Dilemma

"What's the deal with that crazy dame?" Don asked as he popped open the trunk of his car. His tone was gruff and impatient. There was a hint of disdain in his voice, as if he found the whole thing ridiculous.

"I did some reconnaissance at her place, and saw Brock Rico going inside," Tyson reported in a clipped, no-nonsense tone. "I also overheard her mother calling him son-in-law," he added, a slight frown creasing his brow.

"Does that mean she's tying the knot again with someone else?" Don asked, his voice laced with worry and concern. There was an edge of panic in his tone, as if he couldn't believe what he was hearing.

"Remarry?"

......

"Brock?!" Katrina shrieked, her voice dripping with rage and disbelief. It was clear that she thought her mother had lost her mind for even suggesting such a thing.

"I know your business is struggling," Brock began, a note of smugness in his voice. "But I can help you if you agree to become my wife." He smiled, as if he thought his offer was more than generous.

But Katrina just glared at him, her jaw clenched in anger. She couldn't believe the nerve of this man, trying to take advantage of her like this. It was disgusting.

"I don't need your help," she snapped, her voice icy and commanding. "I can handle my business just fine. Mum, can I see you for a moment?" She fixed Brock with a steely glare, daring him to protest. It was clear she wasn't in the mood for any backtalk.

Her mother followed her, her face etched with worry. She could tell that her daughter was not pleased with the suggestion of marrying Brock. In fact, she looked furious. But she also knew that her daughter was too polite to cause a scene, so she followed in silence. The tension between them was palpable, thick enough to cut with a knife.

"You had no right to bring him here without consulting me," Katrina said, her voice trembling with anger. She felt betrayed by her mother's actions, and she couldn't understand why she would do such a thing. Her mother looked at her, a pained expression on her face.

"When do you plan on remarrying, then? Do you want me to die without seeing my grandchild?" Katrina's mother's words cut her like a knife, and she took a step back, tears stinging her eyes.

"If you really want to be rid of Don, this could be the perfect opportunity," her mother continued, her voice gentle but insistent. "You could use this to gain control over the situation and make sure he never bothers you again." But as soon as the words left her mouth, Katrina turned and stormed out of the room.

She needed time to think, to sort through the confusion and turmoil in her mind. In the sitting room, she sank into a chair, trying to process everything that had just happened.

"Is the lecture over?" Brock asked, a smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. He noticed that Katrina still looked angry, but there was something else there, too - a hint of resignation, maybe? "I'm all ears if you want to keep going," he added, his tone light and mocking. But underneath it all, he was keenly aware of the tension in the air.

"How on earth did you find out about the financial troubles at my company?" Katrina demanded, crossing her arms defensively. She wasn't used to people knowing so much about her personal life, and she wasn't sure how to react. She felt vulnerable, like her privacy had been invaded, and she wasn't sure she could trust Brock.

"Good question, I own a broadcaster company, so how won't I know everything that happens in a day? Besides, I've got my eyes on you for a while, and I've gathered many information about you." His smile irritated Katrina, but she had to endure. This was the only way to escape Don's scheme. Was it a scheme? She wasn't sure of the reply to that answer.

"What made you decide to focus your attention on me?" she asked, feigning nonchalance. "Is it because of something personal, or is it more about business?" She was fishing for information, hoping to glean some insight into his motivations. But she was also wary, unsure of what his intentions were.

"I haven't been able to rest easy since I set my sights on you," he said, his tone sincere. "As for my business, it's doing well. But I'm more interested in helping yours. I'd be happy to support you, if you'd be willing to accept my proposal." There was a note of vulnerability in his voice, and Katrina felt a flicker of sympathy. Despite her reservations, she could tell he was being honest.

"I have to ask, why would you consider me as a potential suitor?" she asked, adopting a cool and detached tone. "Is it because I believe your interest in my business is genuine? Or are you simply trying to gain something from you?" She was being direct, and she was curious to see how he would respond. She was skeptical, but also intrigued by his boldness.

"I think you know the answer to that," he said, his voice low and smooth. He was trying to be charming, but she wasn't sure if it was working. "I think we both have something to gain from each other. But more than that, I think there's something special between us. Don't you feel it?" His words were compelling, but she wasn't ready to let down her guard. Could she trust him? She wasn't sure.

"I think you're deluded if you believe there's anything between us," she said, her voice cold and harsh. "You may think you can win me over with your pretty words, but I'm not interested in playing your games. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have more important things to do than listen to your empty promises." She turned to leave, not giving him a chance to respond.

"I've come to a conclusion, Kat." Her mother spoke out of nowhere. "You have to choose between Brock or Don, unless you wanna see my die right now in your front." Her mother said angrily, Katrina was scared. She knew her mother was not making an idle threat. The look in her eyes, the tone of her voice, it all made it clear that this was no bluff. This was serious.
