Inside Tower Origin
After a good rest, Alex woke up and ordered for some food. Those that had awakened could survive even without food for a long time. Now that Alex had awakened, he could stay up to two days without food and that's why he didn't take breakfast nor did he eat after coming out of the dungeon.
Finishing his food, Alex decided to see what he would need tomorrow for the tower of origin. First, he set aside ten gold coins for the entrance fee. Second, he took out the skill book and the short sword that he had bought before. It was time to return them to the market do that they could find someone who would use them. This way, Alex could gain even more coins.
After setting them aside, Alex went into the bathroom to freshen up before going downstairs. When he was coming back from selling his cores to the guild, he didn't find Jane at the counter, probably because she was out of duty for lunch break. Now, it seemed that she was already back.
"Alex, you're back already? I hope you are good, I don't think I would like seeing you injured," stated Jane who was busy filing some documents.
"Yeah, I was back about three to four hours ago, so it has been some time now. As for getting hurt, forget about that, I am always careful with what I do so you don't have to worry about me that much," replied Alex while scratching the back of his head.
"It is good that you're fine. Now, where are you heading to? I am sure that you don't usually leave your room not unless you are heading somewhere. So, where are you off to?" asked Jane as she raised her head to look at Alex.
"I want to go to the market and sell some items. I've got no use for them so I think they're good off at the market that staying with me," said Alex as he fished out the skill book iron hands. Now that the mission rewards would be steel hands that's superior to iron hands, Alex decided to sell them off to get back his money even if it's at a certain loss.
" Good luck there finding a buyer. I hope things go well for you," said Jane as she waved Alex goodbye. Alex left the inn and walked towards the town squire. He was determined to sell the skill book and the dual swords to whoever offered him something. The guild always sold things for a cheaper price compared to the merchants in the market so he was sure that he could find a buyer.
When he got to the town squire, Alex headed to the area where weapons, armor and skills were sold. There, he searched for a merchant that dealt with weapons. "Hello there sir, I would like to sell this weapon," said Alex to an old man who seemed to be in charge of the store.
"Oh, what weapon? Let me see it." said the old man as he approached Alex. Alex took out the short sword and offered it to the old man to appraise it. The old man took the short sword from Alex's hand and inspected it calmly.
"Mmh, this is a genuine weapon. For this, I can offer you six gold coins for it," stated the old man after thoroughly checking out the weapon in his hand.
"I'll take it. Alex didn't even want to bargain for it. Even though he lost one gold coin, it was better than having a weapon that he wouldn't be using at all. After receiving the money, Alex headed to a skill shop where he sold the skill book iron hands for five gold coins. With that, Alex was finally ready for the tower of origin.
When he got back to the inn, Alex paid twelve gold coins for accommodation for three full months. Now, Alex would have freedom to do what he wanted with his money now that he has three months. Alex then stayed in the inn for the night and went towards the tower of origin the following morning. The mission had already began and he had killed more than he had expected in the dungeon.
He killed a total of twenty seven peak stage rank 1 martial monsters. The mission only began after he killed a peak stage monster because the standard that the system had set for him was practically higher than normal. Well, he could as well be considered an abnormally since he could defeat monsters at the peak of his level while he himself is at the initial stage.
Currently, he only needed to kill thirteen monsters and the mission would be completed. Alex knew that the monsters inside the tower were far stronger than those that were found in dungeons, much less those that roam on land outside the dungeons. He knew that he would get worked up in the tower so he made sure to be prepared. The only advantage was that one could decide on which monster he or she wants to fight against.
Alex decided that it was time to go. He didn't want to waste too much time. That was a place where he could train himself to the limit. He walked towards the tower that was located at the eastern side of the central squire. It wasn't in the central squire but at the edges.
When he got there, he found a guard that was in charge of the tower. He was a man probably in his thirties. He was wearing the armor that was popularly known to be worn by the guards that are found at the capital. The armor had the kingdom's crest placed on the left chest.
