when he saw me. When we were ready and in position, the doors of the main hall were opened. The guests inside were already seated, and their eyes all fell on me at once.
I restrained my inner excitement and anger. Finally, I could see what the person who killed my parents looked like!
I looked forward, and a tall man walked towards me not far away. His strong and smooth muscles filled out his suit perfectly.
As he approached me, I realized he was a head taller than me, and I felt an unprecedented sense of oppression.
This was Jacob Gelbero...
The veil blocked my view, and I couldn't see him clearly. But his aggressive gaze seemed to have pierced through the veil and seen through me, making me involuntarily tense up.
Jacob slowly took me from Saul's hands, and my hand, in his, looked small like a child's. He gestured for me to hold his hand, and the touch of our bodies made me feel the strength in his arm more directly.
He was even more powerful than I had imagined...
My thoughts were consumed with ideas on how to kill Jacob from that moment on, so much so that when I came back to my senses, it was already time for the kiss.
"Alright, groom, you may now kiss your bride," the priest smiled at Jacob.
In my nervous state, Jacob lifted my veil without any emotion. Our eyes met, and we both froze for a moment.
Unlike the ugly and fierce appearance I had imagined, his face was very delicate. His sharp jawline, sexy thick lips, high nose, maple-colored pupils even made me feel a hint of warmth. And his thick but regular eyebrows made him look like a perfect Greek god from a myth.
"Have we met before?" His low, magnetic voice rang in my ear.
Just as he leaned in to take a closer look, two anxious-looking warriors rushed in from the door. "Alpha, Bluebell Pack has launched a surprise attack!"
His gaze turned sharp, then instantly transformed into wolf form.
I swear it was the biggest wolf I had ever seen.
He leaped to the door of the church and howled towards the sky. Within 10 seconds, Berserk Pack warriors rushed in.
He was in a state of excitement as if he had taken some kind of stimulant: "Warriors, it's hunting time!"
