CHAPTER 7

David went to bed that night thinking about the deal he made with his daughter. He could tell that Lily was insisting on having the little woman because she truly liked her and a sense of anxiousness could be spotted in his daughter's eyes, even though she tried concealing it. It was their first meeting, so why was Lily so down to that little woman?

David had to admit that she was eye-catching. Her innocent eyes and purity emanation from within her added to her charms. She was very beautiful even while dressed so casually.

Then he remembered the sweet smile she flashed at him and he could feel his heart warming up. He knew he was a goner. He wanted her by his side and he would do anything to achieve that. Widely known as the most unscrupulous businessman in town who could do anything for profits, he swore that this time, he'll do everything to have her. It didn't matter if he had to lay a trap for her. As long as he could get her by his side, he was willing to add more to his sins.

David remembered the sweet Jasmine scent mixed with lemon that hit him the moment they got close earlier. He fantasized about her Lean and long legs tightly wrapped around his waist as he kissed those plump pink lips.He couldn't help his little brother who danced with delight after fantasizing about her.

He was a man who never used his lower half to think, but today, he had fought the urge to pull the little woman in his arms and taste her lips. After being in the business world for years, David had surely met countless women. Women of all social statuses and characters but none had the effect she had on him. Not even his Sandra, his dead wife. The marriage between him and Sandra was a marriage of convenience, there was no love involved between them, or at least from his side. She was the one who proposed marriage and after thinking it through, David had agreed with her.

Back in those days, he was invested in developing and managing Brown's co-op to what it is now. He had little to no time for himself, talk less of finding a wife. His grandmother was breathing on his neck, urging him to get married and give the Brown family an heir. Since he and Sandra knew each other from back in the years, she was the most suitable candidate for marriage. Even though no feelings were involved in their marriage, the two respected each other. David would come home to his wife after work. He respected her and was faithful to her. He was a one-woman man.

Sandra was the most understanding wife he had ever seen, not that he had seen many. She wouldn't nag him If he came home late or never came at all. She trusted him blindly and treated him well.

After a year of their marriage, she conceived a baby for him. David can still remember how happy he was after getting the news that he would be a daddy and then, eight months later, they welcomed their first child, a bouncing baby girl whom they named Lilian. His marriage life was smooth, he could proudly say that he had a wonderful family. That was until three years ago when that accident happened that claimed his wife's life, leaving Lily a motherless child.

Thinking about his daughter, he felt pain in his chest. Although Lily was young when her mother passed away, it still affected her. The once bubbly and adorable little girl changed to a withdrawn and quiet girl. Lily might have a sharp tongue, but she wasn't like that to everybody. The only people she communicated normally with were him, her father, her grandmother, and Aunt Meng who took care of her all this while. She would treat the maids harshly and hated it whenever someone entered her room or touched her things. He knew these changes were due to the lack of maternal love.

That's why he tried to direct all his love and attention to her so that he could try to fill the void left behind by the absence of a mother. But his actions were proven fruitless so he started looking for an ideal woman for a stepmom.

David had been looking for a woman with similar characteristics to Sandra hoping that would make Lily happy but every time, she seemed pissed off. She would then ensure that those women left the Brown Villa embarrassed. She had even one day confronted him saying that she needed a mother, not a replacement.

At that time, David didn't understand what his daughter meant until he met that little woman today. She was the exact opposite of his late wife Sandra. Most importantly, she was genuinely concerned about his daughter. Remembering how she had cast him with suspicious looks when he revealed he was Lily's father, he smiled foolishly.

Her expressions and reactions were amusing to him. "I promise you, Lily, this time Daddy won't fail you. I will bring your beautiful sister home." Staring at the brightly shining moon through the window, David made that solemn promise. The following day, Lily woke up so early and washed her face. Since it was over the summer holiday, she was free from attending school. All she had in mind was her beautiful sister.Lily descended the stairs humming happily which caught Aunt Meng who was arranging the table off guard.

She was used to a grumpy Lily in the morning who had to be coerced to come downstairs for breakfast, so what changed? What was she seeing? "Good morning aunty?" Lily greeted happily, her eyes squinting. "Oh Lily, good morning... you are up so early." Aunt Meng commented after recovering from her shock.

"Yeah, I have to go visit my beautiful sister. So I figured out I should be early. Do you need help with that?" Lily asked, pointing at the dishes aunt Meng was holding.

"No need princess, you should just settle down and have breakfast." Aunt Meng replied.

She was the little miss of the Brown family, how could she allow her to do chores? "Oh!" Lily was downcasted that her aunty didn't need her help but the thought of seeing her beautiful sister immediately boosted her mood. She obediently settled on her chair and was served with her breakfast.

Her breakfast consisted of cereal pudding with a glass of milk and scrambled eggs. This was one of the things Lily hated for breakfast but today, she didn't make a fuss about it.

Aunt Meng who was preparing a whole page of words to convince her to eat her breakfast was shocked yet again when Lily started to dig in without any complaint.

David, who had just emerged to the dining table was also astounded. It usually took him a lot of coercing to finally make his daughter eat cereal but today... "Good morning princess?" Disregarding everything, he greeted his daughter who raised her head and smiled pleasantly at him. "Good morning Daddy," Lily replied before going back to eating her breakfast.

David was taken aback by her little smiling episode. His daughter rarely smiled and he had to squeeze a smile out of her but today she smiled so effortlessly.. something was definitely cooking up in her mind or else, she had a request to make. Ignoring his suspicions, David settled on his position and his breakfast was served to him.Lily finished her food first and made sure to drink to the last drop of her milk.

She wanted to approach the topic of visiting her beautiful sister but saw that her father was still eating so she decided to wait until he was done.

David saw that and smiled inwardly. It seems like he was right, his daughter surely had something to ask from him. He took his sweet time savoring his breakfast until he was full. He then served himself a cup of coffee and sipped on it elegantly.

"What is it, Lily? You have something you want from me?" David asked, composed. The truth was he was wondering what absurd requests his daughter had, she always had them. "I was thinking about visiting my beautiful sister today and was asking your permission," Lily said, catching David off guard. That was the least of his expectations.

"Oh! why do you want to visit her?" David asked interestingly. "I just want to spend time with her, maybe I can gather some tips to help you court her, what do you think?''Lily carefully laid the trap for her father. She had seen how her father looked at her beautiful sister, of course, she knew that look.

Although four years old, Lily was no fool and could tell that her father was interested in her beautiful sister which to her was good news. David knew that his daughter was baiting him, but he didn't mind. She was right, he needed all the tips and information he could get his hands on to conquer her. He was willing to use his daughter as the detective to achieve his goal.
