Chapter. 4 The Come of the Troublemaker

Devina turned her head when she heard the sound of something falling.

"Oh, my God!" she squealed as she ran towards a man who had fallen in front of the clinic. "What's wrong with you?" she asked, confused.

"Hurt... It hurts.... My chest hurts," the man replied, whimpering.

"Yes, already. Let me check inside," said Devina while trying to carry the man into her clinic. Finally, Devina managed to lay the man on the bed. She immediately took a stethoscope from a nearby cabinet to check the man's condition.

The man's heartbeat sounded much faster than the usual rhythm.

"Your heart is good. Although the rhythm is faster," Devina said while moving the device several times on the man's chest.

"Actually, I just fell.... Fell in love with you, Darling," the man replied. Suddenly, he held Devina's hand.

"Ish. What the hell is this? Please be polite!" said Devina while put his hand away. She immediately stood up from the edge of the bed. Then walked back a few steps. Away.

"Hahaha." The man laughed out loud as he lowered his legs one by one. "Just so you know? I am the son of an important person in this area. So, if you want to be with me and leave that poor mussel-seeking man. I will guarantee you a life dozens of times better than now," he added arrogantly. Devina immediately shook her head several times.

"I don't understand what do you want here? It's just that you need to know. I'm already happy with my life now. And it seems... I have no intention of becoming a rich person." Devina replied curtly. Her family was not one that struggled with money. She even considered herself a wealthy person. Devina's father had always wanted to help his daughter- and son-in-law with their finances. However, Devina and Mike's independent attitude did not want to burden or depend on them. So Mike and Devina were more comfortable living here with simple circumstances like this.

The man snorted while showing his sly smile.

"No need to be hypocritical? There's no woman in this world who doesn't need luxury." Again, Devina replied with a smile, even though the smile looked mocking.

"Looks like you need to learn to understand other people's lives," Devina said.

"Hahaha. Do you doubt Daniel Ethan Prakoso's ability?" he asked while puffing out his chest. Devina could not answer. Honestly, this was the first time she had seen this man. However, his face was very similar to the face of the man who peeked in the window of the room a few days ago. "I have met hundreds of beautiful women like you. Yes, even though they refused at first, they eventually accepted. Hahaha," Daniel continued while getting up from his seat. He walked closer to Devina. Meanwhile, Devina immediately walked away. Daniel smiled dismissively.

"What do you want?" asked Devina with a suspicious look on her face.

"Come on, beautiful. Don't be so fierce like that. I just want to get to know you better."

"I guess you already know who I am? Moreover, you said you were the son of an important person in this area." Daniel returned a smile.

"Actually, it's very easy for me. But I want to hear it directly from this melodious woman." Daniel raised his hand to touch Devina's chin. However, Devina quickly brushed it away.

"Please! I beg you. Mind your actions in this place. I just want to have peace of mind, to serve the surrounding community who needs help. Not to be treated disrespectfully like this," Devina said with emphasis. Getting a rejection like this. Immediately made Daniel feel challenged. For the umpteenth time, he flashed his sly smile.

"Okay. Then, I'll leave first. Maybe our meeting this time can't make your heart memorable. But, remember, I promise to make you bend the knee to me someday," Daniel said and then he immediately turned around to leave the place. Devina's eyes continued to watch the man's steps, with a perfectly furrowed brow and a chest that rose and fell, holding her anger. Right in front of the exit, Daniel stopped. He turned around again.

"Your husband is right. You're too beautiful to be owned by that poor man and it makes me feel jealous," Daniel said, which immediately made Devina flabbergasted.

'Then it's true. He was the one who peeped in the window yesterday,' Devina thought. Without realizing it, Daniel was no longer there. An old woman came into Devina's clinic.

"Good afternoon, Doctor," said the woman with a wrinkled face. However, Devina, who was still daydreaming, did not answer the woman's greeting. So, the grandmother walked over and tapped Devina on the shoulder. "Good afternoon, Doctor," she repeated.

“Oh, Grandma. Please have a seat. Sorry, I wasn’t focused earlier,” Devina said, trying to act normally. The woman, who had entered the age of six heads, immediately sat on the divan that had been provided.

"What are you complaining about?" asked Devina as she sat down in her chair.

"This, Doc? My hands are numb and tingling. Sometimes I don't even feel anything," she said while pinching it slightly.

"When did you feel this tingling?" asked Devina attentively.

"About a week ago, Doc." she answered steadily.

"Wow, it's been a long time. Is it possible that you often do repetitive movements?"

"Repetitive motions?" Grandmother questioned. "Yes, just when cleaning green mussels, Doc. You know I've been working there for a long time."

"Oh, yes. Then let me prepare some medicine to treat it first," Devina said as she got up from her seat. Then she immediately walked to the cupboard in the room. To prepare some medicines that she had. Which she believed could treat the tingling and numbness that the grandmother complained about.

"Okay, Doc."

It wasn't long before Devina sat back in the chair.

"Here, Grandma. Don't forget to take it regularly. Three times a day. If you still have complaints. Come here again soon."

"Yes, Doctor," she replied as she grabbed the object and put it in her pants pocket. "Sorry, Doc. What did Daniel come here for?"

"Oh, just now... His chest was tight. Maybe he just breathed in some dirty air," Devina lied. She also tried to put on a smile. So that the old woman in front of her would not be suspicious.

"Oh, thank goodness. I just want to tell you one thing. You're not from here. So, you have to be careful with Daniel. He often looks for beautiful women in this area to be his girlfriend. After the woman gets pregnant. Then he just leaves her," said the grandmother, giving advice. "He hasn't been seen for a long time. I thought he was dead."

"But why don't report him to the police or local authorities."

"No one dares him, Doc? His father owns most of the land in this village. Besides, his parents are also willing to support the child until he grows up. That's why people would rather keep their mouths shut than get into trouble with them," said the grandmother in a half-whisper. She leaned toward Devina.

"It's not like Mr. Arya is close to the people. How could he see his people being oppressed? He is the head of the village here and does nothing."

"Mr. Arya is Daniel's father's younger cousin. That's also why he can't do anything," Grandmother replied in the same tone. Devina was silent. She remembered what they had been talking about.

'Right. It turns out that Daniel is not just anyone,' thought Devina.
