4. THE PLAGUE

JAYDA

As I struggled to peel open my eyes, the blurry sight of cold blue eyes glared at me, my sight adjusted and soon, I could see him staring down at me.

It was all coming back, he had one of his wolves hit me unconscious, he kidnapped me.

A scowl appeared on my face as I tried to stand up from the bed, only to realize that my hands and feets were been tied to a bed.

"I knew it was not just an hallucination, you are much calmer and prettier when you are asleep" He teased with a sly smirk.

"What the fuck do you want from me and where did you take me to?" I asked the tall, dark, muscular stranger.

"You are home, where you belong" He took a step forward and sat on the bed.

"Home? My home is with my pack and very soon my Alpha will come looking for me" I raised my voice at him.

"You still believe your Alpha will come for you? He probably thinks you are dead or you ran away from him" He said confidently.

It was like he was so sure of it, I would never run away from him, after my mother's death he took care of me and made me his Luna after so many years.

He knows that I would never betray him, not even in another lifetime.

"I did not run away, he knows I would never do such a thing"

His laughter echoed in the dimly lit room, sending shivers down my spine.

"Oh, sweetheart, you really believe in fairy tales, don't you?" he taunted.

I glared at him, he enjoyed making a mockery of me

"Whatever twisted game you're playing, I won't break. My pack will find me, and you'll regret crossing us"

His smirk widened, revealing a set of menacing teeth.

"When I'm done with you, I will let you go back to your pack but trust me, they would have all moved on and forgotten about you" He said mockingly before sauntering towards the door.

"What do you want from me?" I asked the one question that had been bugging me, at the utterance of my words, he stopped and sharply pivoted towards me.

"You are a healer aren't you? There is a wild sickness that is spreading through my pack and soon, it will spread throughout the entire western region, you will heal every single one of us in exchange for your freedom" He replied.

I am in the west? my eyes widened in shock. My father was from the west and he was killed by the westerners.

"Do not tell anyone that you are half eastern, half western, especially if you find your self in a western pack, no one must know your father was Alpha Tristan, I love you and I always will, now go" Mother's last words hit me like a flashback.

I was only ten, I knew absolutely nothing of happenings but I will never forget how my parents were killed.

Why should I help the same people that killed my father? This is karma coming back to haunt them because of what they did to my family.

"I heard about how much of a powerful healer you are, I did not want to cage you up and take you against your will but you left me no choice" He said softly, taking huge steps towards me.

I will have to escape this shitty place before they find out that I am partly a westerner and a daughter of their former Alpha.

The Alpha they despised so much and connived to kill.

"Well, I cannot help you if I am in chains..." I said angrily.

He glared at me intently for a minute before loosing the chains that held me to the bed.

"Do not play any messy game, my people need help, follow me" He said whilst walking me out of the building, we were surrounded by different huts, little children ran around, their cheerful voices filled the air as we walked further.

He took me into a hut, where three wolves laid on a sick bay, their skins were pale and bodies seemed to have shrinked.

"Look at them, they have been this way for months and very soon, they'll be dead if they are not treated" He said, his gaze softened.

I felt pity for the wolves.

Soon we had left the hut and walked further into where his pack resided, the further we went, the more sick wolves we saw, it seemed like more than half of the population was suffering from that very plague.

I had no choice but to accept it, I can't keep a grudge from innocent children who are suffering from this plague, they did absolutely nothing to deserve this.

I do not know the exact people who killed my father, I do not know if they are still alive but it would be unfair to punish innocent people for my pains, for the mistakes their parents and grand parents made.

"This is the battle I face as the Alpha of this pack and if I do not cure them, other packs will hunt us and kill us all because they do not want the plague to spread into their packs" He divulged calmly, his gaze on me was soft, he really was in need.

"My father's sickness has reached it's final level, I have never asked for the help of a southerner, as an alpha, I should never plead like a hopeless man but right now, my hands are tied. Please Luna Jayda, heal us" He pleaded, I felt my heart melting a thousand times over.

"I will help you" I muttered the words out of my mouth, in as much as I wanted to avenge my father's death, this innocent people do not deserve to die this way.

Alpha Daemon took me into his father's palace, where his father laid.

As I got into Alpha Daemon's father's palace to see the old man sitting at the very end in the throne room, glaring at me profusely as I walked further with Alpha Daemon.

The closer we got, the more I began to recognize Alpha Daemon's father.

I had seen him a couple of times when I was young. He was my father's beta before my father died, judging by what I am seeing, he later became the Alpha after my father's demise.

The memories flooded back as I approached the throne, and the weight of my decision to help this pack became even more significant.

Alpha Daemon's father, once a beta to my father, now held a gaze as I approached him.

I was told that my father and brother was killed by my father's own people, could it be that Alpha Greyson, Daemon's father and my father's former beta had a hand in my father's death?
