Moving into her new home
With his game face on, Seth said, “back to meeting.”
Seth was engrossed in a conference meeting when his cousin Mark poked his head in.
"Quick question, is it true what I heard?" Mark asked with a smirk. "You actually got hitched to some random woman at the registry office?"
Seth sighed. "It's...complicated. Mum forced me into it."
"Whoa, I’m proud of Nana!" Mark laughed.
“Shut up and focus,” Seth warned.
Even so Mark had sympathy for his cousin brother.
There was no need for the Browns to secure social and financial standing through marriage, but Seth and his new wife aren’t a match in any way. Poor Seth only married the girl because Nana took a liking to her.
Once again Mark offered his sympathy for Seth through his thoughts.
Thank God he is married if not his own mum would have pressured him too to marry a total stranger.
Unaware of all this, Liv got to the location details and was busy dragging her suitcase to get to her new home.
Liv pulled up to the large colonial home and took a deep breath. This was it - her new life in this big empty house with a husband she barely knew. She popped the trunk and grabbed her lone suitcase, waving to the moving van trailing behind her.
Putting down the suitcase she started looking around the whole place. This was her home from now on.
It had two living areas, four bedrooms, one kitchen, two bathrooms, and two balconies. Each space was broad and wide. Serenity estimated the entire house to be at least two thousand square feet.
The place was barely furnished as there was only a sofa set with a coffee table, and a wine chiller in the living room. Two out of four bedrooms were equipped with a bed and wardrobe while the other two were empty. The master bedroom had en-suite facilities, complete with a walk-in closet, the divided space, the master bedroom remained huge like the living room.
This must be Seth’s room.
Liv chose to live in the other room with a bed. The sunlight that came from the balcony lit up the room. There was a room between the master bedroom and the room Liv chose. This way they both would enjoy their personal space.
Although they were married in the eyes of the law, Liv would not propose spending time as husband and wife if Seth didn’t ask for it, huh she herself isn’t ready.
After dragging her luggage to the bedroom, Liv went to the kitchen.
The kitchen was freakingly clean without any kitchen utensils in sight. Both balconies were also bare but gave a roomy vibe due to flower vases. Liv intended to spice up the balcony with flowers and a swing.
It appeared Seth was really home for dinner.
Now that she’s occupying the space, home cooked meals were a must.
She began exploring to get a feel for the layout and imagine where she could make it more warm and inviting.
When she entered the kitchen, Liv frowned at the outdated appliances and plain cabinets. Cooking was one of her passions, and she wanted this to be the heart of the home. On a whim, she pulled out her phone to browse an online store she loved. Soon, she had selected a set of pots, pans, baking dishes and cutlery to bring this kitchen into the 21st century. "I think Seth will appreciate the upgrade," she thought as she clicked 'purchase.'
Liv wandered out to the back deck next. The view of the lush green lawn and trees was gorgeous but lacked warmth. She envisioned string lights, potted flowers and comfortable outdoor furniture. Before getting too carried away though, she decided Seth deserved input. "I'll ask for his permission to get furniture for the balcony when he is back home from work," she resolved.
It was his house after all while she’s just staying with him.
After placing an order on kitchen utensils, Liv looked at the time and needed to return to the shop.
She grabbed her phone and rushed down the stairs.
Liv made it in time back to the shop in time for the aftershock rush.
Her best friend, Scarlet, Asked out of concern. “What were you up to in the morning Liv?”
“My mum and stepfather have been in constant arguments because of me. I thought about it and decided to move out,” Liv shrugged. “So I moved out this morning.”
Scarlet sigh. “Men love to tell women that they would take good care of them, but when it comes down to it, they start complaining and finding faults. After marriage, we, women, have to put our families above all while grinning through misunderstanding. It’s so unfair I think your mum should get a job for herself. Women must be financially independent to avoid bullshit at times.”
While speaking, Scarlet furrowed her eyebrows and gave Liv a confused look. “I still can not believe your mum allowed you to move out.”
“I got married.” Liv declared.
"What?! To who?!" Scarlet screeched. Liv winced and held her two ears.
"It was so spontaneous and crazy!" Liv said. "But honestly, I was getting a little desperate with the accommodation situation."
Scarlet was silent for a moment, processing the news. Then she said gently, "Liv honey, you know you always have a room here with me in my house. Why didn't you call? I would have helped you out until you found a more permanent place."
Liv sighed. "I know, Scar. I just panicked. But hopefully this will all work out for the best. Seth really seems like a great guy so far."
“And Nana could never pick the wrong guy for me.”
Scarlet glared at Liv before poking her forehead. “I don't know where you had the guts to marry a total stranger. You could have just stayed with me. You could have picked my brother if you were looking for a husband too.”
