3. TAKE ME AS YOURS

DAMIEN

Hours passed by, dawn was at the peak of it's horizon, my mate stormed out hours ago and she has not returned since then.

Was she that pissed? Did she run away? That would not be enough reason to leave her mate behind, leave her pack and family behind.

Or was it something else? I became troubled and worried, I can not sit here and watch another hour pass by without seeing Jayda.

I will apologize to her for not listening, I would tamper justice with mercy if that is what she wants. I need to go and search for her.

Without wasting any further time, I went in search of Jayda with twelves of my trusted gammas and my Beta.

Days passed by, weeks passed by and we could not find Jayda.

I grew worried with each day that passed, I was exhauseted, but still I did not give up, we searched the woods for any sign of her. It felt like she had disappeared without a trace.

Our calls echoed through the forest, met only by the rustling of leaves and the wind.

We became increasingly fatigued, facing challenges that strained both our bodies and relationships within the group.

As we delved deeper into the woods, our hope dwindled.

It just did not make sense, why would she run away from me for something as petty as this? Was she looking for an opportunity to leave? Was she tired of me?

"I knew this would happen" Mother walked in, her scowl taunting whilst keeping her unwavering gaze on me.

I knew it from the very beginning that she hates Jayda, she despises her for some reason, maybe it was because we had no idea of her past and her identity.

I folded my arms and watched her saunter into the room.

"I've warned you about her" she said, her voice tinged with frustration.

"She is not one of us. I have begged you to choose another mate, someone from our pack. Jayda is a stranger and I fear she will bring harm to you one day"

Things got more intense in the room as mom's long standing dislike for Jayda became evident, making an already tough situation even more complicated.

"I choose Jayda for a reason, I love her and I will not go for another, she has always stood for me and by me, so I am going to do the same" I retorted back at her.

"So where is she? Why is she not standing by you now? Make things easier for yourself and the pack, take Arya as your mate because Jayda is gone and she will never come back" She stormed out of my room without waiting for a response from me.

Jayda would never run, she has sworn to always be by my side. Was she kidnapped? That has to the most reasonable explanation for her absence.

Ayra would never fill the void Jayda left behind. I could not accept that she willingly abandoned our bond.

"I am sorry about all this mess" a voice I know very well said.

"But seriously, why would she pull a disappearing act? I never thought she had that level of sneakiness up her sleeve, i had no idea that she was this cunning" Arya's blue eyes squinted as she spoke.

I could hear nothing but mockery in her voice.

"If you have nothing meaningful to say, please leave" I replied harshly.

"I am only hear to offer you solace and to remind you that I would never leave you, I would never abandon you, even if I was offered a life of wealth and......" She continued to taunt me with her facade promises.

"Leave, Ayra" I commanded, my voice reverberating around the walls of my room.

"You will need me one day, one day you will see that Jayda played and betrayed you and then you would remember that I have always been loyal to you" She stood to her feet, her eyes holding back tears. With a final lingering glance, she turned and walked out.

I sighed in frustration.

Jayda where did you go? Why do you have to leave me? This is too much for me, my pack is loosing hope on me, I promised to find you and bring you back home but you are no where to be found.

I have climbed mountains, gone through villages, searched other packs but still, all my efforts seemed to be wasted on a rocky ground.

"Alpha Damien! There is news" A pack member from behind my door said.

My blood rushed immediately, news? About Jayda? Finally! I quickly opened the door and let my Beta in.

The expression on his face was not convincing, I knew instantly that it was not good news, something was definitely wrong.

"What is the news?" I asked with raised brows.

"We found four dead members near the east road " the news struck me like a bolt of lightning.

Four dead members near the east road, and my heart sank with dread.

"They were brutally attacked, Alpha Damien" my Beta spoke cautiously.

"The markings on their bodies suggest a rival pack. It seems like a warning or a declaration of war"

A surge of anger mixed with fear coursed through me.

Jayda's disappearance and now this? Whoever did this must have taken Jayda or is this a sign from the shadowfang pack? There were two ways to find out, storm into the shadowfang pack and kill them all whilst searching their camps for Jayda or travel east to find Jayda.

All that mattered to me now was Jayda, the shadowfangs can hang themselves for all I care but I will not rest until I find Jayda.

First I will raid the shadowfangs in search for Jayda, then I would travel east. If the bodies were found at the east road then there is a possibility that she might have been taken by a pack in the east.

Who would want Jayda? What would they want her for?

"This must the work of the shadowfangs or an eastern pack, we are travelling to the east soon, ready twenty of our best gammas, we are raiding the shadowfang tomorrow and east the next day" I declared, clenching my fists as I gave the order.

The challenges ahead seemed vigorous but I could not afford to lose hope, I could not give up on the only woman my heart longed for.

The fate of my pack rested on my shoulders, Jayda's life rested on my hands.

Even if it means giving my last blood, I will, nothing will harm my Luna, not while I live.
