Chapter 6: The Royal Ball
"Yes, this is John's limo." Once the limo parked, I walked as if I was queen for the night. John got out from the back seat and stood in front of me and said, "Damn girl, you look beautiful." I winked at him and said, "Thank you." We both got in the back seat of the limo.
"This is all moving so quickly," I thought. But I don't care, he's so sexy, seems to be the richest guy in New York, and also seems like he's a gentleman. So, this can move as quickly as possible. Then I do not have to go back to Nebraska where it is the most boring town ever. So, I'm going to enjoy tonight and the rest of my time here!
I don't even know where this ball is, but I'm not going to ask John because I want to be surprised. I'm sure it's going to be a beautiful place. Surprisingly, we didn't talk much on our way there, we had a glass of wine. I don't know if it's me or if he is just a quiet person. We really don't know each other well, yet, but I'm going to get to know him soon! He looked at his phone a lot, but I'm sure that's because he's a big businessman and he probably has tons of clients to attend to.
"We have about five minutes until we get there," John said.
"Great!" I replied.
When we pulled up to where the ball was being held, I swear this is the most elegant place I'd ever seen. It looks as if we are in Hollywood. The lights from the entrance just gleam, there are limos everywhere, the women are dressed in fancy dresses, and the men are in suits.
"Damn, this is my kind of scene," I thought to myself.
John and I held hands while we walked inside, there were people standing at the front doors, opening the doors for everyone. "This is so classy, and I'm going to fit in, I just know it," I thought. Once we got inside, we walked over to our table, all of the tables were round with red cloths on top of them. All of the tables have a shiny wine glass sitting at each chair and a bucket of wine filled with ice. Joh pulled out my chair, I sat down then he sat down.
I'm just in awe over all of this, thinking, "how in the world am I here right now? How did I even get so lucky?"
I don't even know what this ball is for so I'm going to ask John.
"John, what is this ball for?" I asked.
"Once a year they hold a ball to distinguish the best CEO in New York," John replied.
"Oh wow. That's awesome! Well, I have to tell you that this is the best night I've ever had. Thank you for inviting me." I said.
"I'm glad you're having a good time. Don't thank me, you're one beautiful woman and as soon as I saw you, you caught my eye." John replied.
I blushed as he said that to me. It's not like I'm in shock because I know I'm beautiful, but coming from a man like him is 100 times better than hearing it from just someone beneath him. I must tell you when I fell into you on the plane, you instantly caught my eye also. I've never met someone like you, but I'm glad I did. I think I'm falling for you!
"When I told John that I'm falling for him, I said it quickly because I kind of got a bit embarrassed. But why should I be, he said I caught his eye first." I thought to myself.
"I want you to meet some of my co-workers, let's walk over to their table," John said.
"Okay. Do you think they will like me though?" I replied.
"Of course, they will. You're with me." John laughs a bit.
We walked over to his friend's table and we sat down. His friends greeted me and introduced themselves to me, John introduced me to them, which I thought was nice of him to do. While they all talk about work stuff, their girls talk to me. They all seem kind.
"Damn, I'm loving this, I'm hoping I get to live this kind of life with John." I'm definitely going to forget about my life in Nebraska. No one back there treats me this good, so forget all of them."
After we talked for a little while, we went back to our table because they were getting ready to do the ceremony.
"This is so exciting, who would have thought I'd be here right now." I thought.
While we sit at our table, sipping on our wine, the judges start the ceremony. They talk about all of their businesses and the men that run their businesses, they give them props for the great job that they do and how much money they bring in for them. They talk about all business stuff first. About an hour later, they started the award naming. They give out a few small rewards, then they call out for the biggest CEO award.
The head judge said, "Now for the best CEO winner, the award goes to, JOHN LANGDON of Langdon Modeling. New York's best modeling agency!"
I sat there for a moment and thought, "OMG, is this the modeling agency that I have an appointment with tomorrow? I can't believe this! My mind is racing, I felt my heart drop like 10 thousand feet below. If this is him, should I mention it to him? Should I just wait until tomorrow? I'm not sure what to do."
Then I thought, "What if I don't tell him that I have an appointment with his agency? He's going to know! Then what? What if he doesn't want to see me anymore? What if he gets pissed off?" UGH.. This is such a hard decision.
"I'm going to have to tell him."
