Chapter Seven

Fiona sat at the edge of the bedside having a chit chat with little Irene, she had been admitted in the hospital for about a month with a Pneumonia and had to undergo surgery but due to lack of finance and equipment Irene had to spend time in the hospital so she would be properly looked after, her Mom died giving birth to Irene since then she had been living in the Oakwood community orphanage till she was brought to the hospital for her severe conditions and needed administration. Fiona had made sure she was well monitored till they could finally get her operated on, since then Fiona had taken interest in the nine years old kid though she's a smart one for her age. Fiona hated it when innocent children have to go through a lot and wished she could take their pains away. She had thought as she stared at the little beautiful young lady who was as well staring at her.

“How have you been feeling, Irene? Did you have any pains? She said as she looked deeply into her eyes. Then she places her palm on her red curly hair.

“Not really, I just find it really hard to breathe.” She coughs as she speaks.

“It's alright little one, that's why you have your oxygen to help you breathe well.”

“But I don't want it anymore, I want to get out of here.” She said tearfully.

“You're going to, when you get better. I promise you.”

“Am I going to?”

“Yes Irene, you're going to get better. I'll make sure of that.” She said, holding the little girl in her embrace. “You're really going to be okay, my dear Irene.”

“I'm so glad you're here. Are you staying longer with us? Immediately she said that Lilian stormed in the room breathing profusely.

“Fiona!” She gasps for air. “Fiona! Your meeting with Mr Harold is in 20 minutes.”

“Dear Lord!” She exclaims. “I almost forgot.” Suddenly her phone rang, it was Cassie.

“Where are you, Fiona?!” Cassie yelled immediately as she picked the call.

“I'm sorry, Cassie. I got carried away. But I'll be on my way soon.” She said having a confused look and a tired look at the same time.

“I thought as much.” Cassie smirked coldly. “ Well, I'm out here with a cab and you have 5 seconds to get here.” She ordered.

“Aye aye captain.” She hangs the call. “I really need to go now. Get Aimee to come check after the other patients, okay?”

“Alright Fiona, you need to go now.”

“Take care Irene, I'll be back before you know it.” She said, giving the little girl a kiss on her forehead while she nodded in affirmation.

Maxwell was already at the restaurant, taking a glance at his wristwatch every now and then. He was waiting anxiously as he has never had to wait for anyone like this, he wondered why.

“Hello, Sir. You made a reservation but you have placed an order on the menu.” One of the attendants had walked up to him and said that.

“Yes about that, I'm waiting for someone.”

“Alright Sir, I'll be here when you need me.” Maxwell nodded as the waiter walked away just then Fiona walked in with Cassie, her presence alone brought a warmed smile in his face. Suddenly he couldn't just explain why he was smiling when she came in, she looked as fresh as the freshly baked bread.

“I'm so sorry Mr Harold for keeping you this long, I had patients to attend to.” She said as they got to the seat.

“Apology accepted, ma'am.” He had a warm gesture on his face. “Please have your seat.” Standing on his feet to usher her into the seat.

“Thank you.” She said as she sat down.

“Hello, Mr Harold!” Cassie greeted with a big smile on her face as she brought out her hand for a handshake.

“Hello Cassie.” Receiving the handshake as he sat down back. Cassie sat down too. “Should we order something or discuss business first?”

“Yes, business first…” She answered without hesitation, having a little guilt that she had been too forward. “Oh no! He might think I'm too desperate for sponsorship.” She thought.

“Okay, business it is then.” He plainly, just then Cassie's phone rang.

“I need to go.” She said after a few minutes on the phone.

“Is there a problem?” Fiona asks, almost wearing a worried face.

“Not at all, I just have a client waiting for me at the office.” She replies by taking up her bag and jacket to leave.

“Ohhh… Alright then, see ya later.”

“Yeah, take care Mr Harold. Have a nice evening.” She waved off the restaurant, Maxwell was feeling a little relieved he didn't know why but he just knew he wasn't very happy when Fiona walked in with her sister. He was expecting her alone and was a bit surprised to see both of them.

“Can we have something to eat already?” He said after long minutes of talking about business with Fiona, though he was impressed with how Fiona spoke fluently. He was more interested in helping her out after hearing her speak, her passion got a hold of him. A lady? Her age? This passionate? He had thought as he watched her spoke, nobody has really been able to interest him in anything even at work because he was so good at everything and felt nobody has ever meet his standard but this; everything Fiona had told him about caring for the less privileged, having a bigger ballet studio with gymnastics and also a skill acquisition for kids was more amazing. He had only given her a condition to be there to supervise everything, though Fiona didn't find it pleasing but she had no choice.

“Of course we can.” Maxwell called for the waiter, he asked Fiona what she'd like to eat then he placed an order.

Fiona fell flatly on the bed tiredly, she was so tired that she forgot to pull out her shoes. Cassie storms into her room without knocking.

“How did it go, Fi?”

“You've been in this house the whole time?” She jumps out of the bed startled as she didn't know her sister was in the house.

“Yeah, yeah whatever. How did it go with Mr Harold?” Anxiously waiting for an answer.

“I don't know, Madam. I've told you to knock several times when coming into my room.” She said angrily.

“Come on, Fi. Spill the beans.” Fiona was mute, she had an angry glare on her face. “Alright, I'm sorry. I forgot to knock.”

“Really? You forgot? You forget every time, you do this on purpose everytime.”

“Oh no! Here she goes again.” Cassie mutters quietly.

“Well… Mr Harold agreed….”

“Really?” She cuts in.

“Yeah, he's going to support us.”

“Yes!!!” She squealed in excitement.
