First Hunt, Rank 1 Monster

The dungeon itself had a cave as its entrance. It was a large cave of about three meters of diameter. Currently, it was so busy considering the fact that it was the lowest dungeon in town and the number of strong people is always low. The adventurers that had adorned their own armors and had different types of weapons. Movements were to and fro but considering that it was still early in the morning, majority were going into the dungeon.

Alex and Simon went in even though some people were giving them glances, they just ignored them. The reason for the glances, of course, a young man who clearly didn't have experience from the way he looked around was going inside a dungeon with a middle aged man with no armor for protection at all. Some were pitying the kid and wondered what he had done to be brought to the dungeon to die.

The moment they entered the cave, they came to a wide area which was an underground space. The place was lit up pale blue although there was no source of light which one could see. For one to enter the first floor of the dungeon, there was a teleportation stone on which once you make contact with it for five seconds, you'll be transported inside. In the wide space, adventurers were either resting, forming teams, changing into their battle suits or some were just there to see others go in and out.

The moment they entered, they wasted no time and headed directly for the teleportation stone, which was pink in colour and was floating in air at the far most right corner. There was a group of five men who were currently ready to enter inside. For them to enter as a team, they had to place their palms on the stone at the same time or otherwise they would be separated. When people entered the floor, they'll never meet inside unless they were teleported as one. The maximum number of people entering being five.

The group placed their hands on the teleportation stone and waited. After five seconds, pink light covered their bodies before they turned into particles of light and disappeared. Alex who was watching this had a surprised expression as this was his first time seeing people being teleported. After all, people with space magic were extremely rare and highly sort for.

Simon grabbed Alex's arm and pulled him towards the stone removing him from his stupor. "It's time to go, don't just stand there, we've got not time," Simon said this as they placed their palms on the stone. Warmth began spreading on their arms and towards their whole bodies. Five seconds later, a pink light covered them before they also disappeared.

To Alex, it seemed like darkness covered his sight before as second later it faded. When he recovered his vision, he found that they were in a big space that had several rooms. In each room, there were different types of monsters differing in numbers as one moved forward. Before they began, Simon gave Alex the dual swords from his ring.

"We are just going to be in the first room. It has only one monster which is what we want. The type changes from goblins, orcs, a panther, or any other types of monsters but, one thing that remains is that they are always martial monster, initial stage of rank 1. So, when you get in, be ready for battle," Simon reminded Alex who nodded in response.

"Okay, I'll head in," Alex said as he began heading towards the door.

Simon nodded as he watched Alex reach the door. He watched him trying to push it but got no response. He looked for a handle but found none. This made Simon shake his head while chuckling at Alex's actions. "Just place your hand on the door and wait. Be ready, you might be unlucky to be teleported in front of a monster," Simon reminded with a smile still planted on his face.

"Hey, I'm not that unlucky you know? I have been having good luck all through training. I don't think my luck will suck when I just begin hunting," Alex replied casually as he placed his hand on the door. He had eased up a lot being around Simon for over three years now. In response to this, Simon just shook his head and decided to wait.

Alex was again covered with the pink light before he got teleported into the dungeon. When he opened his eyes, he found another pair staring at him. The eyes were blood red and within he could swear to have seen a tinge of joy as food just delivered itself before. Alex jumped back in a hurry as this was the result of him training to know about his environment.

It was a bull like monster which towered over two meters in height and about two and a half in length. It had black fur and two long sharp pointed horns. When Alex moved back, the monster seemed to be angered as it let out air through its nose before charging forth. Alex who was just stabilizing himself after the luck that had gotten dark saw this, he rolled to the side to avoid being rammed by the monster.

He quickly got back to his feet as he unsheathed his dual swords ready for battle. When the monster noticed that its prey had once again got out of its grasp, its anger continued to rise as it changed the direction and headed in Alex's at a fast speed. Alex seeing that the behavior of the monster was akin to that of a bull, he decided to play strike and run. When the monster reached him, he jumped to the side and slashed at the monster. To his surprise, his sword just bounced off not leaving even a scratch.

When he landed, the bull connected its hind legs onto Alex. Alex immediately crossed his arms in front of him in a protective manner. When the attack hit, he was flung across the room and hit the wall. The sheer force from a single strike from the monster almost broke his arms as they were numb. Now is when Alex understood why martial stage monster was termed dangerous. Not only does it have strong defense, but also immense strength.

He wobbled to his feet only to see that the monster was already headed in his direction. He rolled to the side and escaped being rammed by hair's breadth. He decided to make some distance between them first and try to find the weakness of the beast. Every time the beast attacked, he would move to the side and strike it from different angles but he found the defense unbreakable. The monster on the other hand was getting impatient on seeing that it couldn't land its attacks on the fly that had entered its domain.

Alex then only saw one weakness shared by many if not all that had eyes. It was the softest part of the body and so, that's where he decided to strike. He again timed the monster that was rushing his way. Just as he moved to the side, he used his sword to pierce the monster's left eye before moving further away.

"Bgrooah!" The monster howled in pain as it entered berserk mode. Its already red eyes turned an even darker shed of red. It now ignored everything as its mind only read, destroy the fly! It's speed increased by almost two times giving Alex a hard time to dodge. He was attacked frequently that he entered defensive stance not even having a chance to strike.

This went on for about whole ten minutes and Alex was getting tired on the way the situation was currently. So, he decided to bid his time and use the second movement of his dual sword technique, swirling wind, piercing. When the monster attacked, he jumped to the side again but while in air, he used the technique together with his aiming skill to impale the monster in the eye. The sword pierced through the eye until it reached the brain.

The monster howled in pain and turned its head to the side and rammed into Alex. Alex was flung back to the wall and his body hit against it with sheer force. His shoulder born was dislocated and he felt immense pain. The monster on the other hand had its speed reduced as it began to stumble but still headed to finish up Alex who was still on the floor. Alex forced his body up as he held tightly onto the remaining sword in his hands. He knew that he had to finish the monster while he could.

When the monster reached him, he let himself fall to the right side of the beast escaping its rampage before using the second movement of swirling wind to pierce the only remaining eye. The strike connect as the monster howled showing its long canines. Alex moved away as fast as he could and the monster fell where he was with a bang.

The vitality of a monster is no joke as even after being impaled by two swords in the brain, the monster still refused to die. Alex stumbled to his feet and began heading to where the monster was, its head was soaked in its own blood. He pushed the sword in the left eye further inside making the monster howl and breathed its last.

Light covered the monster as it disintegrated into particles of light leaving behind Alex's two swords and a fist size monster core which was shining brightly ready to be picked.
