Chapter 1 Lauren is Here!

Early in the morning, a tiny figure was crouched by the steps at the entrance of the Foster Group.

A kind-hearted employee walked over to see what was up, but the cute kid didn't even look up. She just said in her sweet voice, "Thanks, I'm waiting for my daddy here!"

After the curious crowd had gone inside and most people had left, a steady boy's voice suddenly came from the necklace around the little girl's neck, "Lauren, did you remember everything I taught you?"

Lauren Foster blinked her eyes, clenched her little pink fists, and said in her sweet childlike voice, "I remember, Bennett. I'll do my best for Mommy!"

While the two kids were whispering, the sound of a car approaching suddenly came from not far away. Lauren looked up and saw a bunch of people suddenly running out of the building, standing respectfully on both sides of the entrance.

A fancy car stopped at the entrance, and a man in a tailcoat hurriedly got out from the front seat, walked around to the other side, and opened the rear door.

Lauren stood behind the crowd, but they didn't completely block her view. She saw the long legs wrapped in black dress pants step onto the ground, and looking up along the perfectly ironed shirt, she saw the cold face of Jasper Foster, the president of the Foster Group.

The man stood up straight and walked towards the building, exuding an aura of aloofness that made it hard for people to breathe. For a moment, the surroundings were silent, and only the sound of leather shoes on the polished floor could be heard.

Suddenly—"Daddy!" A tender voice broke the silence.

While everyone was still in a daze, an employee standing near Lauren was the first to notice her but didn't have time to stop her.

Jasper looked up and saw a little girl in a pink princess dress squeezing through the gap by the door. Because her head was lowered, her face couldn't be seen clearly, but for some reason, Jasper, who had always disliked children, didn't avoid her. He even slightly turned his body, allowing her to more accurately throw herself onto his leg.

The little girl's soft body had almost no weight as she threw herself onto him. Jasper pursed his lips, looking at her struggling to hold onto his leg, and was about to speak when he heard the girl's aggrieved voice. "Daddy!"

That term again? Jasper frowned. He had no interest in entertaining a child and didn't know whose kid had been brought here, running up to him.

Lauren was also a bit dissatisfied. Why didn't daddy understand? She had called him twice, and he still didn't pick her up! No wonder mommy wanted to leave him!

It seemed like people around them started whispering. Jasper felt annoyed, and his voice became very cold. "Let go!"

But the next second, he was stunned.

The adorable little girl looked up, her big watery eyes filled with grievance and reproach. Most importantly, her face bore a striking resemblance to his own!

Lauren pouted, remembering her mission, and still reached out to Jasper. "Daddy, hug me. I want daddy to hug me."

Jasper finally snapped out of it. Although his face still showed little expression, his heart began to soften, even though this was the first time he had met this little girl.

He squatted down, his gaze meeting Lauren's clear eyes. The soft scent of the child softened Jasper's heart considerably. He raised his hand and picked up the little girl, turning to the man beside him who was staring in shock.

"Joe, seal off this area and investigate!"

The housekeeper Joe had been staring at Lauren in a daze. This child looked so much like Jasper! Jasper's parents hadn't given him any siblings, so she might really be...

Excited, he didn't forget to turn around and start issuing orders, his face calm after the initial shock.

Such a young child couldn't have appeared here on her own. If she simply mistook someone else for her father, that would be fine, but if someone was deliberately plotting, the Foster Group would not let it go easily.

Meanwhile, Adeline Wilson, the little girl's mother, lay on the bed, her forehead covered in large beads of sweat. She frowned tightly, seemingly having another nightmare.

The door suddenly opened, and a small furry head peeked in. It was her young son. Seeing this scene, he quickly ran forward, climbed onto the bed with his short arms, and anxiously shook Adeline's arm. "Mommy!"

Adeline felt as if she was walking on a bridge over the sea again, the world before her blurred by heavy rain. Suddenly, a blinding white light shone on her, and a large truck sped towards her!

Adeline felt as if she was hit and thrown into the air, then heavily fell to the ground. Her body felt like a piece of shattered glass, ready to break into pieces with just a bit more force. But she still instinctively trembled, struggling to cover her belly.

There was still her baby inside; she couldn't die.

However, in her hazy consciousness, she heard someone get out of the car and make a phone call, saying, "Mr. Foster, the target isn't dead. Should we hit her again?"

Adeline's heart felt as if it was being crushed by the truck.

There had only been one Mr. Foster in her life. The one she loved the most, the one she was willing to do anything for—Jasper Foster.

But why did he do this to her? Was it just because someone else was also carrying his child?

Adeline felt her eyelids getting heavier, as if closing them completely would mean she would never be hurt again. However, she heard an anxious child's voice, crying out, "Mommy! Wake up!"

In an instant, all the pain receded like a tide. Adeline trembled as she opened her eyes and saw Bennett almost in tears, still reaching out to wipe the cold sweat from her forehead. Her gaze instantly softened.

Six years had passed, and she had long since gained a new life and a reason to live: her children.

Adeline gently stroked Bennett's head. "Bennett, it's okay. Mommy just had a nightmare, don't worry."

After speaking, she suddenly looked around, puzzled. "Where's Lauren?"
