Back in Town
After it had stabbed the black tiger, the dagger returned to its sheath before flying towards Alex and laying beside him. After a few seconds, it glowed a faint golden hue which then enveloped Alex and began healing his wounds at a rapid rate. When the light faded, Almost all of Alex's injuries had been healed. After completing the task, the dagger laid down beside Alex.
When Alex woke up a few hours later, he was shocked to find that all his wounds had healed magically. But be fore he could do anything else, he decides to look for the dagger. Before he passed out, he remembered seeing the dagger hovering in the air.
Looking to his left and right frantically, he located the dagger closer to his legs. After picking the dagger up, he looked around and spotted the black tiger not too far away from where he was. It had blood seeping from its forehead and there was a clear stab wound there.
Alex once again took a glance of the dagger in his hand with a puzzled expression. He wondered what kind of knife this was. Healing him from injuries as well as protecting him when his life was at risk. Now that he thought about it, he finally understood why all the fatigue from training always vanished when he went to sleep. A magical dagger indeed.
Alex took hold of the dagger's handle and tried pulling it out of its sheath. As if oil had been applied, the dagger slid swiftly out of its sheath. A shiny metallic dagger with a broad center and tiny sharp edges and a pointy tip. Upon closer observation, Alex noticed that although the blade looked as if it was made of steel, he noticed that it didn't have the same characteristics as that of swords or other daggers he had seen. He knew for sure that it was special.
Getting off the ground, Alex walked briskly towards the tiger. Once upon it he looked at it with a complex expression on his face. He wondered if his idea of stealing from thieves was bad that he was being punished or? Well, he just shrugged his shoulders as he knew that there was nothing he could do about it but just incase there would be a time where he would be completely broke, he would surely pay the bandits that he could handle a visit.
That aside, the tiger now had to pay for its transgression with its life and core. That would surely fetch a certain amount money in the guild for sure. After caving out the core that was located in the monster's head using the dagger, Alex finally departed and headed straight towards Kravon town.
He didn't want any more misfortunes to befall him as it looked like there was someone amongst the bandits who had bad luck which had rubbed off of him. Surely luck knows how to get itself transferred from one person to another for sure, just being in the proximity.
It took him more that a week and a half just to arrive at the town. Although he encountered several monsters along the way, he never for once encountered any that had evolved past the initial stage of rank 1. Though not easy to cut through, he could handle them and by the time he made it out, he was sure that he could handle even six of the rank 1initial stage martial monsters. He could even handle a middle stage one but that would be excluding the variants.
He processed his details at the entrance, paying his entrance fee before being allowed into the town. After getting in, he immediately headed towards the inn that they had booked at the time that they were here with Simon. Pilmals inn, that was the name if he remembered it correctly.
When he got there, he got that it wasn't Jane who was at the receptionist, it was a man that was in his late twenties. A tall guy with a slim body stature, small blue eyes, short well kempt brown hair and a sharp pointed nose. He had a warm smile as he welcomed the first customer of the day.
"Good morning there, how may I help you today?" he asked as he saw Alex coming in. Alex moved closer the the counter and observed that the receptionist was called Philip according to the name tag on his left chest.
"I'd like to get a room for two days," Alex said in a somehow tired voice. Well, it was true that he was indeed very tired. A long journey on foot with all the dangers that are involved is surely no child's play. Walking day and night, just to make it there as early as possible and avoid any bad 'accidents' from occurring.
"That would be thirty silver coins," said the receptionist.
"I'll take it," replied Alex as he checked his pockets and took the thirty silver coins and handed them to the receptionist. After the details were filled in, Alex was given a key to room number fifteen. Since he was tired, Alex headed straight to the room and fell asleep immediately.
Although it was still early in the morning, the journey had worn him out for sure. Fighting monsters every now and then without getting a proper rest sure does have its consequences despite being beneficial in advancing one's skills.
When he woke up, it was already afternoon and it seemed he had got past the time he was used to taking lunch at here in Pilmals. He got out of bed, did a few stretches before ordering for a meal. While waiting for the delivery, he now observed the room that he was given. A single bed, two chairs, a table and a closet.
He got the torn backpack from his back before placing it in the closet before heading in the bathroom to freshen up before the meal. Once he was done, he found that the food he had ordered for was already on the table with steam rising.
After changing into some of the casual clothes that he had carried from home, he sat down and wolfed down the food. It had been some time since he last ate a dish that was well prepared, which compared to the roasted monster meat that he ate on his journey was like heaven and earth.
Seeing that one dish wasn't enough to satisfy his hunger, he ordered for the second one, then the third and the fourth. Only after having five dishes did he stomach fill complete. He decided to rest for a while before heading to the adventurers guild to register as a guild member.
After that, he would then sell the cores that he had collected on his journey plus the one he had received during his first hunt. Then, he would come back to the inn and give his body a well deserved rest before diving into the dungeon the following day to get more cores for more money.
Plans are going to remain to be plans until they are finally executed. Alex's plans in life were many but he had to ensure that he had done all that he was planning to do.
