Chapter 4

Lucy

Amerald steered the motorcycle to the side of the shoulder before lifting Lucy up, still thrusting inside of her. He carried her into the trees and put her against one. She looked up at him curiously. He caged her against the tree. He started moving faster and deeper while she rocked her body to his. He kissed down her neck, growling slightly. She slid her hands under his shirt.

“Lucy,” he moaned.

She bit her lip, closing her eyes around the grief pouring through her link. Suddenly, Amerald stopped and pulled out of her. Her eyes snap open to watch him put his cock away.

“You didn’t finish?”

He sighed. “Why are you really okay with this, Lucy?”

She straightened her clothes before glaring at him. “Does it matter?”

“Yes.”

“Why?”

He raised his hand to wipe tears she hadn’t known were falling off her face. “Because right now, I don’t know how to protect you or even what I’m protecting you from.”

She raised her hand to wrap three fingers around his wrist. “It’s my mate.”

“What happened, Lucy?”

She pulled away from him. “Nothing. Are we almost there?”

He folded his arms across his chest. “We’re not going anywhere until you answer my questions.”

Lucy raised her hand to press against her head, groaning at the headache that was developing from the pain being fed to her through the link.

“My mate had just proposed to me and I agreed to marry him. We were at prom and he disappeared from the gym. I went looking for him and found him fucking my best friend.”

“Tell me the rest,” he ordered softly.

“I marked him and made him mark her.”

”Why?”

She raised her eyes to meet his. “I wanted them to feel the pain of me with someone else. I wanted them to know how I felt finding them.”

He sighed. “Can I form a link with you?”

She nodded. She felt him move in her brain and Hesha backed away, fearfully, making Lucy take a step away from him. His aura surrounded Hesha and she began to relax. He lifted her chin and searched her eyes.

“Let’s start over, Lucy. My name is Amerald and I’m 42. I am a tiger shifter and I work for your father.”

She stared at him for a minute. “I’m Lucianna and I’m 18. I am a dragon shifter, witch and vampire.” She grinned. “I am your boss’ daughter.”

He rolled his eyes. “You want to punish them?”

“Yes.”

“Come meet the gang and then I will spend hours touching you. I will shield you from his links.”

“How did you know he linked me?”

“I saw the pain in your eyes before you closed them.” He took her hands and kissed them. “You should also tell your father you’re safe while we are going back to the campsite. I don’t want my people in jeopardy.”

She sighed and nodded. “I’m sorry. I didn’t do this smartly.”

He chuckled as he draped his arm over her shoulders. “It’s okay. Let’s just do it right now. Talk to your dad and I will get us to camp.”

He led her back to the bike as she reached for her father’s link.

‘Hey, baby girl, are you okay?’

‘I’m leaving.’

‘Where are you going?’

She leaned back against Amerald. ‘I’m running away to join the circus.’

He growled at her through their link. ‘Where the hell are you going, Lucy? Where are you now?’

‘Fine. I’m going to join a biker gang.’

He growled again. ‘Lucianna May Lincoln, where are you?’

She pushed the image of Amerald’s bike, his arms around her and then finally his face to her father who growled.

‘Amerald! You are to come home immediately.’

Amerald tensed behind her and she glanced over her shoulder to see his eyes glazed over. He pulled over to the side of the road. The bike hummed under her and she leaned back against him to wait until he finished the conversation with her father. His face grew more angry and when she tried to climb off the bike, he wrapped his arm around her, holding her in place.

He looked down at her before getting off the bike. He helped her off of it.

He looked up at the sky and walked a few feet away, waving his hand toward the clouds above them. “Leave.”

She stared at him. “What?”

He crossed his arms over his chest. “I said leave.”

She crossed the small distance between them to stand in front of him. “You want me to leave?”

He nodded. “I don’t want you around.”

Her face fell and she took a step back. She pressed her hand into her stomach. “You’re just like him. I should have known.”

“Go on. Get out of here.”

She threw her hands up in the air and turned around to storm down the road. Her father opened their link again and refused to let her close it.

‘Are you coming home? When can we expect you? Where are you? I will send your mother to get you.’

She stopped walking to close her eyes and wrap her arms around her waist. ‘I needed this, Daddy. I needed to get away.’ The roar of a bike’s engine behind made her let out a whimper. ‘I wanted to forget him,’ she told him, full of anguish.

‘Princess, come home. We can help you. Kalani will guide you through this.’

‘No. I don’t want to-’

She was yanked off the ground and she landed in someone’s arms. She looked up at Amerald who pushed the bike faster in the direction they had been going.

“What are you doing?,” she shouted over the wind.

‘I can’t protect you if you’re not around,’ he linked.

‘Why do you care? You told me to leave,’ she accused him.

He sighed as he sped up.

‘Lucy, look I will give you a week to feel better and then I will come for you. If you need me let me know. Goddess, your mother is going to kill me.’

‘Thanks, Daddy. Love you.’

‘Love you, too, baby girl. Make sure you stick close to Amerald. He will protect you.’

She looked up at him again and saw his eyes glazed over again. He shifted her on the back of the bike so that she was facing the road. He leaned close to her ear.

“I told you I wanted you, Lucy. I meant it.”

“Then why did you say that stuff to me?”

“Your father ordered me to.” He kissed her neck. “Let me take you home, Lucy. To your new home.”

She looked over her shoulder at him. ‘I don’t have a home. I belong nowhere.’

He pulled her back against him more. ‘You belong with us, with me. Don’t ask me to let you go, because I won’t.’

She studied his face as he continued to speed towards their destination. ‘I’m sorry my father ordered you to do that.’

He kissed her forehead. ‘I’m sorry I hurt your feelings.’

She didn’t respond to him, choosing to only scoot even further back into him as she reached for her mother’s link.

‘Mom?’

‘Hey, sweetie. Are you okay?’

‘I wanted to let you know I was leaving for a while.’

‘Where are you going?’

‘I’m joining a biker gang. Before you say anything, I need this. Please, don’t force me to come home.’

‘Does your father know?’

‘Yes. He tried to order Amerald to send me away.’

‘That son of... Be safe honey. I’ll handle your father. Take your time. I love you.’

‘I love you, too.’

She relaxed back against Amerald and linked her fingers through his on the handlebars. “Take me home, Amerald, and when we get there I’d like to show you my appreciation.”

He chuckled in her neck. “I’m gonna eat you up, little girl.”

She shivered. “Promises, promises.”