"State your rank and stage," stated the guard not even bothering to greet Alex. Alex didn't mind and removed his guild card and showed it to the guard who after reading the contents, expressionlessly stretched out his hand asking for payment. Alex took the ten gold coins that he had placed in his pockets to avoid people wondering where his money was coming from yet he didn't have a storage ring.
Even his dagger was tied to the side of his waist. Taking the coins from Alex, the guard moved aside allowing Alex to reach the double doors leading into the tower. The doors were about twenty meters tall and about fifteen meters wide. They were just like dungeon doors, they had the capability of teleporting someone inside.
Just like he always did in the dungeon, Alex placed his hand on the door and patiently waited to be teleported inside. Five seconds later, Alex was enveloped by the pink light before he vanished from the door and appeared inside the tower. Inside the tower was like a world on its own. One couldn't even see how wide the space was or how high it was.
Being the first time in the tower, Alex was mesmerized by the place. The floor was pure white. In fact, the whole place was white and there were no other colours no matter how far he looked. He wasn't sure about the information that he had learnt during his three years of training here in Kravon but he wanted to try. After a short pause, Alex said out loud, "Activate!"
As if on cue, the place lighted up even more making the place so bright. Alex didn't know the source of the light since he couldn't even see his own shadow. Strange indeed. When the light intensity reached a certain level, Alex heard a voice ringing throughout the place,"Welcome to the tower of origin! First of all, I'll give you the guidelines of the tower since this is your first time here!"
Alex was surprised to hear the voice and further that the voice noticed that this was his first time in the tower. Well, it was understandable since one could easily know if someone had come to his house before or not. Furthermore, the tower wasn't that popular.
"First of all, you are the one in control of the space here. You can decide what kind of terrain you want and what type and power level of the martial monster you want to fight against. You can decide to either fight agility type, offensive type, defensive type or a balanced monster. You can't decide on the monster that you want to fight, only the listed categories above can be selected. The monster you'll be up against will be random." continued the voice.
Alex was still at the same spot as before listening intently to what he was being told. He didn't want to miss out on anything crucial that could end up making him suffer the consequences he wasn't willing to bear. Better to listen now then act accordingly later, those were Alex's thoughts at the moment.
"Once you select the terrain and the type of monster you want to face, you'll have to select what kind of battle you'll be fighting. A one on one or multiple opponents. That's your decision to make. Next, you have to select the power level of the monster you want to fight and the number of opponents Incase you selected a multiple opponents battle," stated the voice emotionlessly.
"Reminder, you have to know that death is possible and thus you are not advised to overestimate yourself in here. The dangers are real and so are the rewards. Several items can drop after making a kill. It could be a weapon, a potion, an accessory or something else. The drops are random but a drop is guaranteed. So, when you finish the battle, you'll get your rewards."
"Further notice, you can't quit once the battle has began. You'll have to either kill or get killed. For the round to end, there must be a victor, draws aren't acceptable! So challenger, are you ready?" asked the voice after the explanation.
"Yes, I am ready!" replied Alex after taking in all that he had heard about the tower rules. It seemed that the outside information wasn't accurate since it came from people who had no experience with the tower, they only heard about it from somewhere and exaggerated as they passed the information to the next person.
"Good, you may now do your selections before the battle begins,"
Alex chose a grassland. He didn't want any kind of inhibitions during his fights. He wanted to clearly see his enemies and take them head on. After that, he selected agility type monsters. He still had a grudge against them. After that, he selected a one on one battle and selected a rank 1 martial monster at the initial stage. He didn't dare underestimate opponents he had never faced before.
When he was done, Alex said,"I am done with the preparations, I am ready for battle." He then removed the dagger from the side of his waist and held it tightly in his right hand.
"Very well, the battle will begin in 10....9....8....7....6....5....4....3....2....1...let the battle begin...."
